Hey guys,

I just wanted to say sorry to the folks on MEC for the rough game last night on Oman. I don't know what compels me to choose the CO position under the worst circumstances possible, but I went and did it again. My exact thought process was:
- ew, Oman won't be fun at all with 21 vs 21
- uhoh, they have a CO and we don't
- I am NOT commanding Oman again! I learned my lesson last time, and I haven't commanded at all in the last few weeks.
- well someone's gotta step up and get the arty firing at least
- man I'm tired, maybe I'll jump in a fire the arty a bit, then go to bed

Thus began a campaign which appeared to go from good to bad moments after I jumped in the CO chair. We had the USMC pinned badly into 2 flags and my SL's were telling me we should just hold since bleed was on. I agreed and ordered the squads to fall back to defensive positions. Well the falling back continued over and over, and when I tried to sneak squads in behind the attack to take the undefended flags, they got crushed every time. My jets squad did a great job of taking out armor, but it didn't seem to help.

I think the USMC attack chopper was the main problem. I kept seeing the squads disappear into thin air as they moved out of the construction site.

Anyway, I pledge never to CO again on that map in that state of mind.

No worries, Icky. At some point the battle just took a turn. I'm not sure how things were going in the map center, but those of us on the beach were getting hosed by the Blackhawk just enough to distract us from actual infantry defense. We just kept pushing, then falling back to defend, then falling back again to respawn. It was good fun for a while.

Oh, and I want to apologize to the two squaddies I accidentally TK'd with the APC in the first 30 seconds of the match. I must've been twitchy or something. Or possibly drunk.
