Just wanted to thank the squads that were with me today fighting on the USMC.
I was commander and I have to say it was great time commanding. All but one squad was excellent at following orders and we did prety well.
Unfortunately the game ended early because disposable decided to start black friday in middle of our round :P ahh well hehe
heres the squad list, fill in your name if I missed it:
Squad 2: Air Assault Infantry leady by browna3
Squad 3: Air Assault Infantry lead by ??? (you did great!)
Squad 4: Air Transport lead by soldier something?
Squad 5: Air Attack lead by [PR]CATA Raz or something?
Squad 6: Light Infantry with humvee ??? (At first this squad was uncooperative but then they got alot better)
Squad 7: Air Assault Infantry lead by dbzao
Squad 8:
Squad 9: Air Assault Infantry lead by ??? (you did great!)

- squad 2 gets deployed to swamps using squad 4, swamps is neutralized
- immediate dustoff and attack by squad 2 to objective north rock fort
- north rock fort quickly seized, followed by dropping squad 9 and 6 to the north rock fort
- failed extraction of squad 7 to north rock fort.

Re: [AAR] Operation Barracuda - Nov.28.2008
I think you would have taken the island indeed, but I must say that our team was very disorganised although I started to gain more trust as the game progressed. Since I was on the other side I thought it might be interesting to tell my side of the events.
I ordered my squad to spawn on Swamp and hold there while I brought a truck to that position. Didn't start out well as I did not see a truck at Swamp on the map while briefing so I spawned at supplies while my squad members where playing target practice for the attack huey (when will they learn they always lose the staring contest between attack choppers and infantry?). I got lost in the bunker system at supplies so a random guy took the truck to docks. Luckily I now discovered that there was indeed a truck at Swamps so I walked towards the flag only to find out someone dropped the crates directly on the beach and which were now of course destroyed by the attack Huey. I took the truck to get a different one.
Perhaps 10 minutes later I was finally able to build a bunker at Swamps which I placed behind the dunes to avoid it being destroyed by the Hueys (thanks for the compliment Fuzzhead
). I noticed lots of activity to the east so I build up defences facing that direction.
We fended off a few attacks but after a while I started to see the enemy moving towards our undefended south flank. That was a huge flaw and sooner or later we would lose the flag because of it. Multiple times I asked my team to build a stronghold at Supplies to plug the gap. No answer.
Since there was another squad defending Swamps I brought my squad to Supplies. Luckily another SL had a truck already and dropped supply boxes. Apparently he hadn't checked distances because they were too close to the bunker at Swamps. But by then the squad at Swamps had gotten wiped out and we also lost the bunker there completely so we could suddenly build a bunker. A few minutes later we lost Swamps entirely and it was time to help defend Airfield.
At Airfield a bunker was already build so for the time being we just helped defend against a few single squad attacks. At that moment I was not afraid we would lose the flag but if the game would not have stopped by the admin I think I would have build another strongpoint SE of the flag to avoid the US bringing lots of Humvees on the airstrip who would have been able to quickly overrun that position.
Where did it go wrong on our side? I think that bunker on Swamps should have been used as a last defense for that flag. The real defense should have come from a fortified position at Supplies as it overlooked the Swamps area completely, plus attack choppers wouldn't have been able to get close as we there would be 2 AA positions. Northern Rock or the bunkers south of it would guard the Western flank.
Because that didn't happen I weakened Swamps probably too much by leaving and trying to build up defenses south of it.

agreed that would have been much harder to attack if you guys had multiple squads with overwatch, instead of everyone piled on the swamp and also some skirmishing with the docks defense. The real defense should have come from a fortified position at Supplies as it overlooked the Swamps area completely

"There are still up though" for CAS you have to do like 2-3 passes if it isnt needed elsewhere or the mission was high risk.
