Sat pw game - Gulf of Oman
Great game all on Sat nite's Gulf of Oman. I think the final score was 7-0, and the USMC team earned every single point that game, because we weren't giving up a thing the whole map. My squad (Arf, PolishBoogieman, Doggz, Perry and Jaymind) tried to hold down the hotel and the east beach most of the game, and it was a struggle the whole time. Between assaults on the hotel and snipers from the east hills, that was some of the more active defense I've played in a while.
And Rafe did a great job as CO - you would've never known it was his first time. He's a natural. Don't think he reads the forums but he did a great job and should step up more in the future.

Re: Sat pw game - Gulf of Oman
Hehe, yea, I think I spent like 90% of the round at the hotel. Wasn't until the very end, last 50 points or so, that I ventured down to the beach. We seemed content with holding the hotel but those pesky snipers made us move on down to the beach and open another "front."
The oilfields were fun too.. We managed to hang on to those two flags for most of the round, right until the very end when we ventured off to the center flag. |

Re: Sat pw game - Gulf of Oman
Well, I have to say that my USMC team did an excellent job. We held most of the beach for the whole game. Despite some great air superiority by the MEC, we still managed to pull it off.
Squads 3 and 5 were notably accomplished at fulfilling their tasks. Hats off to them!

Bah! I say! That's right! And Humbug too! [edit] And only 3 teamkills from my jet that map. I had about a 30-40 teamwork score. ![]() Oh, and Digital did an awesome job keeping those US jets off me, why'd he have to go and get autobalanced the next map? ;P

![]() I was on the MEC side for that game, mainly down the western side. Things started well as we set up a good attack on west beach. I won't single out names on my squad as they were all superb, and they know who they are We capped the flag, and then put in some good defensive work whilst we did our very best keeping the arty down for as long as possible. Some good defensive runs by the USMC to drive us off there. The only quirk is that the supply crates that were being dropped to get them back up was allowing me some quite cheap ammo refills. The guns went up, and by the time they had just started to fire I was ready to blow them. Which was good, as Tempus is frikkin dangerous with it!However we got a tank and an attack helo more than we could deal with (things started going badly for us as soon as that helo turned up), and after being forced back to the construction point we switched objectives and set up an attack on north west. It was very nerve-wrenching as we held tight. We were trailing a little bit throughout the game, and then had made a massive leap to catch up. We sat tight, using a couple APC's to munch shots off at some sneaky guys on the warehoue roof. In a weird way it was actually quite exciting to sit defending, just hoping and hoping that your boys across the park could sneak the win. It was not quite to be, but man.. oh man what a game! And as for Rafe... I agree that he is a natural. One of the best CO's I've ever had. Listened to his squads, worked with them, gave sensible orders and realised the value of defence. As an example in Dalian plant I was at the west construction point. Squad 6 was defending it, and our squad (4, always 4??!!) was tasked with moving down on the warehouse. It became pretty obvious quite quickly that for one squad this was a suicide mission. We were losing more than we were gaining, so I asked my squad to hold up, and signalled to Rafe telling him that this was a suicide mission. He asked if I wanted another squad to attack it, and I replied negative, it'd be suicide for any single squad. He asked me what I wanted to do, and I said as it was still a hot area we'd like to defend the point halfway across (there's lots of good cover here), and ambush anything moving on squad 6. He was happy with that, we started to do better, and when the right time came we were in position to move on the warehouse, which we took with a couple of other squads, and then was tasked with defending. This negotiation/communication may not sound amazing, but it this kinda thing was not an isolated incident, it happened all throughout both Dalian and Oman. As stated above, you would never have known it was this guy's first time.

Re: Sat pw game - Gulf of Oman
The MEC artillery strikes and bombing runs were devastating my squad (#3). Even when we were spread out and under cover they were finding us. Several times we attempted to exit a flag in an APC and not once did we make it out. (I hate bombers!)
Note: I'm not sure, but it appears that there is a bug with the ticket bleed. Intro screen says you need half of the CPs, yet USMC didn't start ticket bleed until they had 5 (of 7). Weird. |

Re: Sat pw game - Gulf of Oman
I started out on the Mec side getting thrown into being the SL in the B squad, I kind of inherited it (squad 1). I really felt like I left my squad down many of times. I just keep getting wasted over and over again we would all group up move in together then I would die right away and I would spawn a mile away again. I just couldn't seem to stay alive long enough to substain an attack on a flag. Then the game crashed, joined back up and ended up on the USMC side, so I really left them down. Sorry.

lago was awesome on the bombing runs...i remember one run he unloaded over a mix of USMC/MEC and took out a least a squad worth of guys and not one TK (even more amazing considering the dummy bombs and the speed we were going). digital did provide excellent air cover and getting those F35's off our six. great game guys!

Re: Sat pw game - Gulf of Oman
Yeah Wulfyn I was the SL for squad 6 on that map at Dalian Plant, and I agree with that situation as well. Having that kind of adaptation in your overall strategy (pushing us up to defend an aggressive line near the warehouse, then moving in when it became a target of opportunity) really made the game for us.

Re: Sat pw game - Gulf of Oman
I was on MEC Bravo sqaud and tried many attempts to get the swimming pool flag, we had a tank and an APC but so did they and their apc was covered in that corner wall and the trees and was very hard to hit. Was a good game

Yesterday Gulf of Oman was one of a kind. I remember defending a base (i can't recall the name of the base, it was the southeastern base on the corner, but you know what i mean) and i was MEC. The USMC decided to use human wave tactic against us and at first, I was using my grenade launcher picking some guys off. But then i looked out and saw a whole bunch of marines running toward us and I was stunned. I said, " OMG OMG OMG, they really wanted this base back". So I changed to the RPK-74 and started mowing them down. It felt so good, I never thought that the machinegun could be this effective. In the end, we lost to a mere 7 points but a great match nonetheless. Good job to everyone!
This is the only server that have ever make me feel I'm in an actual war and i love it! Thanks everyone.

Re: Sat pw game - Gulf of Oman
I was on last night for the first time in a real battle. Being new to the game I had the best time of my life. I have to give kudo's to Ironclaw, Cream of Santa Mosdi TG Smart 242 and TG Strav. This was the first squad that I played on and learned alot. I gave up alot of blood to Santa when he was on the other side last night. Good job to all giving me the time and being patient with a newbie. Thanks, looking foward to more....
