Asad Khal AAR January 25th 2009 from the MEC Perspective

    INITECH Squad:

    |TG-31st|Mr.Bob_Vila
    Wargasm_UK - Medic
    SilencerDL - Rifleman/L-AT
    |TG|Qfly - Medic
Bishyop (not sure on correct spelling) - Rifleman
One other player who's name I can't remember.

Initially I had my squad spawn in the upper right hand area, where we grouped up, took a logistics truck and a support truck and moved out. I instructed my squad members that I requested 2 medics and the rest were rifleman or rifleman specialist, no snipers/marksmen and right away there were no problems.

Initially I planned on setting up a FB where actually I believe the 10th squad ended up setting up a FB, and while looking at the map, I saw they were heading into that direction so I re-routed my squad to move to the area towards the west over looking the waterway, we got there, dropped the crates and set up an initial RP, at this point we were taking sporadic gunfire, and at the same time were capping the flag, upon an error of judgement on my part we were in fact too close to the other FB, so I had Qfly head back with the logistics truck to rearm and set up an initial RP, and put the support truck in the back part of the area so it would not be destroyed.

The fighting soon erupted, and it kind of felt like we were fighting in Beirut in the 80's. We caught a British squad that had moved across the bridge east of our position and started to defensively protect our RP area and put suppressing fire on the enemy units. During this time as we were taking fire from the east, we started to also take fire from the south across the water, though the fire from the east was coming from a small building up the hill. It was at that point that Silencer DL who had a L-AT suggested using it on the window opening as there were two or three British troops dug in.

I opened up with suppressing fire, and shooting through the cloud of smoke that was accumulated to the right of the building, a medic was trying desperately to revive a fallen British soldier, and we were not going to let this happen. Silencer with extreme precision was able to shoot the L-AT through the window about 50 or so meters from our current position and take out the two inhabitants. As I went down the stairs I was ambushed by a lone British medic coming up the stairs in the building we were held up in. At this point 2 other members were also taken out and we had to spawn on the FB west of the area we were in.

Upon spawning in, we immediately under fire, there was a strong british force attacking the fire base in the E4/5 area (not exactly sure of the FB location) I was taken down and so was the medic who revived me, it was at this point that I made the decision of re-spawning and heading north immediately from the FB.

When we regrouped, and moved north of the buildings, we were greeted by byshop i believe who had commandered the support truck from our previous location and picked us up. Qfly had moved the logistics truck to the A4 area all the way west as I had previously asked, and there I thought that setting up a FB was the right idea.

I had Wargasm follow Qfly back to the MEC main to so Qfly would have transportation back, I deployed the FB and moved up 190 meters along the river bed to set up HMG's, and thats where we ran into some advancing British troops. They had taken refuge in the barn across the water and were suppressing and killing us, I didn't realize it at the time but it was a decoy for an advancing British squad who was making their way across the water.

We then set up a RP in an area similar to where our first one was set, and with the last 2 guys trying to defend the FB, we started taking gunfire from the hill to our north, and at the same time saw a squad taking fire from enemies in the same building as they were, actually a floor above from where they were. I was able to toss 2 quick grenades onto that top part of the building, not sure if I took them out or not, and then I instructed my squad to start to put fire on the northern hill and the building in front of it.

It was in fact an entire squad that had us pinned down for a good 10 minutes, somehow they kept spawning, and somehow the grenades I and the rest of my squad were throwing were actually going over the hill (we were so strong that we didn't even know it), we were eventually able to overpower the British squad and overrun their RP in the meantime. At some point during this engagement I fell to a British soldier to my rear, as I went down, the rest of my squad moved in for the kill and also moved up the hill to take out the remaining troops, and clear the Barn which we though the enemy RP was hidden in. After being revived, and making sure that the medics were ok, and hearing that they revived other members we made sure there were no Brits in the AO, and moved down the hill to the water line. - This is where a lot of the fun began.

As we moved down, we set a RP, and immediately exchanged gunfire to our south, and to the building diagonal from where we were that lay right on the waters edge. The British squad on that building and the building behind it, were unloading on us, and the medics in my squad did a great job in reviving us, and other squads and at the same time putting suppressing fire on the building along the waters edge.

We fought along side members of the 10th squad and I also instructed all squad members a few minutes earlier to use the rifleman non-scoped rifles, to ensure a stronger suppression effect and a better chance of killing/critically wounding the British force that was desperately trying to cross the bridge.

After what seemed like ten minutes the building along the waters edge was clear, I moved up with Wargasm to that building and started taking fire every which way, the other members of the squad were putting fire straight down the road to the bridge and the 2 story building in front of the one wargasm and I were.

Wargasm covered the west side, as i covered the southern doorway, we were pinned down, but it was oh so much fun. I noticed the squad next to us had moved up and my squad members also moved up to support them, I fell to a hail of bullets at least twice but was able to be revived. I then told wargasm that I was going to throw smoke as a diversion to the west side, after popping green, and gray smoke we moved south and were tossing grenades, incendiary grenades and engaging British forces within a few meters of our location. Silencer, Qfly, and bishyop saw us hunkered down behind the wall and i immediately poured on the fire, it was quite interesting at one point i stood up to fire, noticed i was out, and immediately switched to pistol, using up my pistol ammo, and switching back and forth.

During this time I made sure that our squad was on the same line as the squad to our left, even though we had no CO, and were not on the same TS channel we moved flawlessly together, and kept the line of fire up, suppresssing and killing the british squads we encountered.

At the end of the Day the MEC Team was victorious with a 1-0 victory.

I must congratulate the medics in my squad and the other medics in the other squads. They didn't let anyone give up, unless it was the last resort.

This was the first time I played this map, and it is awesome, I had so much fun, and I am glad to see it in the rotation, it is a very intense cqb map, that requires coordination and teamwork to the highest degree.

I look forward to playing it again soon and hope to experience the same amount of intensity, and teamwork as my squad, and the rest of team that participated did last night.

I was in the 10th squad and it was an awesome fight, no stop combat, neither team giving in. Our squad leader had us relocate and flank three times cause we where meeting to strong resistance. And I have never seen the medic kit being used this well on both sides.

I concur on being flanked, it was great practice to go from an advancement attacking strategy to right away turn around and protect the flanks and advance that way pushing the enemy back until they are all terminated and their RP is either overrun, or knifed.

It was great two, because each squad would be shooting forward but not stepping on each others toes, if you have ever seen the horrible movie called Navy SEALs theres a scene towards the end when a seal team goes to beirut and above them there is fighting and Michael Biehn's character says "its not our war" there were similar examples of that in that map, but every squad knew what they were doing, so we didn't step on each others toes, and we held the line, while advancing.

Haid their been ten more minutes, I think that we could have pushed them back further while still holding the line.

The thing was that the pace was extremely fast, I was glad that I was able to communicate to my squad coherently amid the hail of gunfire, i think i might have to watch the BFR, and really see what went on with other squads on the MEC side, and see how in future rounds how I can dig my squad in on both sides better.

I love the fact that you can quote a movie like "Navy Seals"
It dose not get much more army-nerd than that.
