Medal of Honor to the Roughnecks
I had the best time tonite leading my squad the Roughnecks. We played Mashtuur, Dragon Valley, and Oman together before the password kicked in. On each map we took top squad for the USMC.
If this was real life, they would have earned the medal for their performance on Dragon Valley. At the start of the map, we spawned at the Docks and went straight for the Refinery. After taking it with almost no resistance, I decided that we would hold it for the rest of the game. For the next 55 minutes, we repelled every attack that was thrown at us. No matter how many sqauds, armor, jets, or chopters that moved against us, none prevailed. Even though we had the longest fight I have ever seen over a white flag, China never saw their flag fly over it again. I swore we killed every person on the Chinese side at least once. Even the commander said that we had to have broken their spirit after so many losses. The most amazing performance I have ever seen from a squad. That was rare form tonite.
Salute.

That was a hell of alot of fun. I loved playing with you guys. Especially on the action movie that was Dragon Valley. One time the flag stayed white for almost 3 and a half minutes, it was so heavily contested.
Good Job on squadleading, Bane, your leadership kept us so deeply rooted in there.

Re: Medal of Honor to the Roughnecks
Yes, that was one of the best times I've ever had on Dragon Valley.
Props to Bane for being such an excellent squad leader.
Highlights were Bane skulking around the back when the flag was white, and later, sweeping out enemies from that same place, proclaiming: "Get them out of my hiding place!". And for me, making trips out to the artillery as spec ops while shouting: "Running dry, need ammo", and Bane running out after me with ammo.
Great job to the rest of the squad as well; our team of ATs were bringing down armor left, right and center.
Getting to the refinery was awesome as well: B driving a buggy at top speed over the mountains to the west, while myself and another squaddie took a leisurely cruise down the river in a boat

Re: Medal of Honor to the Roughnecks
luus, you have an account here and you do post... 2 posts?
And I had a blast as well... After fighting over a white flag for 3 minutes shouting "watch west, people on the flag, need bodies on the flag, I am down, APC" we finally got our flag back... I had to say "wooohooo."

Fun, fun and more fun. But do not be selfish. Provide some fun and you will receive some fun.

Re: Medal of Honor to the Roughnecks
Ha! One time after seeing so many, many red dots converging on the Refinery flag, I said to pullout and regroup. However, yall had other ideas. B was flatout against it. So I decided we might as well go down fighting and charged into battle. After the smoke cleared, the Stars and Stripes was still flying. I felt invincible after that. Its always a good feeling when the squad takes a life of its own and starts believing in its own immortality. I actually started feeling sorry for anyone who challenged our ownership of that flag.

Someone spawned next to me but to the side of the dumpster. Crack! One dead body on the ground. Okay, time to leave before anyone else spawned. I took off back the way I came, dodging all the way to the towers. The rest of yall respawned, healed me, and we proceed to capture the flag. I'm sure Phelan was gnashing his teeth up on top of that smokestack. That was the closet we came to losing that base.
Also, props to our commander (I dont remember the name, we had two) who was very supportive. Gave us great arty and UAV support. Even promptly provided arty when I requested it a few times. He had so much confidence in us, he was actually stationed in our base instead of on the carrier!
Great battles and great teammates. This was what I joined TG for!

Yeah
I have had many great times with you guys on tacticalgamer, but I must admit that this game was something special.
Rushing their main, and holding it fore the whole round. I was teamwork at the highest level.
I was playing medic, and my shock paddles was hot the enntire round. Retrieving mates at eat and west. One of my highlights was at the flag pole with 6 dead corpses in front of me, retrieving each! A blast! And also when luuser and BaneII was taking down asserts and we had one artillery to blow up. One of them began firing and BaneII was shouting "this is meant for ous", and we were running like hell and got out of it.
We did not set up defense it all came naturally. Taking whatever came in.
Tnx for excellent squad leading by the outstanding BaneII. Tnx to the rest of you guys for a great teamwork. Tnx for a great game!

Re: Medal of Honor to the Roughnecks
Yeah B, I registered in July but I'm not much of a forum posting type... see my post in the "get to know you fellow tacticalgamers" thread.
percu: too bad I was the only one that got blown up by that artillery
And yes, it was truly a fantastic game. Thanks again to everyone who participated.

Yes, I remember Luuser getting hit by that arty shot after I warned everyone. That was a pure gut instinct that the arty was for us. Guess he didnt believe me.

Re: Medal of Honor to the Roughnecks
Best squad action in BF2, EVER!
Mashuur, Oman and Dragon valley.
I have to say the best two were Oman and DV, simply awesome, ive never had such convincing and satisfying firefights in any game!
We were attacking a MEC spawn from the south, the one bordering on the river. Our squad on the river bank, lots of enemy troops on the other side. We advanced in turns while others covered, friendly tanks moving in from the right, a medic running around reviving fallen comrades, enemy helo coming from the left.. We took the spawn, good times.
But the best moment.. well, round, must have been Dragon Valley.
I was spawning late so the other guys left without me in the Helo, which was full, so i waited to suicide when Bane exited the helo, and i did, for some reason he was swimming and the helicopter was gone, i can only guess as to what happened (maye they were in a jeep?)
We came from the spawn trough the woods behind the oil tanks, and took the flag meeting little resistance (one apc i believe). Everything was calm for a for a short while, bane ordered us to stay and defend. It had to happen, but i thought i'd be in for a rather boring game.. WRONG! Our squad was spread around the base, and another squad started reporting contacts left and right. I didnt think much of it, as im used to the typcal PUB game where everyone rambo's around. I did start getting nervous as all the report-ees dissapeared from the minimap and i heard some distant weapons fire, then all of a sudden our commander deployed the UAV above the base. HOLY.. a quarter of the minimap, RED. Team mates started to open fire on enemy's i didnt spot yet, people started dying, helicopters swooped in and strafed, APC's and Tanks racing down the road. It was madness i tells ya! Ive never seen something like that in any game, enemy's just swarmed en-masse across the fields into the base, they were everywhere! but we kept the flag, had some close calls, but we pulled trough, thanks to execlent teamwork and our commander keeping an eye on us.

Re: Medal of Honor to the Roughnecks
Good to see you finally made it over to this forum, Silent.

I am glad you enjoyed your stay with us. I didnt recognize your name so I didnt know what to expect from you. Sometimes new people dont fit in very well since they are used to a different playstyle. Actually, it was so busy, I really didnt know what you were doing that whole time. But whatever it was, it was effective!
Yup, we took a jeep to the base.

Not as much from the movie (which is not that good) or book (which is ok), but from the CGI animated series. The animated series takes the ST concept to a whole different level. Very well written storyline with lots of action. Go rent it if you havent seen it and make sure you watch it in order. But we more than lived up to that name.
