How schlamoly! I just came off a short, 2-round tour as commander. My hats off to all TG folks. You people are unbelievable fun to game with.
I was a squaddie on a couple of maps, first on the opposing force, but then the server dropped me half way through Clean Sweep and I was re-assigned to the USMC on reconnect. USMC had pretty much wrapped up the level anyway, but I signed on as CO to play out the last few minutes. Anyways, at the conclusion of Clean Sweep, we started a game of Songhua Stalemate. Thanks to my highly capable and responsive squads, we were able to dominate the map for the majority of the game, bringing in an almost 200 point lead by zero time. At some points, the Chinese made valiant and daring moves to break our momentum. A couple of times, they came over the map in a transport, I assume, and captured the fish factory. Once, I was holed up in the fish factory when we lost the CP and then I heard the shuffling of feet next to me, though no friendlies were showing on the map. I switched off my command screen just in time to be defibrilitated to death. If that was you, post your name here for a bit of credit. I'm pretty sure it was someone from TG-7th, but not positive. At any rate, Songhua worked out real well, so I thought I'd stay for another round. Next map: Dalian Plant. I started by laying out the battle plan for the squads, which was a very plain vanilla "assault and hold the shores, then we'll take it from there". Well, by the time we were able to capture and hold the South Docks, the Chinese controlled the rest of the map. Now, we had it laid on thick and heavy for the entire game. We were fighting with everything we had, but we couldn't do anything more than change from barely holding one CP to barely holding another CP. Then, in a mixed blessing of sorts, the server crashed. On rejoin, the map had been restarted (much to Thez's chagrin, and he was posting to let everyone know it) and I knew we had a chance to turn the gong show around. We made a slightly better showing of it in the beginning, but the map quickly devolved into the same scenario revisited. Ultimately, we spent too much time just trying to secure our own commander assets and couldn't bring enough support to bear on the beachfronts. If you were in this battle, I'd be much obliged if you could post your name and role (Sqaud Leader or Squad Member). As TG has ribbons to give, and Officers wanting to give them, I'm devoting some attention each battle as to who is performing admirably around me. Once I've accumulated some experience with alot of you, I'll start sending nominations up the line. SLs, give some thought to nominating your squaddies for the exceptional work that they did during that battle. Lastly, I'm really interested to hear from the Chinese commander on his perspective on that battle. I wanna know who the devil I was fighting. Also, I'm going to be posting some thoughts on the strategy and tactics of Dalian in the appropriate forum. For a more detailed discussion, I encourage you to switch over and check it out. Dice.

Re: Sept 5, 1200 - 1630 MST, BF2 #1
I was in there.
I was squad leader of squad 4. Or "Bret, WOW". The most intense thing about the songhua map was the beginning. Two squads had the same idea of load up into blackhawks and helo over the chinese back base during the first minute of the map. Well we both dropped into one of the most intense firefights you could imagine. It's like the chinese knew we were coming and had all waited in the back. You did well commanding diceman. I like commanders that pay attention and use the mic. The only thing I didn't care for was all of the "status updates" you were asking for over comm were interfering with my ability to hear my squad mates, but it wasn't that big of a deal and your helpful artillery made up for it. My squad was doing a superb job and tysn deserves some kind of medal. The guy followed my orders exactly and is an excellent FPS player, he was racking up the kills. I also was doing amazingly well according to the scoreboard, when I left something like 40 kills and 6 deaths. But that was more due to the fact that I had medics hovering around me to keep their spawn point alive. all in all a good match, i'll be back in later tonight, cya. |

I swear you were saving your arty just for me on Songhua, Dice. Must have nailed my squad 10 times at least. All the fun was at the Chinese base, some fantastic battles on the hills.
Dalian was weird. The CO wasn't using VOIP and didn't use assets or give any orders for the first 15 minutes of the game. I guess he was new at it. Still, the Chinese got their act together and quickly secured most of the flags. I had to leave after the crash, so who won replay? |

![]() Glad you took it with a smile. It was all in fun. Nothing like getting the life shocked right out of you ![]() Nice job commanding too. I hopped in during the middle of the round and I don't think we (chinese team) ever got a stronghold on anything we took. We'd take something and then lose it right back.
