I took on squading for the MEC on Mashtur. Was a great map for us. Ultra kept the tank positioned well, the other guys seemed very well positioned without any need for me to direct. I spent most of my time getting myself into positions that provided a good view of approaching enemy's and a good alternative spawn. If I recall we held the USMC to their last flag for the majority of the map.

Sharqi was a challenge. I believe we lost by ~100 tickets. Again my squad performed brilliantly, but it took us too long to even the flags and inflict bleed. Kudos to the USMC on this one.

It was a great night, I really liked the AAS mod, especially with the in-house mods to it.

SM Only nite - Sharqi, Mashtuur, Karkand

Helluva nite on the SM server. I think we had at least 12 on 12 for all 3 Stag-and-Icky-improved maps (up to 30 players at one point, I think), which made for some heated ground assaults. Ending Karkand, that was the most stressed I've been after a game...in a good way. Seems like everyone's got the hang of the AAS mod now, and that's resulting in extremely focused exchanges at CPs.

Sharqi was fun (as expected) even though the USMC almost got wiped off the map. The big battle for the South CP by the water was a highlight for me.

Mashtuur was over too quickly, but was fun while it lasted.

USMC couldn't get that west flag on Karkand until the end of the game. That's definitely a tough assault to make with no element of surprise, charging uphill. Strag and I were coordinating his squad and my fireteam on our assault over Teamspeak, and we still got hammered. Great work defense on holding that for so long, and good work Icky and Fireteam B for holding our flag the entire game.

Overall a very fun SM nite. Now I think I'll have a beer or three to, uh, relax from playing video games.

Have to admit, one of the best nights yet. The mods Strag and Icky were great. Good job guys.

That was my first time playing the AAS mod. Was fun, although frustrating. I had a few too many beers before I joined and I'm fairly certain that contributed to my inability to properly play. With the limited players we had on the server, the AAS mod was fun. Above 32 and I'm sure it would have just been a mess.

I enjoyed it though, new ways to play a game can always be interesting.

Re: SM Only nite - Sharqi, Mashtuur, Karkand

Great games, all! Yeah, I'm pretty wired myself -- I'm thinking about cracking open a beer as well, just to cool down.

Although Karkand wasn't a close round, it was a helluva battle. Great job to all, and especially to the folks in my squad and Beatnik's squad on USMC. Coordinating that assault on the Suburb flag was difficult, but it finally worked. If there had been a crowd watching, they would have been cheering when we finally capped it.

After enduring that battle, I think the USMC should have an APC to use as a break-through vehicle on Karkand. Otherwise, they're just not gonna be able to advance without losing too many tickets to stay in the game. An APC would probably add just the right amount of balance -- added firepower for the USMC, and the sacrifice of a couple of anti-infantry kits on MEC in favor of a couple of anti-armor kits.

I actually thought Operation Clean Sweep was a fairly enjoyable map with AAS. With a few tweaks, it could turn out to be a real treat.

Santa, you were right about that Karkand overhead map illustrating the AAS capture routes -- it's wrong. I'll make an update and get it posted.

Overall, the modded maps proved to be very infantry-focused, and therefore very intense. It was nice to be able to coordinate some squad tactics without getting hammered constantly by air and arty, and it was also nice not to have too much armor. With only a few armored vehicles, their value increases quite a bit; it becomes much more important to keep them up and running during the fighting.

A huge thanks again to icky for making the mods and administrating the Private Server tonight, as well as to Tempus and Apo for putting up with constant harassment to get things set up. Also, huge thanks to the 7th for being a great group and for "beta testing" the mods on Sunday night. Finally, huge thanks to everyone for showing up and playing. I hope it was enjoyable for all, and it'd be nice to continue with another batch of map mods for next week if everyone is up for it.

Re: SM Only nite - Sharqi, Mashtuur, Karkand

Man, I saw a lot of oddities tonight, others commented it as well. Way too many one shot kills with things like L85's and M16's. Someone shot me in the leg and killed me, one shot. I was at full health. Strange stuff....seemed like the guns were spot on or way off all night, it was pretty erratic. Maybe it was due to lag, I know I had some "connection problems" a handful of times.

However, that was some fun stuff. Pretty funny when I came flying up on the bridge in a jeep only to meet ABRA head on in his jeep. Neither of us lived on that one

Who was it that stole my lone ammo pack on Karkand? I wanted to be angry but that was just too funny. I wasted my last noob tuber on Icky and noticed he was support. There was no one else around so I swapped kits with him and dropped an ammo pack. I switched back to my kit and out of nowhere one of my teammates runs by and swipes the ammo pack, then Icky's kit disappeared. Damn you, that sucked! Thief!

Need a tissue? I would like to thank Blankman and Jaymind for being so kind to just lay there and let me knife them.

Did anyone notice whether server 1 benefited from more pubs due to the fact that everyone was on private?
I checked the numbers on Server 1 a couple of times, and it didn't seem to ever be full.

Re: SM Only nite - Sharqi, Mashtuur, Karkand

In sharqi i think the mec would have benefited from the squad leaders (me and i think shiner) being in a TS channel. That would have made attacking that central CP so much easier. All that had to happen would be for one squad to get in position to suppress the flag while the second squad got behind the wall and stole the flag. Too bad we couldnt talk to eachother about it though

Karkand i agree would be balanced with an APC. Northwest is hard enough to get, especcialy when you have no surprise and you have to go up against 2 squads going uphill. Regardless, it was really fun sniping everybody, especcialy you support guys that like the prone position too much

operation cleansweep was a hell of a lot of fun, i was surprised. I was attacking the southern CP from the MEC main and found myself next to a damaged house hiding behind a rock, with stupidawesome as support near me. It was coincidence that we were together because we were in seperate squads, but it worked beautifully. He would cover one side of the rock, killing anything close. I would peak out and snipe anything mid to long distance. Check the battlerecorder and watch either me or stupid to see how effective a sniper/support combo can be. Im actually thinkin about doing a 2 man locked squad like that and see how well it can support a friendly squad in attacking.

Oh, and my knife kills were plentiful

It works really well, and is just about ideal for these small SM-only night games.

Oh, great. I saw how your score was well over 100 on Clean Sweep with you playing as a frickin Sniper. As if all the knife kills weren't bad enough, now this!

Great, I'm not insane I watched the BR file and I saw what happened. jepzilla was running at me as I dropped the ammo pack, and apparently I dropped it too close to myself and it reloaded Icky's support kit. jep was right there so I figured he got the pack. I reloaded a "dead" kit

You know you all want Sherlock Holmes on your squad

    Meanwhile on server 1

Server#1 today (I missed the action on the private server. I thought it was a 7th invitation only): I was on #1 only for one full game with the Dalian map. We started on a 3/4 full server with no commander. I had a musical chair squad with everyone leaving trying not to be SL. Finally Sassy took over as commander and I got 5 top guys in the squad as the SL. I only remember Gunrack [where is that autoposter that automatically posts each round on the After Action Report Forum??].
We took the southern and middle peninsula flags, split up in two and held the two flags with some cliffhanger moments. In the end we did some nice turkey shooting getting almost every helicopter coming in from the carrier with our 3 jeeps and AA rockets.
Thanks to Sassy and a great squad we came back from 200 tickets in the hole and won!

Nice work on the mods icky and Strag. I couldn't stick around for CleanSweep but the other maps had some really good battles. Mashtuur was over too quickly though.
We should make sure squad leaders on the same team are in the same TS channel for both sides so we can coordinate better.
