Putting up with me as SL!
Just wanted to say thanks to everyone who put up with me as SL over the last few days. Sometimes its a bit overwhelming. I'm starting to learn how much I don't know about these maps or the game itself, as I read the After Action reports, and see the actual strategy that everyone is talking about.
Usually I would start my own squad because all the others would be full and after awhile people would start joining my squad and all the sudden they are asking ME for direction....It kinda foces you to start thinking strategically, which is good. I think I was doing ok, until at one point I found a group of guys in my squad who really intimidated me. Can't remember who they were but they had a chopper pilot with no mic. I kept asking if they wanted to take over the squad and they said no, that I was SL. They kept asking me what their orders were, I'd call the commander and he'd give me new orders, but I didn't realize I had to pass those to the squad by going to the map and right clicking on the objective to attact/defend. I asked and they told me how to do that. They really did a great job and I could tell they we're pretty experienced at the game, at one point I asked the commander what our next objective was and he said "well hell, since you guys are so good I'm sending you here, its full of bad guys but should be no problem for you guys" (the squad I was leading seemed to take every objective within 5 minutes of being given the order!). Anyway that was the map with the cement factory I think, not sure the map names yet... At one point I felt so unworthy to lead these guys I left and rejoined the squad to make someone else commander, and 5 minutes later they we're asking me for directions again and I said "well, I resigned, I'm not commander anymore" they said "yeah you are, whats our orders" and I looked and they had somehow made me commander again! So thanks all for the support, even when I didn't deserve it. Another memorable time during the evening last night, I was in a squad and we we're getting raped by some MEC/Chinese? attack chopper everwhere we went. I'm not kidding, this pilot was 5 feet off the ground the WHOLE TIME, just killing everyone. So I finally got so pissed I started coming in as AT and decided I would just keep firing at the guy. We're at this flag, guarding it and I see a bad guy on a small grassy knoll and run up and take him out, then I think hey this is a good cover position and lay down just as I see the chopper coming back in doing his low level strafing thing. I take careful aim, shoot and guide the rocket, and like in slow motion the chopper's belly side shows itself just as my rocket reaches him, a perfect hit right in the middle of his belly and blam! he is wasted....man I was so happy I yelled "WAHOO!" into my mike and someone else behind me said "man I was right behind you and saw that, perfect shot!, Nice Job". Moments llike those make this game so awsome. So thanks all for putting up with my ignorance and low scores! |

You sound like a great SL in the making. I'm glad you had a great night that night.

Re: Putting up with me as SL!
you were doing a great job. Just a few suggestions:
1.) When I was in your squad you werent doing much talking. You need to be the one directing everyone and making it all come together. 2.) Try to stay alive as much as possible. A dead SL is as good as no SL. If you know they have spotted you try to sneak around and find a new spot. I dont know if you were doing that, but when i was in ur squad i noticed you could improve on those things
