Thumbs up UMSC's "TeamWork" squad and lastnight's games

I had FUN as SquadLeader last night

I just want to give a quick shout out to my squadmates from lastnight in squad Teamwork (which I reluctantly became SL of because the previous SL quit). That was awesome teamwork accross the board. I didn't get as much out of the squad as I wanted to (I don't mean in terms of your skillz, but in terms of leading you guys). I managed to get a few of you guys working as partners for some of it and it seemed to go very well. Again, good work fellas. I really enjoyed working with you. We got Best squad once or twice

Special mention to BudaHack (sp?) the medic who stuck with me during the swampy china map and the engineer guy on Karkland who was in my APC and kept it functioning at full health. I forget your tag.....Ross something? The rest of you were exceptional, but these two got the "boring" job of sticking close and supporting Squad Lead even in the thickest of skirmishes and pulled it off really well.

I don't know what was up with the rest of the USMC side last night, but WE managed to complete EVERY objective we were ordered to. We didn't fail ONCE, except on one of the China maps, we lost a control point for a bit. Wasn't really us to blame though; the UAV was revealing a couple of APCs and at least 15 troops comming in one of the main gates, plus they were in the trees and comming in on boats. We never lost any matches badly though, always seemed to be a mere 30 points or so away......

Also, Squad Wulfyn, was that you guys trying to assault the Northwestern point on Karkland? I remember seeing RonnieRaygun and Barry quite a few times, thus I'm assuming your squad was formed. How'd ya like our defense?

**Note to commanders --> Please THINK before you send squads somewhere. I can't count how many times last night you'd order us away from defense WHILE our post was being attacked just to send us to a point on the map that is ALREADY swarming with at least 2 allied squads? Why oh WHY??!? (*thats the only reason the NW point on Karkland was ever taken from us*) Hard to avoid the Wack-a-mole syndrome with orders like these.........ah well, everyone's learning.

Oh and WyzCrak and RinceWind: I may have seemed a little dissorganized during the match with you guys because I was afk for the first bit and had to get the squad up and running again, plus I didn't want to be squadlead by that point anymore. I'd be glad to have your on my squad Rincewind, don't let those couple of minutes of chaos fool you.

One last thing......I was banned lastnight......for a SINGLE tk at the beginning of a match......do your TK's carry over across maps? That has to be fixed....and that's why I "left" the game so suddenly guys.......couldn't get back in and didn't have the patience to go through TeamSpeak (or download it )

EDIT---> Ahhh, can I get this in the General Discussion Forum? My mistake.....

Re: UMSC's "TeamWork" squad and lastnight's games

I don't really know what was going on with the USMC side overall last night either. I was also unintentionally placed in the role of SL of one of our squads last night. Apart from a bit of misgivings and backtalk about taking up defense at certain positions as well as the quality of airsupport we had(which did in fact seem to be lacking a bit), I'd say we did quite well. I did have a connection drop right in the middle of an attack though, and I know that can be hard on a squad, but I got back into that same squad as a grunt pretty quick.

My thanks to Wyzcrak for taking the reigns towards the end of the power plant and for the next map. Its extremely reassuring as a SL to know that you can keep your head focused in your local situation because there's someone up there taking care of the grand scheme for you.

Every time I'm thrust into the position of SL it just makes me respect all the others I've served under even more.

Hey Jedi - yeah that was us - banging our heads up against the walls of your defences. I think we acquitted ourselves ok, as I think you guys were in a much stonger position. And at the time I didn't like your defence much at all (damn you!! ) lol

Then we buggered off and took the east side back

FYI, unless you are a supporting member (with a monthly or yearly subscription) an admin on teamspeak would not have been able to help you get in the game. You can be permanently banned for requesting a spot when not a supporting member.

