Zatar & Karkand, 13 Feb - first SL experience!
Thanks to Freeky, FishRoy, and the rest for participating in my mildly-successful first outing as squad leader!
I had never used the SL interface before, so I had no idea how to set waypoints or give orders, but Freeky was extremely helpful in talking me through the basics.
My AAR on myself:
Sustain:
-Good communication with the squad. We talked well and I think I kept the squad fairly informed about what was going on (which was easy on Zatar, since we were just defending).
-Good commo with the commander. I didn't even know there was a seperate channel for commander voice, but I tried to use it as much as possible once I found out about it.
-Shooting people. I was actually killing people with the M249! (Is it modded on the TG server? It sure seemed accurate.)
Improve:
-Giving orders. I just don't know the maps or kits well enough to decide on the fly what weapons a squad needs or what the best objectives are.
-Spotting. I did well calling out on voice that I was in contact, but when I'm getting shot at I have a hard time remembering to spot as well.
-Staying alive. I often forgot that I was the SL and people could spawn on me, so I'd do dumb things like run headfirst into exploding grenades and whatnot.
It was a great first experience, though, and I hope to do it again sometime!
