Seven Gates, PR - Monday 29-Dec-2008 ~10pmET, British

Seven Gates, British - "FIENDISH", squad 2

Much thanks to my squaddies tonight who held it together during 54 minutes of crazy intense firefights tonight on Seven Gates! Also, much thanks to |TG-6th|Skud for some patient commanding, and major_buddha for showing up with his squad at just the right times!

We started by forming up @ the British Deployment Area and taking a support truck up to Outpost. We had a good roll-out and got moving pretty quickly (again thanks to major_buddha for switching trucks when we both jumped in)...however due to some crappy driving on my part we were slow to arrive. We got there just after another squad, hung around to help cap, and then built some goodies per Skud's orders.

After that we were ordered to assist the attack on River Fort. That's when it got hectic. I suspect that we did not get to River Fort nearly as fast as Skud would have liked, but we ended up engaged with PLA coming out of the wooded area north of River Fort as well as a flanking squad that somehow got west of River Fort.

Once those threats were down we started in at River Fort. It was crazy intense fighting there and the PLA hammered us! We were repelled a couple times and it really felt like a back&forth fight over the worlds most important piece of land. Rockets, grenades, smoke, arty, bullets, knives, harsh language, and pointed sticks all came to play.

If we weren't reinforcing one squad, then another squad was reinforcing us. I remember checking the flag progress several times to see it coming our way, stopping, losing it, having it come back...amid constant contact reports and calls for "MEDIC!!" (plenty of clutch revives and calls to "Don't give up!")

The squad really came through! The round ended up being a 25 pt win for the British...it was a bloody hard win though.

This screen cap is just after we had recaptured River Fort, and major_buddha's squad was trying to build a firebase below the west wall. That firebase just would not stay up and the contact reports were from the SW, S, N, and East, just nuts...the Zaboo's PLA were shooting us from everywhere it seemed.

I'd love to hear comments on the round from players on both sides.

    Cheers,
    |TG-6th| eGoatBoy

I was leading the brit apc squad and we had a really good start first neuralizing the enemy TOW emplacements then rushing riverfort. We were able to neutralize riverfort until supercobra got his hands on a hat kit and really disrupted our apcs. With apcs being constantly down we only ran 2 apcs with the other 2 men sneaking up on the enemy firebase spotted by our sniper and destroying it multiple times. With what we thought were all the enemy HATs down and the TOW emplacements destroyed we moved into the Courtyard but were only able to do a bit of damage until we were killed.

Unlike most Seven Gates rounds that were boaring this one wasnt in a continuos stalemate and one side was always trying to push and getting pushed.

I am truely amazed Skud did not order ninjas to ninja our rear flags. We didn't have anyone defending them, maybe that is why it was so intense on the frontlines for those not stuck in a command post. It was a good round.

My squad constructed a firebase near H7 and deployed 2 road blocks using razorwire and sandbags to stop, or at least slow down, any advancing Brit apcs. I assigned a H-AT to SuperCobra (much to the chagrin of chris apparently ) and we then moved to the ridge in G6 to place our HMGs and another sandbag for defensive purposes. Our HMGs rained green fire down on any advancing Brit troops or light vehicles we saw, and with SuperCobra on the H-AT, we made quick work of the first wave of Brit armor.

We did lose our first firebase to British sappers that snuck past our line, presumably along the 8 row (far south) of the map, and that disrupted our defenses for a while. We did manage to round up another APC or two before the round ended with a combination of LAT and a TOW shot from McGann. All in all, it was a fun round, and we held the road access to our main from any British armor advance.

I was SLing on the Chinese side of the game but I sadly had to leave halfway through the game. I tasked my squad to defend river fort. All hell broke loose when those APCs rolled right into the fort. That mixed with British infantry support was enough to flush us out. Then, my squad took positions on the SouthWest corner of the Fortress. From there, I was able to direct MG fire and TOWs at River Fort as friendly squads began to move in. I then had to leave. Great job both teams!

Road blocks? Cool. I got our whole squad killed by eating a rocket while demonstrating how not to drive the support truck on our initial approach to River Fort. I'll blame SuperCobra for that

BTW...those HMG's were damn effective. They killed me as well. If I could, I'd blame SuperCobra for that as well

Yea, that was a really great round of seven gates. Sorry that I had to be such a pain in the A** to the apc squad

GoatBoy kept hiding in the Panic Room at River Fort. That's all I have to say.

Major Buddah and Goatboy may have absorbed a majority of bullets, but it was well worth it...

Hey fellas, I don't read/post in the forums much but I am happy to see people posting on this one. Thanks goatboy for the props. I have only experienced gameplay like this match a couple of times on TG PR server. It was one of those epic battles that had me thinking about the game long after it was done. Def a top 5 battle ever.

