I heard you used the Jets squad extremely effective, and that's a great boon to your ground pounders as a CO.

    Pros:
    1. We did win a bunch.
    2. Informative
    3. Effective use of Air force
    4. Liked the way you spotted the threats for me.

    Cons:
    1. Too much chatter. It was hard to communicate with my squad. I thought your finger did not even move from V key the whole time. After 3 maps under your command I got used to it though. The downside is SL s could not hear what squaddies were saying... That is all...

slugslinger, you are a very good commander indeed. It's been some time our team served under you therefore I cannot remember the details but I remember you did an excellent job coordinating the squads and setting objectives.

    I agree with others, would you consider to work on communication a little bit by;
    a) using B key instead of V for specific orders
    b) using a bit more formal radio language (just for immersion factor)

You did a good job commanding last night on Daqing Oilfields, we lost but no fault of yours. I dont mind the chatter, I like to know what other squads are doing around me. Ill be glad to see your name up their anytime.

    Re: how was my COing

I thought you did a great job. The cursing was pretty comical. I kept wishing my team could hear you because I couldn't quite relay the messages in the same tone.

slug: "Squad 5, I need you to get in there and $*#$*# those $^&#* #(@($ers! They are @#$%&^ us all over the map"

icky: "Ok guys, the CO wants us to attack the SW as soon as we can clear this area. Get ready to move out."

A few points you could improve:
    - The chatter was over the top. You don't need to tell each squad that they are doing well every 5 seconds. If nothing has changed, let them go to it. If you see a new threat, just give them the direction.
    - If you want to praise a squad for a job well done (and this is to all CO's), use the in-game "Commend" button, so that the whole squad sees it. As SL, I pass on praise when it comes in, but it isn't the same.
    - When you see a squad getting in trouble at a flag they are defending, feel free to drop arty ANYWHERE you feel is the best spot. You can then re-inforce their onscreen indication by telling them to get the $#*&*#@ out of the arty hit location. If you aren't sure, drop it right on the flag itself, because that's where the attackers are going. Don't worry about hitting your own guys. The players here are generally good enough that they won't ignore the incoming arty indication. As SL, I always remind my squad of the arty as well.
    - As with above, when a squad asks for arty on their position, they probably don't mean right on their SL. You did this to me last night when I was hiding behind a building. By "my position", I meant "on the flag I am defending". Check your scan and let rip. I managed to escape, but the arty didn't hit anyone at all.

All in all, it was fun. We failed in our bid to come back on Daqing, but we weren't a strong team. Before you jumped in as CO, we were bleeding tickets non-stop and we got down by 150 tickets. Afterward, we pulled within about 90. (obligatory kudos to my squad for holding 2 flags for almost the whole game)

    Re: how was my COing

Slug - soliciting candid feedback is great. Playing with you I've been on many a winning team. You know how to use each squad effectively and you are very responsive to SL input. Overall, you're a very good CO.

The one area I'd target to improve is the communication. Focusing more on what SLs need to hear and giving us less 'non-critical' chatter will improve squads' effectiveness quite a bit. As a SL I talk a lot to my squad, and my squad members talk a lot. And it is hard to hear SMs talk/requests over the CO who is talking a lot.

I'd define 'critical' chatter as squad objectives and (possibly) the reasoning behind them (e.g. 'go defend that back base because a squad is moving in'), situational updates, recognition of good work, etc. I'd define 'non-critical' as 'squad 2 you're getting &@$ked right now'. I personally don't mind cursing as I curse like a sailor in real life, but I try to limit it in game because it can get out of hand quickly and start to negatively affect squad performance.

Like I said overall you're a great CO and you know how to use the CO's capabilities very well. If communication is the only significant area of improvement, you're doing quite a bit right!

Yep, I know it well. I always use this to request supplies, but when I am requesting artillery, I am rarely able to use the crosshairs method because of the risk of death associated with it.

I am talking about times when we are in trouble on D and I am cowering in a corner. I call out to the CO for arty on my position, but I am expecting him to use his own judgement to choose the exact placement. That said, I would rather have it right on my head than not at all, so if there is a reason why the CO isn't sure, then it really should be arty on me.

    Yessir.

    Lemme add my own.
Keep it down, homey, we're all trying to have conversations with our squads here.
You're gonna have to work real hard to kick this, but pls do it, because all your other COing work is sweet.

Good job on the air force. Since you're doing pretty good with it, I'll bring ya to the next level. Do things like this:

    1. Don't say a word
    2. Set an attack marker for the jet squad.
    3. Now say, "Target" and then, "Helo" or "Vehicle" or "Infantry"
    4. Expect the jet squad to tell you the ETA for strike if they're able to comply. If not, expect them to tell you the can't do it.
    5. Say "Roger" (That's it. One word)

    Re: how was my COing

Sorry to kinda hijack this thread, but I was COing right after slugslinger last night, and was wondering if anyone had any feedback, as this was my first time COing on TG.

    Re: how was my COing

I had the rare occasion of being a squad leader when you were Commanding. You were pretty good, supported us a lot when we were defending the middle beach flag in Dalian Plant. I agree with everyone here about to much chatter, but i have experienced worse, but anyways, i think you're a good commander and should continue to do what you do.

I think EA should of incorate a way that the CO can choose to talk to only 1 Squad if he wanted to without the rest of the squads having to listen in.

You can talk to individual squads but I cant find the post it is in. Do a search, it was within the last day or two.

Press number keys 1 through to 9 to select squads 1,2,3,etc.
Once a squad is selected, press "B" to talk to only that squad.
While selecting squads, hold down control to select more than one squad.
    E.g.
To select squads 1,4 and 7, hold control and press 1, 4 and 7.
To talk to all squads, press V.

    Hope that helps.

Cool, well if all CO's do that, then i think the chatter will decrease signifincantly, i guess most just press B and Blab away.
