Monday Night's Password Games
Man it was fun tonight. With the password brought some very serious tactical play. It was almost like learning how to play the game all over again. Lots of fun. The next few months are really going to rock with more nights like tonight.
Thanks for the fun everyone. It is great to play where EVERYONE was working together as a team. I remember one round where my squad and another squad spent almost the entire round opposing eachother accross a couple of hills. It was incredible. Sorry to you guys that had to put up with me as commander for the last few rounds before we took the password off. As we lost more and more players to the late night, commanding MEC became more and more challenging. It was still a blast. |

There was also one battle in particular where a squad of MEC captured the USMC artillery, destroyed it and dug in. We tried to retake it from West beach for about 5 minutes, but they wouldn't let us advance. Suddenly, out of the blue, one of their choppers nosedived on their position, wiping out their entire squad. Talk about help from an unexpected source ![]() I can't wait till this kind of night becomes common on the server!! |

Re: Monday Night's Password Games
Even though I was only able to play for a round and a half last night, it completely rocked! I saw fantastic teamwork and memorable skirmishes--very much different than the pub play I saw sunday evening on the same server. This game is something else entirely when you get on a server that has dedicated tactical members playing. I just wish my maps loaded faster than in five minutes
. I've generally been a CS:S player here at TG but with BF2 coming out today I don't think I'll be loading it up for a while.

Re: Monday Night's Password Games
It was wonderful. EVERYONE was on a squad, EVERYONE was following orders, and consequently, we had those great battles.
While I was comm on MEC, I witnessed some fantastic assaults by the USMC on the contruction site. Wave after wave, while I kept two squads in for defense. I can only imagine how much fun it was on the ground.

I had a great time. It's amazing how much more effective everyone is without several random people running around. I know i lived a lot longer as a sniper with everyone in a squad thats for sure.

Re: Monday Night's Password Games
I enjoyed last night, real team atmosphere and not as rushed as usual. but, i have an idea for next time, instead of every one joining and just picking any random squad, we could do a squad roster here at the forums and maybe rotate the commander position if it gets old for the current commander, set squads would improve gameplay, because i still had my squad members comming and going, which got quite anoying. Hope its a regular thing we do.

Re: Monday Night's Password Games
Indeed, it was a great time! I played last night as "PolishBoogieman." At one point, our squad was defending the hotel against two squads of MEC. We were taking a beating...down to two men, one of whom was the SL. I feared we would lose him and have to spawn away...but then from the clouds came both the Apache and the Blackhawk ...they descended in unison and hovered 20 ft. over our heads, providing cover and dropping off a reinforcement squad. We held that bloody flag. It was one of those gaming moments that I'll always remember.
I used to play here a while back, before the name changed to TG. Used to play a lot of Day of Defeat. Those were the days, I thought...gaming won't be like that for me every again. I was wrong. BF2 rocks, and the people at TG know how the game is supposed to played. The diff between TG and the pubbies is immense. Kudos...I plan on visiting you quite often! |

I'd like to echo everyone else's thoughts. This is the PREMIER server for tactical play. There are some real pro's here. Despite nVidia's claims, THIS is how it's meant to be played.

Re: Monday Night's Password Games
Last night was really good. I guess I got on too late because their was only about 28 people on when I first signed on. Good teamwork was still going on though so it made it very enjoyable.

Re: Monday Night's Password Games
Yeah, we have over 50 on for a good two hours when we first started.

I'd be all for setting up some organized squads the day before we do a passworded server. That could make for some interesting teams and even create some fun individual and squad rivalries. |

Also, our own Pokerface is finishing up a solution to help with the auto-balance -- Commanders and Squad Leaders will be exempt from team switching! This will be tested today and hopefully put into production very soon.
