Sunday Aug 28 Oman

Time: Early evening approx 4:00 - 5:00pm EST
Place: TG Server #1
Map: Oman
Team: MEC

Normally I don't talk about Christmas this time of year...It's something us Canadian's wait for winter before discussing. But you know good ole Saint Nick came calling in Aug on his magical sled. Here we are, a commander less squad trying to hold a lowly east beach base all we want is to keep the USMC arty from raining down death. Is that too much to ask? Oh how they try to capture our base, first with a beach assult..REPELLED. What's this... APC incoming...REPELLED...Tanks from the west, infantry from the north..turned back, fast attack jeeps..not this time we are dug in and good. Next comes the air assualt, strafed and strafed over and over by the attack chopper...still we hang on...and the arty stays down. Blackhawk inbound..."man the 50 cal I shout man the AA" REPELLED. No time to rest. Oh my, what's this parachutes out of nowhere...first one explosion...I go flying...I scream is that arty back up...NO still down...Boom another explosion...what the hell...where did that come from...C4 OH my IT'S SANTA C4...I tremble in fear. SANTA is dropping high explosive presents from the sky...sneaky sneaky Santa..DIRTY even!. We can't see him or his reindeer oh so high santa is. It's not even funny...it's too effective to be funny he's killing us 2-3 at a time. Finally a parachute opens..what's this Santa's coming down in person...I'm thinking to myself oh crap oh crap...he's going land right in this base and kill me and there is nothing I can do. Wait no I have a gun I can stop him..I know I'll shoot him out of the sky...yeah that's it.. unload full clip...miss reload come on reload quick...miss again damn he's almost on the ground...crap I know I'll switch to nades and blow his big bearded ass..bang too late...head shot...MEDIC MEDIC. The moral of the story, I Should have poisoned the milk and cookies.

What a battle...MEC held on to win the round and they never didn't get the arty up for more than a minute or 2.

Props to those in my beach defence squad. It was memorable to say the least.

You know, it is hot here in Phoenix and Santa has his summer home on the other side of town here. I am sure that a couple of us Elves can sneak over and terminate his cable connection so that he does not deliver anymore X-MAS presents from the air.

I was in that game for MEC in Faultline's squad, figthing for the Hotel, Construction site and Village Fort flags. We didn't receive arty once- truly amazing and a real pleasure to move around without being shelled- Nicely done Trigger and squad.

And props to all those MEC SL's who coordinated so well and going the entire map without a commander.

Re: Sunday Aug 28 Oman

Yeah Kedge thanks..I was saying to the squad this is the first time I have ever played Oman and not had the crap shelled outta me. Arty is huge on Oman..add the bombing aircraft and forget it. It was one of the Squad members that suggested we try and hold that base for the whole game...forget who it was but all of the guys were into it. Turned out the be one of the best games I have played and for sure the best I have had as SL.

Re: Sunday Aug 28 Oman

Oh yeah Dragon Valley was fun too. Gregory was having a hoot shooting down the choppers and jets...first time I have ever had both AA stations manned at the same time...It works really good because choppers can usually take 2 hits but no more, so once the flares are dropped 2 AA stations firing at the same time is deadly.

I think it was PhoenixxFire and NattyIced in the chopper. They got us a bunch of times no doubt but we got our licks in too. He flew in for one attack straight on..popped 3 or 4 rockets on the left station then 2 or 3 on the right getting both of us on one pass..awesome for sure.

Re: Sunday Aug 28 Oman

Haha that C4 tactic of mine was so funny. Every time i spawned i tried to get all 5 C4 packs spread out on the ground, usually gettin at least 2 guys. Unfortunatly ive never been in a squad that was HALO jumping and had it actually work. Any squad that knows what theyre doing can hold it off because the attacks are sporadic and rarely do you land with a squadmate. Your also disoriented when ya land and the enemy will be all over you. The only way to actually capture the flag is to be rambo, and then get lucky.

and bubba, you best watch yo self

Heheh It's highly unsettleing to get blown up right out of the blue. I was saying to myself how the hell did some guy sneak C4 in here. Just then I see it falling from the sky...too much. Wonder if nades would have made it to the ground before going off.

Re: Sunday Aug 28 Oman

I was on the receiving end of many artillery barages from MEC. Man, you guys had us humping all over the map the entire game. Even though I felt like I was getting my butt handed to me (I was!) I had a good time. How often can you say you lost and had a good time? TG is definitely spoiling me with the squad tactics. I need to learn to fly because we sure could have needed it last night.
