Cool Re: Another Karkand doozy

I just wanted to thank everyone for a great Karkland match. I was witness to the ownage of the USMC on Daqing, Oman, and Fushe, so it follows that they should get one on us.

DrunkenSoul did a good job of supporting his squads and judging from the chatter he had his hands full. It was sooooo close in the end.

I also want to give props to my squad, C-TEAM. Early on in the evening we had the benefit of CANovar leading us and the air support of the deadly effective Cymba (with Rincewind gunning). Kojio was around with the heavy metal as well. Great coordination allows MEC to win Oman in a walk.

I had the pleasure (and pain) of leading my squad at Karkland. Props to everyone for working together and supporting each other:

BananaJuice
Clorox
Saik0
MileHighAko
Gordy77

I will not soon forget our squad sneaking across the river and working our way south through UMSC-infested streets to take the south most flag on the west side. SmokingTarpan must have taken it as a personal insult (did I run over your cat or something?), since we seemed to get a great deal of his attention (and arty!) for the next 10 min.

If ST is gunning for you, you must be doing something right...

Anyway, great job by everyone. Love this map. I DO feel bad for Cymba, though. Not a helo in sight. :-)

Re: Another Karkand doozy

Rincewind, I hated you when you kept staying just out of range of my shotgun on FuShe. I was the only person on base and I couldn't get close enough to you to take you out. It was a fun game though, I only got to go through about 1/2 the game on Karkand because my 2 hour limit, but hopefully I'll be able to stay for a full game next time. My poor Abrams that game, too many AT guys, I barely had time to fall back and repair. Props to you, MEC.

Haha, hey , I'm more than willing to wallow around in the muck with you ground-pounders every now and then

But yeah, Karkand is my favourite map, even w/o choppers

Re: Another Karkand doozy

I was in USMC squad 1 (SL JoeDev) and it seemed like we were either defending or assaulting the west beach against constant and heavy resistance for the entire second half of the round. Action-packed fun and adventure, indeed.

The last 10 minutes or so we defended the far, far north buildings against (I believe) Plisskin's squad. Simply put, there was a whole squad on either side of one particular corner and whenever someone came around they got hammered. More than once I managed to fight down the street and sprint around the corner only to find 3-4 MEC soldiers and, shortly thereafter, my bitter end.

Suggestion: maybe some weds or sat. we should set up a karkand and other maps and have all supporting members go against all other regs. Sound interesting?

Yeah, so I get hand cramps. When friendlies are in my sights. It happens to every good pilot. Really.

I had a fun time dancing with you TheMuncher. It was frustrating to have a full load of C4 on the UAV trailer, clicker in hand, and be shot inthe back full on by an engineer. Talk about humiliating.

Fushe Pass was a mess for two reasons:

1. No commander until about 30min in.
2. A squad that got capture-hungry and refused to follow orders.

I was really annoyed at #2, considering some of the people involved. There were two squads at the two flags at the very northwest of the map; they had the west flag and were pushing east. Partway into their assualt, I did a scan and saw an enemy squad sneaking into the west flag. I ordered both allied squads to fall back, and only one did. The squad that didn't fall back refused my order 3 times, proudly capturing a flag with a jeep and an APC spawn while letting their teammates behind them get slaughtered and losing a base with 3 armor and a helicopter spawn. For shame. After that, the whole area just turned into a bloodbath.

Aside from that, my only other bad moment was when I was CO on the oilfields map and those freaking jets wouldn't ignore the north flag (I was on the CHI side that round). Three times they destroyed their own tanks, once just as the assaulting squad was finally re-taking the base.

Overall though, I had a lot of fun as CO. Not sure how I'd do on an open night, but for password nights, seemed pretty cool.

Try to contact an admin via teamspeak when this happens. I know that sometimes people aren't able to use teamspeak AND BF2 and the same time. Many times an admin will be a squad leader. Don't hesitate to ask if there is an admin as an SL. Just make sure to ask first before relaying the problem.

If neither of those work, try to write down the name and PM an admin. I know that in the heat of battle that's hard, but it will help us correct the problem in the future.

And GREAT JOB last night Tarpan!

That wasn't my squad not following orders, was it? We were one of the two at the north flag, but I thought my squad followed orders pretty well. We were pretty much stuck at that flag the whole map.

Twice I spawned at the airstrip instead of our assigned location so I could get a plane to take care of enemy blackhawks and tanks. I was surprised that everytime I looked at the map, I saw no helos or planes in the air. When I spawned at the airstrip I found 2 blackhawks and 2 planes just sitting idle. It was no surprise we got hammered the way we did.

Re: Another Karkand doozy

It was an awesome fight. Bom's squad kept taking the most-western flag and we had some intense skirmishes with USMC squads trying to take it back. Once they realized one squad wouldn't do it, it seemed as if they sent the whole damn army on us

The moment I remember the most:
It was near the end, when the MEC was pinned at the flag just across the water. I was in the building to the north-west of the flag. I pop my head out to see Asch at the top of the stairs. I quickly move back in, thinking he didn't see me like the prior poor sap, who I shot in the back as he passed the buidling. Then I go boom! And I remember thinking "Asch...That grenade whore!"

LOL. If you knew my CSS nade abilities, you would never have thought I could hit the broad side of a barn.

All I was thinking at that point was the ticket were VERY close and there were a bunch of enemy infantry running around... I just kept tossing nades down on your location(s) and reloading, hoping to get your tix down.

No, it was another squad.

It probably was our squad but for all we knew we *were* following the CO's orders. IOW, only the SL knows what the CO's orders are. The squaddies get their orders from the SL and most of the round our orders were to attack or defend the NE flag.