I knew we were going to be challenged by looking at the players on the other team. I think we had lost the game before. I was extremely pleased to see Skud jump in the CO spot, I knew then we had a fighting chance. The right CO makes all the difference. I was also pleased with my squaddies, they did a fine job following orders and offering their suggestions when I asked. It was teamwork at its best (sorry for not remembering names ;-))

We did indeed get off to a fast start with capturing outpost and constructing bunkers and firebases. Our squad was instructed to hold the southern part of the map and perhaps move across the river when we had APC support. We held strong and had to rebuild the firebase at least once. In the thick of it we lost outpost and I think we all felt a little hopeless (I think skud posted something like it could be over...) but me and a couple other squads scurried back to outpost to subdue the enemy and then back to our firebase in C7.

When the time came skud instructed us to build/defend at river fort. 1st time with CO truck was unsuccessful and finally I dropped a couple of boxes when we had the flag and got the base up. One or two of my squad members were shoveling when the attack came from the north. We were ousted and I recommended skud to send squad 2 (goatboy) to finish off the job. He did and shortly after it was raining artillery on our precious bunker. Oh well, I thought that might have been another turning point but we kept fighting the good fight and prevailed.

Disposable - so that was you who built the enemy bunker behind enemy lines, very clever. I remember thinking, "why the heck is there enemy barbed wire along our road way back here?" when I was driving the supply truck out of our base.

Again, thanks to skud, goatboy, and the countless others on our team who followed orders and fought like a team. This is what keeps me coming back and what TG is all about. The entire game was very intense.

I believe I was the squad leader that along with another squad that initially rushed into river fort, and maybe held it for a tiny bit, not really getting the flag turning as quick as i had wanted to do so. I completely forgot that engineers had grappling hooks so it took our second rush to actually get inside, i remember calling a arty strike to the woods sw of the bridge at river fort, and someone how got over the wall and me and another guy raced to the panic room area.

We were ultimately killed off one by one, and as my squadmates were killed in the lower section i had them wait at the island to the north, knowing that i soon would succumb to death in the panic room.

After I died and my fellow squad mates waited patiently not firing off a single shot but helping me give locations of enemy movement to the commander, we started our approach onto Outpost. However I forgot a very important part of the equation, Seven Gates is a Counter-attack map, and the outpost flag was bugged.

So we entered the area from the north west hills, almost going into the dome of death zone near the british main, i instructed everyone that we were not to fire a single shot. They complied and we set our rally and moved in.

After hearing that it was a counter attack map we had to wait, it was interesting because at first i thought to immediately destroy the bunker, but after realizing that we in fact couldn't take outpost yet i told my guys to hold their positions in a half-upside down circle perimeter until it was time.

Then the time came, we immediately destroyed the bunker and took the outpost flag and dug in. It was hard though because there was a scimitar very close by, that i believe had one LAT shot in it, but it really didn't dent it.

As a SL it was the first time in .8 that i experienced capping the outpost flag (i only had done it in .75 prob 3 times) and then everything got crazy. I remember the Command truck coming in and bullets whizzing by us left and right. After we lost it to neutral we still held on but eventually it was lost again.

instead of following behind the brits we broke west, where a squad had constructed a FB and we helped dig and set up some wire in odd places etc.

We then circled around and took out a rally point and tried to find a FB in the South hills overlooking the river bank. I literally was standing next to a british officer during that time, i don't think neither of us knew that we were right next to each other. Fortunately i got the jump on him and well, unloaded a full clip of my trusty officer designed gun into his face (the scene on private ryan when tom hanks character is talking to the radio operator at dog one came to mind, if u remember the scene where he then taps the guy on the shoulder and his face is no longer there.)

We never found the enemy FB, but had intermittent contact and tried to get back into the fight.

As I talked with zaboo he told me where the enemy fb at river fort was (the one i was initially looking for must have already gone down and the remnants were what i saw, or it could have been one of ours that was destroyed previously) was and that the arty was up, so we knew the fight was coming to an end, and for the first time arty hit right on the button. It was a huge morale booster and it destroyed the entire fb area including the trucks. If only we had ten minutes more we would have taken river fort.

We did encounter one moronic bunny hopper who i still have to identify and well, he died and ended up getting his buddy behind him killed as well.

It was a fun round and all i can remember was qfly being the trusty medic, he doesn't let anyone die on his watch, i highly recommend him to anyone on any round.

To be honest i set a rally on the far north side at the beginning thinking that there was going to be a rush of brits, (i think there was one lone sniper, on the bottom part of the chinese side, who was in the open and was taken out quite easily)trying to be sneaky but alas they didn't go that route, but it did enable us to get to river fort much quicker initially.
