Mashtuur City, 9/14
I was on the MEC side, aka the winning side of this map. Erich was our CO, and Sassy was the opposing CO.
Congrats to my squad on its Best Squad award. After we moved away from that fenced-in flag and were ordered somewhere other than against Santa's squad, we did very well. We kept the ticket bleed up most of the round. Arf was mauling a lot of our enemies (sniper/APC, i believe), Corridon was on tank, NCman was on medic and handling .50 cals, iamthefallen was taking out some nice targets with his Eryx (including one jackpot Blackhawk). I believe BusterCharlie was also in our squad this round, nice overall defense. |

If we weren't called away from the MEC main (with the UAV) we never would've given that up. I was bummed that we got moved south, defending the enemy main base is always a blast You guys did good, USMC lost by like 200+ tickets. |

You guys presented a formidable defense all along that wall and road leading to it. But I have to confess that my orders were only to keep the enemy pressed in that area rather than to try to actually take the point. I thought we were pretty convicing though, pushing forward in armor and then falling back when it looked like we were sacrificing more tickets than warranted. Presumably the commander (Erich) felt it would be cheaper in tickets to keep such a strong defense occupied (you guys couldn't support your fellow squads on other flags) rather than to try and take it out, which probably would be impossible anyway. Meanwhile, your team bled tickets. I noticed that as a SL I felt that whenever our own team was bleeding tickets I felt like I should be moving out more aggressively to get One More Flag™ even though I realized that the area under my responsibility needed only to be defended and the flags really in dispute were being fought for by other squads elsewhere on the map. |

Re: Mashtuur City, 9/14
awww, thanks for the positive reinforcement, fellas!
Mashtuur was a good time [had by most...but apparently not all]. Even though there isn't much armo[u]r on this map, it plays a critical role in warding off transport helis and breaking up enemy assaults. PLUS there's the added bonus of not being blown out of your ride every couple of minutes by bombs and rockets from the heavens. i too enjoyed the standoff with Xink...we were originally ordered to take their flag (i think it's called BACKYARD??) but my squad agreed unanimously that they were too well dug in. we just held our position west of the southern bridge and i fired tank rounds between the columns where i thought troops might be huddled, randomly killing Robocop, Bubba and others. i remember thinking "i sure could use someone to spot where my rounds are landing", some sort of Forward Observer... i think that's something we can develop on the urban maps with armor...hiding a sniper near the position we are about to attack. he/she [really...she?] can help zero-in the tank gunner and soften up the target quite significantly before moving in. also, the ASSAULT guys with SUPPORT resupplying could be used in the same way...almost like mortar teams. and who says we need to attack that position immediately? kill a few guys from a distance and they'll respawn on the flag and prepare for an "imminent" assault. that will guarantee fewer baddies at your REAL objective... honestly, though, thanks for the complements, guys... too bad i was only on the next map (Zatar) for about 5-10 minutes before being displaced by a SM...dang. had to leave for work anyway, i suppose... |

Re: Mashtuur City, 9/14
I have to say, seing Iamthefallen [eryx] Bommando+4 in a BH followed by Iamthefallen [eryx] Santa+4 in a Humvee a minute later might just have been the pinnacle of my BF2 experience. I think I'll stop playing now.
![]() Mashtuur was a very good map for our squad yeah. It seemed like there was always ammo and health around a few seconds before I needed it. Excellent job by our medics and support guys. |
