Kashan 11/3/08 (M/D/Y) 3PM-6PM PST(GMT-8)

I just got out of a SIMPLY incredible round of Kashan. Even the fact that we lost could not change my opinion of it.
Squadname: Vodsquad
Lineup:
Me(|TG-Irr|Riffraff) (SL)
|TG|Tibu
UA raxripper
NaturalBornTarget
eD_ru$h
hockeywarrior

(This is actually not the final score; we managed another 2500 points from the cap of US outpost+ 'togetherness' points. Final score was, 13634, or somewhere in that range. The kill count is final, however.)
ex-member/Honorable Mention:
Blade_nil (had to leave with about 30-45 minutes remaining. Him, Tibu, and raxripper got us through more tight spots than I can count. All statements of time are rough estimates and not to be trusted, based much more on "how long it felt" than "how long it was")
NOTE: ALL EVENTS ARE OFF THE TOP OF MY MEMORY. APOLOGIES FOR LEAVING ANYONE OUT, OR ANY OTHER UNTRUE STATEMENTS.
I join in about 15 minutes in, spawn, grab a vodnik, and start racing off to MEC outpost (Attackable at this time);. About halfway there, One person joins, then another, and another, until we have a full 4 people. I grab an officer kit, we get another vodnik, and we're off to defend MEC outpost. On the way, SV is capped, so we head straight to SB. We roll in, set a rally, and cap. In the process of capping, SV goes neutral again.. We managed to hold it for a good 15 minutes before we get wiped, but here's were the fun starts: We spawn back at main, grab more vodniks, rush back, and we're able to CONTINUE holding it for another 20 minutes before we're wiped. I wish I could say that there's an interesting story in all of this, but that paragraph basically sums up the next hour: the whole rest of the team caps SV, we rush in and grab a bunker, hold it for anywhere between 5 and 15 minutes, lose it, rinse, repeat.
This pattern was only broken when we were under 150 tickets and had reached some seriously dire straits. We had a commander, but SV was neutralized and nearing being capped by the US (by this time we basically had the final squad minus ed rush and hockeywarrior, and plus blade_nil).In desperation, we pull out of attacking the bunkers and strike SV. Our first round of two vodniks is completely wiped doing negligible damage, luckily there is a second round waiting at main. We grab em, hook around south of SV and hit the enemy firebase set up at the northeast corner of SV. We take down the firebase, and this is when things finally start looking up for our team.
I get the "smart" idea to go scout NV and take down the inevitable firebase that is always set there, but get intercepted by 2 hummers and a Blackhawk. Wiped.
We spawn back at main, grab a vodnik and a command truck, and rush North Bunker while squad 3 (not the squad 3 in the SS; this squad 3 was a full squad, well organized. Can't quite recall the members, but TG32nd JohnnyCastle was one of them) rushed south. We hit a bad stroke of luck, and get wiped, apart from our vehicles/drivers. This is where blade_nil left.
We spawn at main, grab 1 vodnik to add to our already existing vodnik, and roll out to south, capping it successfully (squad 3 had not moved in yet, was still in southernmost bunker.). We hold it for a good 30 minutes, with varying degrees of direness, until another squad caps North bunker (~40 tickets remain at this point), and off we go shooting to North Village in our one (now only) vodnik. We are the second squad to get there, and seriously disrupt their team, but in the end are wiped. However, by the time we're wiped, the ENTIRE MEC TEAM was in the flag cap radius, minus 1 or 2 stragglers. NEVER have I seen such a rush for a flag. 20 tickets remain.
We spawn back in the bunkers, intent on rushing to reinforce NV, but when we see the amazing sight of an entire team coming together out of the blue, we decide to rush to US outpost. Tibu, man of many great ideas, had spawned at main and grabbed a vodnik. The rest of the squad rolled out in a command truck. I start rolling up the hill south-east of the bunkers, when I hear a strange sound: 1 shot, 1 guy falls out of my truck, and another guy goes splat on my windshield. I had been preoccupied looking at the map at this time; I was completely on autopilot. However, my guys tell me that someone managed to shoot one of us (can't quite recall who) out of the back of the command truck, and that I somehow managed to run over the guy who did so. We laugh incessantly, and continue on. 18 tickets remain.
We set a rally, whoever it was hops back in, and continue. I, in my infinite truck driving skills, managed to hit the ONE rock formation we pass on the way to US outpost, and flip the truck. 560m out. with 17 tickets remaining. This is where Tibu get's his chance to shine; he rolls up in a vodnik, and we continue on our merry way. We reach US outpost with 16 tickets left. We take the two group shots you see here, one of our guys yells "Blackhawk!", and we're back into the thick of it. With the help of another squad (no idea who, sorry; they had 2 vodniks, and reached Outpost 3 vodnik lengths ahead of us) we take down a chopper, a hummer, and a full infantry squad (all of them outside Outpost cap radius; Outpost was completely clear, this was an incredible and unplanned zerg rush, over the course of no more than 10 minutes from when we got North Bunker). The last 10 tickets pass excruciatingly, but it is of no avail. We lose by a margin of 49 tickets.
Post-round summary of action: Squad formed as a vodnik squad of the "wreckingcrew" school of thought. squad forged by necessity into what may best be described as motorized infantry: squad rolls in, with 1 or 2 vodniks, everyone but gunner(s) dismount, and secure the area. Quite honestly, this is arguably BETTER than true mechanized infantry, at least in game. A vodnik can take out every threat an APC can, short of an APC, vodniks are faster than APCs, having an extra infantryman is a godsend, and, honestly, vodniks are about as durable to what the average infantry squad carries as an APC (Both can be taken out by HAT/LAT, Both are fairly impervious to small arms). I recommend that people try "Motorized infantry". Keep in mind that at least 1 engineer, and as many medics as possible, are essential to the success of the strategy.