Re: UMSC's "TeamWork" squad and lastnight's games

Yeah last night as usmc sucked pretty hardcore. No one was flying the planes, orders were random, I think there was a disproportionate amount of pubbies and less TG. I kept getting in jets for a while and seeing just how well I could fly without a joystick. I actually managed to kill some stuff on the ground, and I got two kills when I took down a helicopter. Unfortunately I took down the Heli by smashing into his tail rotor. I was having pretty good luck avoiding their AA but that was the only thing I could do until I hit the ground or the crane or some nuclear reactor. The best part of the night was when I jumped into the cockpit of the cobra and this random other guy gets in the gunner seat. I would hold him still over a tank...and he would spew minigun rounds at it. Whats worse he kept getting in my helicopters gun seat! I eventually TK'd him just so someone competent would get in. Me and the next guy actually went out and killed some stuff. Towards the end I was just screwing around in the jets again.

THIS IS MY UNITED STATES OF WHATEVER!

Re: UMSC's "TeamWork" squad and lastnight's games

I have found the hardest thing to do in this game is shoot something out of the air with ground AA. I'll usually wait until after flares are dropped, and they still miss about 90% of the time. They're almost pointless in shooting aircraft down, and only good at spooking them so they stay out of the area, because apparently some people believe the AA is effective at taking them down

.....and then you won the round

At the end when it was 32-32 I think, I just told my squad to stop defending one of the southern points and storm in, killing as much as you can, because I knew it would be a tight ending. Unfortunately the UMSC was handled at taht point and I remember seeing the score drop to like 12 - 28 or something like that....and then we lost....

Fun though

Yes, but I was banned unfairly. It's not like I was JUST booting up the game. I'd been playing for 2-3 hours and just got banned for a SINGLE TK. I was under the impression that you could voice your concerns over matters like these. I was ALREADY in the game.......not like I was trying to get a "reserved slot", just back in. Remember a SINGLE TK.

Re: UMSC's "TeamWork" squad and lastnight's games

I was on about 8 to 10 CDT last night. Was in a squad and having a lot of fun, changed map a couple of times then on one map change I came in as SL. The other guy who had been SL all night was there, so why did I get thurst into the SL slot? I sure didn't want it.

Another question, when as squad leader how do you know when the CO is talking to you. I didn't know if it was the CO or somebody on the squad.

Great battles last night and a lot of fun. Thanks to all who played on both sides.

You'll see a huge yellow star come up with his name under your radar. Otherwise a squadmate would be a green symbol.

I've had people talking to me and nothing showed up, but yes most of the time you see the star.

Of course...and for that matter you could contact an admin on TS. But rest assured by the time the admin unbanned you, you're spot was filled. Just wanted to make sure you knew not to request a spot. You could be banned whether you did it without knowing you couldn't or not.

I don't know who was leading Squad 4 last night, but I want to shake his hand.

Damn near every time he addressed me on comms, he referenced his squad number. He also was in CONSTANT communication with me, the commander -- a luxury I didn't enjoy with all of the other squads.

Darkilla: In short, NS is pretty much really fast chess. With guns. Apophis: I haven't seen anyone say that SM's are better than non-SMs. Nordbomber: This is THE first server I've seen where either side can comeback from out of seemingly nowhere with the right teamwork. en4rcment: I have NEVER experienced the type of gameplay that I have found here. Nightly I am amazed at the personalities and gaming talent. Root: Welcome to TG. Feel free to punctuate your sentences correctly. Monkerz: Its gonna take all my skills to beat those boys off in the future.

Yeahhhhhhhhh, I was squad 5.....ANyway, I was only under your command for a bit, then you said you had to go do something, but we're better, honest!! As I was saying I was afk for a bit, because we were getting food/drinks btw rounds. All I remember is you ordering us to keep the skies clean.....then as we were all split up looking for aircraft, you ordered us to take a point........

That was the round I got kicked shortly after you left, Wyzcrak

Tarpan, was that you? Actually, there are many SLs who are really getting into the hang of things. This stuff really helps the commander out.
