dragon 9/13

So I start my team in the North as usual with a few ATs. Take out a few fully loaded boats, but we're under conisistent pressure by the Attack Choppers it's hard to make sure nothing gets past. Finally, Santa takes CO and tells my sqaud that the North US base is free. I send myself and another to go down and take the flag and set up a defense.

Funnest moments of playing happened next. I tell him to set his APC inbetween the buildings to avoid bombers and TV missles and I set my .50 cal in a beautiful postition to avoid Choppers and bombers. We destory the CO's scanner and UAV and finally he sends over the two attack choppers to destory the measly two defenders here. Ongoing with this, Santa has my sqaud take the NorthWest flag back from the US so my sqaud is spread pretty thin defending 3 Northern bases. When the Attack Choppers first came in, they took me out with a nice bullet to the head asap. The APC scared them away and I manuever into a better position and start shooting. The attack choppers COULD NOT TOUCH ME. It was hilarious. I had atleast 7 attack chopper kills during that small part of the match because they kept coming and couldn't hit me. It was to the point where they'd hover right in front of me at a slow pace just to try and hit me, but was killed by the fastness of the .50 cal.

Finally, the Bommando's LEARN TG squad shows up. I think just the two of us held back them AND the attack choppers for one wave, but we were getting overrunned. So I send two more of my sqaud members down here to help us out. We hold them back for a decent while but are finally overcomed and retreat back to where a RoflCopter is in the North East corner (both North and Northwest bases were overran by more then what my small 1 man defense sqauds could handle). Anyway, we continally face off with Bommando's sqaud and get that North flag back and held it for most of the rest of the game. I think Bommando and another BlackHawk sqaud switched places and we ended up with an amphibious assault against a tank and an APC near the end of the match with about 3 sqaud members while the other 3 were holding the north.

Was an extremely fun match and great matchup against Bommando's and the other BlackHawk sqaud (which we destoryed with a parachute once ).

EDIT: Bah! Just remembered the APC/2 man tag team with me was Ragner. Props to him! =P

Thanks for taking out my fully loaded boat at the beginning of the game, didn't even see it coming. That was where that map started going down hill, I couldn't get anything going our way on that map, then Santa took over as CO. My squad probably died at least 40 times under his arty attacks. Not a good night for me as SL, every time I had a plan it never worked because we would all just die on our way to the objective. We had fun but it was frustrating getting killed over and over again, sorry squad.

Re: dragon 9/13

Dragon Valley is quickly becoming one of my favorite maps. I was on Deverans squad last night and the battles along the road which climbs up to the hilltop flag and down to the most northerly base were great. Infantry, armor and choppers fighting within spitting distance of each other. At one stage I was left with nothing but my pistol with three or four enemy infantry run through the trees around me. Parachuting into those trees was a lot of fun too, talk about confusion! Didn't someone take out a blackhawk with a parachute at one stage?

That was fun, but messy. Having the squad split between 3 flags was problematic. I think at one point we had two people on the hill, cpl as a medic and me with a SAW. We weren't going to do much good when the offense hit, but we did provide a distraction for those helos. It was a confusing fight, though. Had no idea what the rest of the map looked like - for an hour my entire life was that hill.

Re: dragon 9/13

I knew deveran was a good SL and i needed yall to split to that third flag to stop ticket bleed. It worked, because by the time yall lost the flag we got enough bases down south. You guys alone probably attracted most of the resistance the entire game, allowing everyone else to have an easier time capping flags. Squad 3 was led by someone i had never seen before (bizarro 2000 or something?) and he did really well. First flag he took was immediatly north west of our main and he took it against probably 2 squads. Then he and team 2 took the base just north of that against 1-2 squads again. I think when they got that northern base was when the game was decided, because from then on we had near constant ticket bleed.

It's one of my least favorite because there are too damn many flags! 11 of them! It's pretty darn hard to setup a defense at a flag because when you do, another 2 flags will be lost. It always feels like wack-a-mole to me.

My squad was USMC squad 4, and it was our blackhawk that got blown up by a parachute. We were keeping it airborn to help with the infantry on the hillside, and using the armor at the docks to pick up any stragglers. We got pretty spread out at times.

The round started with us taking an APC down south to the flag with the helipad and having a chopper suicide in to us right as we got within the capture radius. Then we flew down and got the flag with no resistance. Sausage went across the water and got that flag by himself. I moved up north by myself -- left the rest of the squad at the helipad -- to get that southern flag on the center island, then the rest of the squad joined me.. I think Sausage got overrun at his flag, and we moved up to the northern flag on that island, then to the flag northwest of the island, then up to the docks, then we stayed between the hilltop flag and the dock flag... Yea, wack-a-mole would describe it.

Ticket bleed just means I'm miserable for less time.

I dig Dragon for a lot of the reasons you don't. You have to pick and choose which flags you want to hold, and which one's you don't. It's even better with bleed as you don't have to run out and grab ALL the flags to have bleed. Find out which flags are defensible, which one's have vehicles worth having and own them. You don't need to own ALL the flags, just the ones worth having.

I also like the fact that if you try hard enough, you have global reach from about half of the flags. Tons of room to operate even though most treat it like a push map. If you like flanking individual squads, there is almost nothing better than flanking an army from north to south or south to north.
