Karkand @ Passworded Night

All I can say is Karkand was completely badass. Close game but MEC managed to hold off the invading infidels. We were backed up onto the island but managed to hold together and even keep blowing up the APCs and Tanks that kept coming in (I managed to get two at once ) Anyhow, great game

Re: Karkand @ Passworded Night

I was in Santa's squad on the USMC side and that was one heck of a fight. Santa did a great job staying alive on the East side of the river every time we would cross.

Oh man, that was one of my better games. You guys were always spotting everything so i knew exactly where to go to not die and where to go to try to get behind the enemy. On our first attempt across the river we got to the northern most building. The enemy squad, for reasons beyond me, followed us as i kept pushing southest. With them still following we got right on the flag and took it from em.

Oman was also pretty fun, and i had yet another awesome squad full of talkative tgers. We held the far east US base for a lot of the map, until they sent about 2 tanks and 3 apcs at us. I literally had to tell everyone to go AT but it was just too much. We went on to have an aggressive defense at the flag just west of where we were. We lost it once but absolutly raped the enemy squad that got it within about 2 minutes.

Great games tonight, i was blessed with awesome squads.

Re: Karkand @ Passworded Night

Have to say that I had a blast tonight on the passworded server. I played on the MEC side under a couple of squads, and took over one squad when the leader had to go after coming under fire from the girl friend. Props to my squad on Oman, we started off small but went on to be one of the higher scoring on the MEC team. We held the ony MEC flag on the front lines for some time before it was just too much fire from both sides, and we had to back off for a bit.

Re: Karkand @ Passworded Night

Earlier on Sat nite, I had fun trying to snipe on Mashtuur, but the pounding we took on Dalian was hard to stomach. We were pretty demoralized by the end of that map, which I think ended up around 290-0. By the time Karkand loaded, I wanted blood.

After capping the NW suburb flag, my squad was on a mission to get the MEC main base. We turned it blue a couple times, using mostly armored columns and strategic camping near the flag when we got there, but never held it for long. We had a few of those eerie moments of having about 20 red dots all over the UAV, all converging on us.

I must admit that at one point I was surprised to see our commander sitting in my APC as we moved across the All-MEC river, and then charging the MEC main base with us. With his mic off. But I think we actually flipped the flag on that attempt...

It seems like the last half dozen or so times I've played Karkand they've all been really great struggles. And none of them 'typical Karkand' games, either. Good times.

Re: Karkand @ Passworded Night

I had a blast last night, I even stayed for more games than I intended. I had an excellent group of guys all night so it was pretty hard to sign off Karkand was great, definitely not the usual river stalemate. Had fun going back and forth the to hotel and point just north of that. I had 2 medics (one was Bom) and those guys statwhored us to like 738 points. First time I've been in a ground pounder squad that did that. I even got to fly an attack helo on Dalian for a bit. Sorry to my squad for not being more attentive at that point. I think Santa and Bom were busy in tanks anyway while James sniped people. Gassy is deadly in that gunners position!

Re: Karkand @ Passworded Night

I was about 15 minutes into the first map, on JMJ's squad I believe, just starting to settle in and BOOM, power goes out.

It's really weird to go from full on BF2 battle to complete darkness, wind and rain howling outside (we had a major rainstorm blowing through at the time). I swear my ears were still ringing from the artillery strikes!

Sorry to my squadmates for the early exit.

Glad this thread came back, I had missed it.

I was the other medic in the squad. Am I so bad that I'm invisible?! I think Bom was losing his mind that night because of the lag. I will present my case below (from memory).

He kept complaining that
a) he was dying constantly
b) he wasn't killing anyone
c) nobody was reviving him

Well the stats told a different story...

a) Bom had about 27 deaths, while I had 30 deaths
b) Bom had about 32 kills, while I had 15! kills
c) I revived Bom at least 10 times

I'm not calling him a liar or anything. It's just a matter of perspective.

He also complained that
d) He was teamkilling people all of the time (car 'running over' people)

The stats tended to support that complaint. He also TK'd by proxy when he told me to detonate the C4 on the flag he was watching, but the enemy hadn't reached it yet and my detonation killed the sole remaining defender.

But BOM's biggest complaint was the attack chopper on Sharqi completely wiping us out. That was the funniest moment of the entire night: Bommando lets forth some profanity and then immediately, dutifully apologizes. The squad gave him the appropriate razzin'.
