Qwai River 8/01/2009 - congrats to the chinese team.
Just had a close game on Qwai that was won by the us. However I was impressed with the chinese team in dealing with the Tow humvees, ambushing them. As a result the tanks roamed undisturbed on the American side of the river. A dedicated anti tow squad of 2 SpecOps an apc and a HAT gunner could have kept down the tows for good.
It bugs me to no end when people request assets to be nerfed or maps to be changed, because taking on those assets head on does not work out most of the time, instead of trying to figure out how to bypass the problem.
Glad to see there are some servers that do not forget the tactical part in a tactical game

Re: Qwai River 8/01/2009 - congrats to the chinese team.
I had a similar great game yesterday on Qwai. The us pushed us back to estate, yet we came back and won, taking mine and processing as Chinese.
Now the interesting thing was, that I was running an infantry squad with a tank in it! I had tried this several times, without real succes. This time we were able to guard south bridge, fall back to estate, recap fishing village in a combined arms assault with another infantry squad and finally we took mine as after recapping fishing, our team had moved in a blitz on governement office. During all this, the tank didn't die!
It was only killed at mine by a mortarstrike. Someone still needs to explain to me how the us (spoke to makaveli about this, he was their co) got 2 mortar strikes in 10 minutes! What an awful, well glitch I suppose.
The tow did shoot at our tank 3 our four times, but he missed because we had the tank sort of 'hull down' by covering it with sandbags. This made the tow miss all of his shots by a hair.
I have to disagree about the TOw not being overpowered though. As it is now, 1 TOW shot anywhere on a tank will destroy it immediatly (not even treaded). But, a tank shot will NOT destroy a TOW in one shot or kill its crew. Sometimes it will, but not all the time. Now I am no expert in the real life situation, but that seems totally wrong to me.
In the end it leads to TOW sniping infantry, and in fact the TOW being the us' tank, while the chinese tank is near useless. The only real disadvantage the TOW has is being vulnerable to L-at. In all other fields, TOW>TANK.
I hope and think this will be adjusted in the next version. Say a front armor TOW shot would leave the tank treaded. That would be a reasonable compromise I think. If the tank is not supported then, a second shot by the TOW can still finish it off easily. However in a face to face stand off, the tanks would have a marginal advantage.
PS kudos to that squad if you read this. I can never remember the names of whole squads, but that was an awesome round to play and a great squad to lead.****** Fabulous under Fire ******

I was the medic for Al's squad that night.
BigGaayAl - that was some great fun on Qwai. Just keeping the tank alive for most of the round is an accomplishment. Good squadleading. Always a pleasure.

TOW vs tank been tweaked
Tank shell vs humvee is definitely a bug.. a very annoying bug. absolutely any tank 120mm to a jeep should be insta-kill, but for some reason does not always occur.
10min arty is definitely a bug and needs more investigation.

Re: Qwai River 8/01/2009 - congrats to the chinese team.
Nice to hear that info fuzz.
I have heard of this kind of thing with arty before, but this is the first time I was watching it from below. The first one took out our tank, then shortly after the second one took out our FOB! I had payed special attention to place them apart excpecting ONE jdam/arty strike
.
I have heard commanders say to me several times that the area attack bar fills up imediatly after use of it. I could not really confirm in game at those times. Perhaps the information that it could be that it fills up immediatly after use, can help in some way with finding the cause.
I wouldn't consider it a high priority though. I haven't really seen this bug as a game changer. This round it could have, but luckily, the tickets ran out in our favor before they could exhaust us with the ground assault.****** Fabulous under Fire ******

That was a great round Al, your use of sandbags was key. Ive never seen a tank last that long on Qwai. Great squad leading and organization made that one of the most fun rounds ive had on Qwai in a long while

Re: Qwai River 8/01/2009 - congrats to the chinese team.
Not really tbh. A good TOW crew can reliably kill a good tank crew anywhere on the map usually. Your turret in a tak for one simply doesn't spin fast enough to be able to look behind you in time. Once you are spotted, a good TOW can just come right on the fog line, and kill you before you see it.
Sry for hijacking the thread a bit btw

Re: Qwai River 8/01/2009 - congrats to the chinese team.
Well I kind of highjacked my own thread here. True, the TANK has very little chances to deal with a tow, but a spec ops can ambush it rolling out of base or an apc has the speed and firepower to temporarily operate in hostile terrain to hunt down the tow. You have like 2 or 3 people out of the game dealing with the TOW humvee, true, but on the other hand you gain 2 tanks that can almost operate with impunity.
That goes for most maps, there is almost always a way around. On fools road I ran an AT Team to take on the militia tanks. 2 HAT gunners in a Landrover gave those tanks that usually crush an unorganized british team a hard time. While on most other servers players complain how horribly stacked Operation Barracuda is in the favour of the Chinese on other servers the team found a workaround by simply deploying in realitvely safe areas.IN GAME NICK cap_Kilgore