Update: apparently I didn't watch the loading screen for ramiel long enough, and now I can't download the BFR demo. If someone who is either a SM or someone who was in game could get it and upload it (it's 12-03-08, after OGT and Ejod), I'd definitely owe you 1, 2, or 3.

Riffraff, I downloaded the BR file for you. Thing is, it's 240mb. Tell me how you want me to send it to you and I will.

Re: Kashan 11/3/08 (M/D/Y) 3PM-6PM PST(GMT-8)
I had a 5 man humvee squad for this round and we spent most of the round defending north bunker. I had quite a few guys come through my squad from supporting emmber kicks and just the round takeing 2 and a half hours.
I think it was your vodnik squad that finally wiped our team off north bunker which was just my squad trying to hold on. That was one of the best rounds I have played. Having a HAT kit really helped when we encountered mutliple vodniks or bunkers and then we would all load up in the humvee roll up and storm the bunker we were trying to cap.
The US side came so close to holding south village just long enough to cap Mec outpost many times but constant counterattacks by the MEC team kept us off mec outpost. I think at one time a mec squad(probably your squad) had atleast three vodniks in the south bunker and anyone who tried to enter the front had no chance.
As bunkers fell we were just getting guys at North Village so it fell quickly too. Our team was then trying to stop the MEC teams quick assault on the US outpost.
The USA commander, I think it was "Zedic" did an awsome job communicateing, and giving constant battlefield updates letting squads know if they were going to be attacked soon.
A humvee or vodnik fully loaded in my opinion is a lot better than an apc in most cases because it is faster more manouverable, if it gets killed the squad can turn into a regular infatry squad, if loaded with an AT kit a it can deal with most armor threats it encounters and because of its speed and maouverablily can run away and avoid the fire much better than an apc.

That was us. I remember HAT missiles hitting inches from the gun, but to no avail. At times I had trouble convincing my guys that hunkering down inside the bunker was the best option, but obviously it was a bitch and a half for you to break. I assume you were the squad with the 2 hummers that, after you took back SB, started killing our empty vods, at which time we rolled up behind you and took out at least 1 hummer?

I was in charge of the squad that did most of the US fighting at SV. I lost track of how many times we took/neutralized the flag just to be pushed of by what seemed like more then half their team were there and it was really a good break from the normal fighting in the bunkers. So much more fun and diversity.
Was a very good round. The teams were well balanced and seemed like there was a good organisation on both sides.
My squad again we were getting ready to mount another attack on SV were waiting to grounded_pilots squad to link up with us in NV. I think we met 5 min earlier in the middle of the desert where we ran away and figured you were moving north to try and flank the bunkers or something so moved to NV and set up waiting for you. I was wrong but we got you in the end.I get the "smart" idea to go scout NV and take down the inevitable firebase that is always set there, but get intercepted by 2 hummers and a Blackhawk. Wiped.
Did the MEC team have 4 FoBs up the entire game. it seemed like you had an endless supply of vodnics coming to SV. We were really getting pounded there sometimes but my squad still had a positive K/D when I had to leave and we had been able to fight back unlike when the tanks are on the map. Was really enjoyable and looking forward to more kashan 16.
I really liked having Zedic as my commander. That was the best communication that I have ever had with a commander. there was never a doubt that he was talking to me, what he wanted me to do or anything that I usually have a problem with with normal commanders. If people are becoming so bored when playing that they have to resort to this immature behaviour I will give them something to do, call it a project. The project is "appeal a ban". - Wicks

My squad had the hat and one of thsoe hummers the other was mp40's squad. Your engineer mined our humvee so it was usless from then on, AFter moving from north bunker to the inside of south bunker we were finally able to get a good shot on your vodniks and killed one of them I think, they were placed in very nice spots almost impossible to kill.
