AAR Ejod 31JUL09

Objective:
a. Set up forward firebase to support coalition efforts in Ejod City.
b. Locate, destroy, and participate in the destruction of enemy Armor assets in Ejod City battle.
c. Provide resupply for warfighters on front lines.

Operators:
|TG-6th|AFsoccer - SRAW Heavy AT
|TG-6th|Ferris Bueller - Field Medicine
|TG-6th|Liquid Watch - Rifleman
|TG-6th|Google - Grenadier
OghMuffin - Automatic Rifleman

AAR:
Immediately embarked from US base of operations with Ferris to create rally south of Ruins. Squad falls in. Firebase constructed, in courtyard just N. of orange enterable two-story building. Razorwire defenses constructed in L-shape along center road to prevent enemy from easily walking in. Also provides some basic cover if superior enemy force from the N. approaches firebase. AFsoccer is equipped with SRAW HAT, and already coordinates with friendly TOW operations lead by |TG-X|Portable.Cougar to destroy an enemy tank.

A machine gun nest is constructed on roof of two story building to provide fire support for W. Ejod City, and provides excellent line of fire down center road to the Archway in city center. Coordination of M203, M249, and M-2 Browning fire lock down open areas of city and the crucial center roadway in city. Excellent spotting by otherwise unoccupied Ferris Bueller allows for long range adjustment and "walking" fire onto the enemy at long ranges.

I provided resupply for friendly troops in Charlie Five to help combat enemy Armor, heavy infantry, and construction of a firebase. Continued resupply ensures ammo is sufficient for anti-armor operations on Western side of the map.

Ferris and AFsoccer provide close-support for friendly units in Charlie Five with SRAW HAT.
After Ferris and AFsoccer's return, enemy presence in ruins S. of city center creates a firefight along the center alley in ruins. With covering fire a razorwire barrier is constructed, with the advice from Major AFsoccer. Enemies are eliminated, and we continue with anti-armor and resupply operations.

A second breach of the perimeter occurs about 50 minutes into the battle. This time, the enemy is successful in overrunning the firebase and rally point for our squad. We were forced to retreat to the US occupied gas station. The battle ends with a 4-0 US forces victory at approximately the 1 hour mark.

Lesson learned:
Perimeter security should have received greater attention after the first firefight in ruins (AFsoccer was right, as usual...). The enemy was almost free to get underneath our E flank, without us paying enough attention, and easily overran the Firebase and rally point, forcing us to discontinue our easy billeting of the 2 story orange building south of ruins.

In this loss however, we did set up an excellent machine gun position, and an even better Anti-tank position. Confirmation of numbers is waiting to come in, but it appears we assited in, if not destroyed, 2 tanks, 1 apc, and several enemy infantry squads operations.

Solid round.

Re: AAR Ejod 31JUL09

I still have not experienced Ejod in .86, great write up though, nice wire setup.
