Wake + Sharqi + Dalian, 10/9 - 10/10

Tickets on Wake made it look closer than it was to an outside observer. USMC won around 150 - 0, even though the Chinese were down to just one flag a lot of the time. I hopped in a jet about halfway through the map because lag (poor network performance along the line to TG's servers) was getting to me and I couldn't hit crap on the ground.. I was able to rubberband through the air and get a few kills. I realized it probably sucked for the PLA (even though we didn't have the F-18's up in the air, and usually just one person in the chopper), so I slowed down and flew around at like 550 most of the time.. Heh, those SAM sites shot me down a few times at my low speed. Even got shot down by a tank once It seemed like no one was trying to take the flag, so Santa and I both attempted landings at the north base towards the end of the map.. unfortunately both of us crashed

On to Sharqi... We need a new server modification that keeps Cymba and Bodofooko from being in the same chopper. It's just not fair!

theoriginalblankman in first for USMC with 97 points, Cymba with more than double. I was in 2nd with 65 points, Bodofooko 2nd for MEC with more than double. That round hurt! Like 489-0 after we were wiped out in just over 30 minutes.

Then Dalian.. us in Beatnik's squad were just repelled over and over.. The chopper would take half of us out and in our weakened state the infantry would have no problem mopping us up. I think the score on that one was like 400+ - 0?

I think I'll be walking funny for the next couple days after those two rounds.

Re: Wake + Sharqi + Dalian, 10/9 - 10/10

I was playing medic on Sharqi and to be fair I would have never achieved 97 points if it wasn't for the skilled chopper duo killing absolutely everyone around me. At one point at the northern cp I swear there must have been atleast 14 dead teamates surrounding me.

Another thing to note was that the round had 30 minutes left on it, if the us didn't get wiped out Cymba and Bodofooko would of achieved a score we could not possibly imagine.

On Dalian I was flying jets and was doing impeccebly ****ty. At one point diceman ordered me to attack the northeastern cp and cut out right before he mentioned the attack helo. So my smart brain wen't over there and bombed perry and other members of beatniks squad who were trying to take the flag. Right as I let them drop I saw the helo to the east and beatniks squad on the flag, realizing my stupidity I concordantly yelled various expletives to myself while watching the teamkills build up.

Re: Wake + Sharqi + Dalian, 10/9 - 10/10

I had a good time on those three levels and Karkand beyond.

I entered Wake midway as part of Bane's squad. The beach flag was already the US's at that time, we swung down and captured the South flag before squeezing back on the beach flag. The airfield was next to fall, but the Chineese came back and captured all of the flags except for the Airfield. We pushed the Chineese back off the south penninsula. At this point, we had jets, 2 tanks and slowly pushed them down the north penninsula to that north west flag. The chineese were dogged defenders though and denied access from the bridge side as well as from the south side of the flag.

The US went from being the Hammer on Wake, to the Anvil on Sharqi and we were pounded by the MEC. I joined the Christmas squad run by Santa and we started off guarding the Alleyway. A lone Vodnik attempted to drive through the beach road and was picked off by Santa as was a second one. We watched flags fall around us, first the Entranceway, the Hotel, TV station, Construction site and the Surveillance Post. At this point, we moved from defense to offense and tried to retake the TV station. We were grossly undermanned as the MEC tossed everything possible at us, Sniper shot, Anti Tank shells, Tanks and Choppers. We never even made it to the TV station. Props to the defending squad.

Dalian, Alapo and myself tried choppering around the map with little success. I need a lot more practice flying and there is no way I can hang with TG flying. After Alapo called it quits for the night, I found my way into Beatnik's squad. I had much more success on the ground (I could kill stuff on the ground) but we could not get a push for long periods. The chineese were using every vehicle to the utmost (2 attack choppers constantly, bombing runs, a convoy of APC's, countless infantry.)

