Operation Clean Sweep (Wed)
Whoever was attacking the MECs airstrip on that game I would like to say well done. There were some ingenious tactics that the attacking squads were using.
On one attack the USMC attacked with two Blackhawks at the same time. The first blackhawk flew over the airstrip and diverted my whole squads attention to it. Meanwhile a second BH covertly landed behind a hill to the North-West of the runway. It was pure luck that I managed to see the sneaky enemy squad all stealthily moving in to attack.
Another attack that stood out for me was when we were being attacked from the south very aggressivley and somehow an AT squad managed to sneak round the east ridge overlooking the airstrip. We thought we had the attacking squad pinned down on that ridge but then all of a sudden the AT squad flanked us from the north. They darted accross the runway and destroyed our tank and then took the new tank that respawned.
Our defense squad was trying to repel this attack when the game was cut short because the server was being to be passworded (that a word?).
The MEC squad still had at least a 100 point lead over the USMC towards the end but I was still very impressed with the way the USMC fought.
Who was the squad leader and squad members of the blackhawk attack and AT squad? I will be looking out for you in the future.
Tarpans squad (the squad I was in) did an excellent job defending against these clever attacks and managed to hold on to the airfield the entire game.
TG rocks.

Yea, I saw most of these attacks slightly ahead of time, even pointing out the empty Seahawk and such. There was only so much that I could do with 1 squad going against 3-4 though. Good fight by all involved.

Yeah I was very impressed with the way that you could predect the attacks and the way you set up the defenses was one of the main reasons we were able to defend so well.
Covered all approaches of attack but also very flexable. Very nice.

Re: Operation Clean Sweep (Wed)
Ya, that was my squad sweeping around the north ridge with a bunch of AT guys. It was in fact an exact reversal of another Clean Sweep game where Tarpan had a squad on the ridge and I was defending the airstrip in B's squad.
We would have had that base if not for someone well hidden taking me out on a previous attack.
All-in-all though, that whole game was brutal on the USMC. The MEC side had the air completely dominated, and my team was crushed over and over while trying to make our way across the water to our objectives. That stuff is painful. I seem to remember checking numbers somewhere in the middle and seeing that I was 3-18.

Re: Operation Clean Sweep (Wed)
I guess this is the one where the server went down before the end of the match (Well, I got a server connection lost error anyway). That was a fun round. MEC usually has a lot more problems on that map but we did pretty good I'd say. I actually had a pretty good round at 28-17 so of course the server had to go down. If I had one of my usual rounds and played poorly I'm sure this would have never happened... I blame myself.

Re: Operation Clean Sweep (Wed)
Definitely the best experience I have had on that map playing as MEC. Following Tarpan you can always learn some new strategies (is he dreaming them up in the night?). The various attacks by the USMC were quite clever, sure had us running around trying to repel. I thought we did a pretty good job on defence, I would have liked to have kept that tank alive a bit better but those damn F18 guided bombs tucked under the shelter are brutal. I just don’t know how you fly boys are able to do that.
Tarpan you called it quits after the password went up? I was looking to continue.

I took a break to eat, stare at the ceiling, and watch Over There. I came back a few hours later.

Was that you Tarpan that parked a jeep behind the hangers and gave us hell with the 50? If so I was the sucker blackhawk that flew over the strip.

Both H-60s. How different can they be?

Re: Operation Clean Sweep (Wed)
i've always seen the seahawk variants that the coast guard uses. they often have large cowlings over their engine intakes, but in retrospect they are very similar. i guess the blackhawk is just a military grade seahawk.
i do know that the seahawk is the ONLY helicopter that can do a flip in the air|TG-Irr|Legato

Re: Operation Clean Sweep (Wed)
Whatever he means by flip, it's definitely not true. There are several HIGHLY maneuverable choppers in the army that can do whatever he's calling flip.
The Blackhawk is what the army calls it's H-60's. The Seahawk is Navy/Coast Guard's name. I think the air force probably uses the H-60, but I dunno what they call it, if anything. AFAIK, the marines don't have that helo.
In all cases, it's an H-60. Same chopper, slight variations. The letters on the left side of the core "H-60" indicate those variations. The letters on the right indicate the model "series" (later versions).
But they're all H-60s, as opposed to, say, the Cobra, which is an H-1. The "A" as in "AH-1" stands for Attack, it's secondary "mission." (Primary mission being "helo." I know it sounds weird, but that's it's "mission.")"You live and learn. Or you don't live long."
