Oman - Cleansweep - Karkand , Saturday night, 7th Jan AAR

Well, Rico really wanted one of us us to post a AAR, and since no one else posted the AAR I thought I would. This was one of the first times I have ever really SLed, but netting best USMC squad for both rounds was encouraging, though impossible without having the awesome squad members I had. Right after the server crashed I created Spartan Squad(Anyone who understands the significance of my name gets why I named it that), and the map first up was Oman. Please forgive me for not listing squad members, I just never seem to be able to remember names of squad members when I post AARs .

Oman: We got off to a good start, spawning at the village fortification and heading to the hotel, taking the objective with almost no problems. After that we headed out to the construction site and I decided to hold there to be able to defend and respond to any attacks on other flags if need be. By this time we has a commander, who I asked for orders. He then left his post, and I decided that it was a waste tokeep two APCs on defense and I ordered them off to attack the MEC flag that I can't remember the name of. its just a bit north and a ways west of the construction site.

Well, the air power took its heavy toll, and the squad members in armor just never could take the flag, try as they might. We then got a commander again and I asked for orders, and was then sent to the flag the armor in the squad had been attacking for a while. We all piled into two APCs and moved on the flag, one over the bridges and another across the water, deploying infantry around the flag and taking it.

For the rest of the round we just flag hopped, with the commander sending every squad on the team to one flag, with all the ones behind us falling. Spartan Squad did a great job though, kudos to you guys.

Cleansweep: We all spawned, of course, at the USMC UCB, getting into a boat and attempting a crossing. Six kills for some stick-jockey later, we spawned back and tryed taking two APCs, with the objective of taking the flag next to the "small airfield" flag, not sure what its named(Control center?). We instead got diverted to taking the north-most MEC flag, securing it and trying to move south, sending the armor across the bridge and to our first objective, while I took the low road to the flag across the shallow water. We took it without a fight, and spent the rest off the game assualting flags at the comander's order. It was a tough one with all the airpower, but We still got best USMC squad that round, awesome job guys!

Karkand:

By FAR the most fun of all three I led Spartan Squad for, we got Rico for a CO and he did a great job, very communicative. We started off by moving north to the square on foot, up the east path, going up the dise of the mainland. We moved , taking the flag with no opposition, and we than attacked the suburbs, got pinned down and marked(The worst thing that can happen to a assualting squad) got wiped out over a few minutes, and spawned back at the square. We than got instructions to move on train accident, and we moved fast and hard taking the flag no problem.

After meeting sporadic resistence, we moved across the bridge and attacked gatehouse, most of us getting killed with C4 on the flag, but I managed to live and kill the rouge spec ops. We than got a buttload(Note: buttload is a real unit of measure, invented by sailors, no joke) of hostiles heading at us, at least two full squads and a few tanks. We held our ground and than sneaked around behind the pipeline and behind a warehouse.

All of a sudden we got a squad right around the corner, waiting for us, and we engaged in a feirce firefight, with the entire squad dieing exept for a member who had spawned just as I died, who grabed my kit and revived me, saving the attack, but not for long. As soon as we took out the hostile squad we were attacked by a APC and got wiped out, leaving us to spawn at the train accident, charging across the bridge, like bugs to the zapper. We than spent the rest of the round trying as hard as we could to take the freakin' gatehouse, but we faced a wall of hostiles, and simply could not take the flag, even though we made it to the other side a few times. We got best squad on the USMC for the round.

I really want to congratulate my squad for their awesome performance, and Rico for being a great Co. You all made my first night really SLing very, very enjoyable. I will be happy to create a Spartan squad again, and look forward to having such an awesome CO and such great squad members.

Very nice job as SL Leonidas. I was with you but for a time after the server crash and you did great. You gave us enough info about where we were headed, and kept us disciplined on fire control in the enemy's backyard.

I really like the Cleansweep map. Once the US has a foothold somewhere on the penninsula the battles rage and the front lines change so much. What a contrast to Zatar where the lack of vehicles in the middle slows things down.

Karkand was a good round, though the meatgrinder at the end wasn't very effective. I think the two most common things I heard that round were "Boot, spawn as AT" and "I'm down".

Couple nights in a row now I've had SLs with medic kits. It is very helpful to have a revive kit literally on top of the SL's position. We kept our drives alive more than once that way, a good tip for extending action behind enemy lines.
