Re: Wednesday night's fun and hilarity (let me count the ways)

I didn't like how two squads couldn't take on one holding a flag in the MEC main base while the rest of the USMC army was on the western side of the map against just my squad and some of squad 2 I think...I was yelling at the commander going "TELL THEM TO DO THEIR JOB!"

Loads of fun though =) Too bad it's not ranked, I don't care about stats but I'm missing out on the persistent feature of the game.

Well, 2:1 odds means almost nothing when the 1 is solidly entrenched in a good defensive position. Like last night on the wetlands; at one point there were 3 MEC squads attacking the southwest flag, but we just couldn't push them out.

I love being commander. Trouble is, the time my computer would take to load and verify the map could be measured on the calendar, so the comm spot was taken before I got on the server.

Now that my new hard drive is in, maybe I can get in some quality comming tonight.

It was on the Karkland map, not the wetlands (that was funny though, we all tried to take that SW flag for half the game). The thing is, the USMC wasn't entrenched, they would just cycle around those 3 flags : /

Also, from the way it sounded via the commander talking to those squads, they weren't talking to him or anything so he couldn't really help 'em out too much.

I guess it just shows that when every squad isn't successful it can wreck havoc on your plans.

Join the MEC side. For some reason it is not uncommon for the MEC CO to be AWOL for the first 5 minutes of the game until someone finally gives in and takes up the position.

Re: Wednesday night's fun and hilarity (let me count the ways)

I tried my hand at command of a partial squad(USMC) on Karkand around midnight Central time. First time I really tried it much, but when I logged on there were 3 full squads and one that was labelled something like "Roy = Gay" which was IMO pretty inappropriate and I sure as heck wasn't going to join it.

So I fired up a new one and eventually settled at about a total squad size of 4. We had a lot of fun doing defense around the southernmost city flag for the majority of the evening. Defense on that map is interesting, the flags are close enough together you can shift your position a little on one side or another of the flag and be in a good position to provide crossfire when squads are attacking nearby bases or sneaking down S to get the US arty.

I tried to remember to always say "squad 4 is doing X" when talking to the commander (which varied a few times during the map) but it's tricky to remember to do when your adrenaline gets pumping. I also have to keep restraining myself from running into attack but rather letting my very competent squadmates do it while I support them. I do have some new respect for the Support kit gun (the SAW?). Positioned up on a roof overlooking some of the eastern alleyways in S Karkand, I would regularly get 3-4 kills in a row mowing down a squad moving through. Definitely spray and pray though...

Re: Wednesday night's fun and hilarity (let me count the ways)

Last night was my first real attempt at leading a squad, I really have to thank the guys in squad 3 last night around 12:00 to 2:30 am EST. You guys rocked thanks for listening to my orders and making my first experiance as SL a great one. I just hope I did a good enough job :\.

Im terrible at remembering names but I think it was
iniminicus
|TG|Bagsby (I think this is right)
Ceekay
and the guy who's name that starts with an R ( you were an awsome medic)
Sorry guys was pretty hectic so I couldn't really remember your names :|.

I was commanding USMC at that point. It was one squad defending most of the time, but I sent a couple of squads to help them when there was a lot of red on the map. Whoever was leading the main defense squad did a great job. I think we ended up losing the map, but we were like 150 tickets down when I took over and only lost by like 30 or 40, so I consider it a win.
Next round we had a nice ticket lead and control of the map and then my wifi took a dump and it switched me to MEC when I reconnected.

Re: Wednesday night's fun and hilarity (let me count the ways)

Hey funked great job commanding we started comming back at the end on the wetlands map. Just wanted to say sorry though that I didn't follow some of your orders I would get ready to go but then I'd see some bad guys going toward the flag we were just defending so I really didn't know weather I should stay or go. Hope I helped even if it was a little.

Tell me about it. Watching the bodies fly all over the place is one of the few pleasures of commanding.

Don't fall for temptation! Try to carry out your current orders or else let the CO know about the situation and let him decide what to do with you. There's a chance he may already know what's up and is dealing with it with a different squad perhaps or maybe your update will make him change your orders.

Yea, eventually I changed the gameplan of my squad from "attack" to "harass", and we just kinda hung out around the outside of the base instead of trying to make it in.

We did have a commanding lead for a while, but then something changed about how the MEC was operating and we lost our cushion right quickly.

Cool Re: Wednesday night's fun and hilarity (let me count the ways)

Indeed, last night was a gg night. I don't start out as SL, but after a map or 2, it seems I'm granfathered into the position. Last night I had a few squads that worked well together. Plus, I able to do a decent amount blackhawk piloting with the side gunners roaring out shells. The last and funnest map of the night was interrupted by my Anti-Virus kicking in at 4AM. This totally locked the computer and it took about 5 minutes to alt-tab back into the game. By that time 1/2 my squad had left the game

GG to the guys on my squad last night. ... lots of fun. Some day I'll actually know what I'm doing
