Mashtuur City 8/29

This is kind of split off of another thread which covered some 8/29 matches but was locked due to a different discussion.

I don't know how our squad managed to pull that off. It was close a few times, and the overlooking hillside was swarming with bad guys. Later, they came through the grassy area behind the flag. Afterward, they sent jeep expeditions through the city streets.

All the credit has to go to my squad members, who somehow managed to hold back the tide. I had some really talented people working hard on that map. I remember Bodofooko was a Support and was killing very large numbers of enemy, TNC (I think) was a medic and always managed to keep me alive, Banana Juice was also there manning some 50 cals effectively along with someone else. Variable and Jusb were other good squad members I recall, we may have had others whose names I can't remember at the moment.

They were gracious putting up with my quiet mic and occasional n00b-ishness; I got BF2 last Tuesday and hadn't done the Squad Leader role before. I have a new respect for SL's now though, there is so much stuff to keep track of in addition to trying not to get yourself killed. Even with a good squad like mine doing all of the work I found it pretty exhausting.

And Bommando rained a lot of artillery on top of us...

Yeah. I was part of Brennus' squad, and we were the "bad guys" swarming the overlooking hillside. We tried to take that flag from every direction (even jumping down from said hillside), but just couldn't get in there long enough to flip it. You guys did a helluva job defending it.

Re: Mashtuur City 8/29

mashtuur was crazy from the US's standpoint. during part of the battle we were at our arty flag and had contacts spotted north of it. i swear me and one other were out on foot and literally were engaging the remnants (what darkviper's blackhawk left behind) in a small group of buildings in the middle of nowhere... i mean, this must be a flag for a reduced version but i crested that hill and in front of me was a place i had never seen before!

You did an awesome job squad leading against overwhelming numbers, especcialy for it being your first time. I kept trying to support yall to the utmost of my ability due to the size of the attacks, giving you UAV and arty constnatly. Oh and if you dont start squad leading yourself, keep joining my squads, your a damn good team player

That's the funny thing! Because I don't recall any other squads backing us up on that flag! Bommando assigned squad 5 (Me) and later squad 6, to take the flag, but I don't remember any *other* squads joining in...

I'm probably wrong, but that's how I remember it...

unless i was going blind, at one point yall had a squad on the hill, a squad to the immediate north, and as soon as yall were killed off a squad came in under the bridge. memories startin to get fuzzy on that round though by now.

Thank you Bommando! I knew I wasn't crazy!

It's nice to know that my squad was "overwhelming" though! *blushes*

That was all me! In the hills, in the streets, under the bridge! In fact, Bommando called out *3* contacts sitting on top of one of the silos to the east of the SW flag on my way to the bridge! I look up, and there they were, right on top of me! They never knew what hit 'em!

Very memorable...

I agree, I've had James315 in my squad before, he's a great teamplayer and would have him in my squad anytime.