Karkand, Beatnik left and I ran the squad for a period. The MEC was extremely successful bringing up their armor constantly to the front. There were times when they pinned us on the left hand side of the map between buildings just due to having multiple APC's. We discovered that we weren't using our APC's at all and began rolling them back helping to conquer the Square, the Bridge and the Suburbs. We never could fully push the MEC off the west side of the map so we took a humvee to the east side of the map and captured the MEC main. Being able to knife the commander all but made up for the 8 different times he artilleried our squad. We were unable to capture the MEC vehicles though for any period and I feel that would have dramatically helped us win. We did have success capturing the Gatehouse a couple times, but were not able to keep back their troops.

Win or Lose, I had a great series of games!

Great games, I couldnt stick around for Karkand but I agree they were very competitive and that made them fun.

When I was SL my squad was perfect, organized, communicating, and aggressive.

Yeah those few maps last night were painful. There's nothing like the rhythm of 'Spawn-die-Spawn-die-Spawn-Run-die-(get healed)-die' to break your spirit. That went on for two solid hours.

I want a shoulder mounted stinger. Bad.

Sorry, we were just doing what we were told. I kinda felt guilty for a second there on Sharqi, it really wasn't fair. But then I remembered getting pounded on the one flag we had on Wake, and I didn't feel bad anymore.

I can't remember feeling so "pounded' as on those rounds. As you described it, Beatnik, it was simply painful. I also inherited a squad as leader for some of those rounds and it seemed like every order I gave ended with my guys being wiped out. They all maintained great attitudes and fought bravely, and I'm grateful they didn't commence to calling me nasty names....at least over comms.

Re: Wake + Sharqi + Dalian, 10/9 - 10/10

Haha, I just took a closer look at the scoreboard.. I forget who all was on the squad, but I had 31 deaths, Jep had 29, Beatnik had 28. Probably 25 of my deaths were from the chopper or chopper related -- like running around with my paddles out trying to revive people and getting killed. USMC have 10 people there with 20 or more deaths.. MEC have 1. Ouch. Watching Cymba's score climb during my 10 minutes of death time was tragically funny

I did shoot em down a time or two with the Stinger at the start of the round.. I think that just made em madder because as soon as I got a lock after that they'd head straight for me.. fire a canon shot somewhere within my general vicinity and I'd go boom.

Re: Wake + Sharqi + Dalian, 10/9 - 10/10

I was suprised about Sharqi last nite. It looked like the teams were balanced when the map started. I guess the chopper crew really made a difference.

I kept running into your squad, Perry. Usually if I killed you, then Jep would be the next kill or vice versa. The best time I had killing you was when Tau and I were on a rooftop between the construction site and the TV station. Your squad was headed south on the street under us. I proceed to drop grenades and your team scattered into the guard house. I shot down one member, paused, then started dropping grenades again. The medics ran out just as the grenades landed in the area. I finished by gunning down the rest of the squad and no one ever looked up. Good stuff!

Best part I remember was on Wake. I was in Squad 8 (can't remember SL ) and I spawned on SL ontop of a pillbox. Next thing I knew there was a big explosion and a dead medic next to me. I grabbed his kit and revived him. I know this has been done before but at the time it was so surreal.

Yeah no worries. We were actually joking about that in my squad. You guys had gotten severely beaten down on Wake (imagine that - opfor getting brutalized on Wake), and we knew that everyone who stuck around had the blood lust.

To the USMC credit, though, we did stay out of the jets for most of the Wake round, making for a much better battle. Someone suggested that we just drop the air entirely from Wake, and I wholeheartedly agree. It would make the map SO much better (i.e. more balanced) to make it a ground battle.

In wake before china had only one base, i was on the ground in phelans squad. I was at the north east near the bridge that connects to the north village. Some very intense firefights at that hill. The jungle like terrain makes for some really great firefights.

I was in that squad with you. That was one of the best times I have had playing! Extremely intense. They gave as good as they got. The medics in that area were doing a bang up job.
