Wed nite pw - Karkand

OK Karkand tonite was the weirdest game I've played in yet. I had a USMC squad that took the NW base right away, then took the bridge. After running back to re-take the NW bridge, I noticed we had 3 of the four eastern flags already. We ended up at the river flag, then crossing, then putting the big squeeze on the MEC team's main base, having capped every other flag. It was nuts. But until we got to the eastern side and started pushing hard with the other squads (at about 10 minutes in), we saw maybe 6 bad guys the whole time.

So we're pounding the MEC base, killing people left and right, and of course the get a flag to the west. Somehow they're able to turn the tide and get most all of the flags, leaving us trapped with 2 on the east side. We go thru the meat grinder, bleeding tickets and trying to get another flag, and finally get one on the west. After that, it somehow turns into the classic USMC on the west/MEC on the East battle, with MEC holding onto the bridge, and winning by 20 I think, after we led by at least 50 most of the game.

It was a disappointing loss and a very very interesting game - many lead changes and changes of points of control...

Re: Wed nite pw - Karkand

The massive early hit to the MEC was the lack of freeze time. Only about 4 or 5 MEC had finished loading when the US already held half the east side. As I came to and saw the map it looked so bad that I was half hoping for a totall knockout just so I wouldn't have to play an hour of rapage. Props to my squad (err, all 50 of you - thanks to the PB turnover) and everyone else on the MEC side for that win. \o/

Also, check out http://www.tacticalgamer.com/battlefield-2-tactics-missions-discussion/57272-tarpan-r-l.html for information on a squad and tactic Tarpan was trying which I believe made the finall 30-40 point difference in the game.

Re: Wed nite pw - Karkand

That was a great game. I played as SL (quite horribly might I add) on MEC, and we defended the main base, eventually moving up and being across the bridge, and finally on the front lines. I had a helluva fun time running around in the armor, and Kin3 was a great gunner in both the turret and on stationary defense.

I loved the Kirkland battle last night I was on Lago squad as milkserip and it was a bloody battle. At one point I saw 1 squad on the west side of the map running trough and taking flags. I can only assume that most of the USMC were spawning in the Warehouse. That was the bloodiest battle I have ever saw... I Loved it.

Re: Wed nite pw - Karkand

I probably took advantage of early spawning there. I was hoping to see some resistance. But after I spawned I took an APC and rushed all the to the MEC main base, and encountered one lock on myself and one engineer laying mines. We could ve shut them out but weird things happened and we lost. Anyway good games.

One the side note even passworded night does not seem like they keep out some troublesome players. I had to quit SL ing coz some of my members were getting on my nerves.

I blew it as CO of the USMC. We had the MEC down to 1 flag and still could not finish the deal. With no ticket bleed, it just comes down to kills. Once the MEC took back the east side, they were unstoppable.

BTW, freeze time is stuck at 15 seconds until an update comes out for the admin tool. Sorry.

this is the problem. most our team was spawning in one area, which became completely surrounded by MEC. it was a worthless waste of tickets, there's no point in trying to fight that much resistance.

i eventually just gave up on our orders, spawned back the east, took the northwest flag on my own (zero resistance, they were all across the river), and headed for the now-MEC bridge.

i always seem to end up on the losing team, and it's because the higher-ups insist on throwing people right into the ****, which doesn't do anything but burn tickets. when half the MEC points are undefended, and we're not doing anything about it, there's a problem.

I was one of the very first MEC in on the map, and I spawned at the NW flag. I was waiting for the rest of my group to spawn when I sawan APC go flying by. I started to give chase, but by the time I got over to the main base, it had already been captured.

Which congressman do I write to have the admin tools updated so that we can fix the freeze time?

By the way, I encourage our fast-loading regulars to do what I do in the face of this problem. Since I'm usually one of the first in, I tend to spawn and just sit at a point until my entire squad spawns before moving out. Also, if that happens really fast, I have my guys sit for a bit until more people are in. Capturing a bunch of flags is great, but it's not very fun or fair to do it when the other team only has 2 people playing.

Well, since you are talking about me, I will respond.. I inherited the CO position of a game that already saw the USMC team covering most of the map, thanks to the lack of freeze time. We had the east MEC flag, a couple of other flags on the east side, and all of the west. Wanting to put the MEC out of their misery and move on to the next map, I tried to crush the final flag. Obviously, that didn't work, and a large problem was that I lost an entire squad (due to the PB glitch) that was covering a critical area guarding the west side, allowing the MEC outbreak.

If you play under my command more, you'd see that I do not believe in wasting tickets, but in this case I was trying to do something else that just did not work out.

Once you step into the CO position, you will open yourself to criticism from every angle.. I can't wait until you have that perspective.

Re: Wed nite pw - Karkand

I apologize for that. But you guys won. I won't use my combination of SL and early spawn again.

But I will rush with an APC once everybody is spawned.

I was leading a squad of snipers just for fun. Although infantry were no problem, we couldn't stop a single jeep from crossing the bridge and taking our back flags.

Re: Wed nite pw - Karkand

I played the medic class in this game and I can tell you that this was the hardest match to keep up with. I layed more med packs than I have ever layed before. I was ranked #4 on our side by the end of the game and I think the three listed above me were medics also. This was a true bloodbath, but then again, what I love about this map is that it is so unpredictable at times. I was in Beatnik's squad and we were amazed at how the game turned around the way it did.

I think Tempus did a good job, even with the difficulties he had with squads disappearing and all. Tempus, you had your hands full for sure. A good job goes to Beatnik, who kept his cool in the thick of it.

Re: Wed nite pw - Karkand

I was in this game early and on the MEC side. I saw the MEC base was already taken, I knew that had to be Beatnik :-)

What is the freeze time you all are talking about?

I wasn't in this one long and BOOM PB booted me :-(
