Thumbs up Xink's squad, Karkand, 9th August (MEC victory!)

What a blast we had, salutes to everyone involved!

This was actually the first time I witnessed a MEC victory on this map on a TG server firsthand, and what a way to lose virginity! We managed to break the east vs west status quo by capturing the 2 southmost flags and it all went downhill for USMC from them. Great job everyone who was there, especially the squads defending the ramps leading to the bridge flag in those hellish last 10 minutes of the game. BF2 crashed on map rotation so I couldn't holler at the squad over VOIP - great leading Xink and great job squaddies.

Mad fun!

Yes, well done MEC. We suffered greatly from not having a commander for the first half of that map. I have a picture in my head of proper strategy for playing that map, and a MEC victory should be very unlikely.

I have actually seen the game play out like that several times, with people running all about and flags changing hands constantly. The close ones always settle into a fight over the water though.

The guy who did step in as commander mid way did his best, and apologized at the end for our loss, but it really wasn't his fault. He did a good job for a new CO thrown into the battle.

Hint for future USMC commanders: take over the east side immediately from the start and don't look back...

Re: Xink's squad, Karkand, 9th August (MEC victory!)

it was a good game, karkand is often quite stale with a bitter battle raging across river for the most part of the game, with this status its ussually a mec loss and it took a good commander to step up and send us across that water to assult the usmc back flags, once these where secure we had to spreadout and cover asmuch ground as possible and slowley fell back on our captured flags as the us forces pusshed to the water, my squad played extreemly well with some great ambushes on enemy armours and good squad level communication, you guys played great with props to the commander too, he knew what he was doing and kept enough guys back to the east to secure our victory

bravo!

Yeah, I think the best MEC strat I've seen for that map is to basically not worry too much about any of the flags on the West side of the river except for that one in the very NW corner. If you can keep that one and the points on the east side MEC victories seem much more likely. That map is usually pretty fun though win or lose.
