Thumbs up Monday Night - May 15

Played for a couple of hours tonight, and had a great time. Thanks to (sorry if I get your name wrong) E-male, Demoncaster, kernel_biggs, Grunt_70, and Jingo_inky on Gulf of Oman. The squad did a great job defending the hotel. Lots of communication... good positioning... very immersive.

Played Mashtuur with heyob, undead77, Mantis, Eggplant, and someone else... sorry, I didn't get your nic. Great game as well.

Thanks for a good evening guys. It's always nice to be part of a squad working together.

Re: Monday Night - May 15

The Mashtuur round saw an incredible comeback by USMC led by Santa. I think we were down almost 200 tickets at one point and came back to win the round 13-0. Nice job Kris Kringle and thanks to Chappie for stepping up and being our squad leader for another round. Very well done!

Re: Monday Night - May 15

That round rivaled the comeback against MA in the first scrim. As i said in teamspeak, my pits were sweating at the end. Some people on teamspeak thought i said "my tits are sweating". Its kind of depressing that people would actually think id say that. I mean, im not weird or anything.

I stepped up as CO when i think we were down by 30 or so, and it just went downhill further and further. We almost always had 3 flags, but that bled us to be about down by 200. Eventually i really felt like i got control of the battle and could do what i wanted, and we ended up pinning them at the hotel, their only flag. The bleed was VERY fast and we quickly closed the gap. The hill went down, and then somehow the backyard and mosque went neutral at the same time. I immediatly changed my pants. Squad 4 and 5 were on the ball and quickly recaptured both flags and we just finished the game out.

Also like to say that Chappie did an outstanding job squad leading. At one point i think i had him tasked with the mosque, but the powerplant was being overran. He took initiative without my saying so and redirected his squad over to the powerplant, and against an overwhelming force they were able to retain control of the power plant. Tempus also took great initiative the whole game, and for a large part of the game he was my go to guy that i could rely on. Beatnik was terrible, as usual. "Worst squad i have ever set eyes on".

Our squad held the flag the entire time, not sure what everyone else was doing though. Good games.

Yes, great fun till the 64 player chinese map tired me out. The 13-0 comeback was about the best I've seen. Salute to Tempus for keeping my squad going.

Hey, you may not have perspiring mammary glands, but you're still weird!!

I played the last half of Mashtuur as USMC and had a blast. Hey, if you can only play part of one round, make it a good one and that was the case.

Towards the end I was an engineer in a Humvee overlooking the Hill flag and was able to kill any MECs who tried to turn the flag. They blew up USMC arty so I had to decide between continuing to watch the flag or try and repair the arty. I decided to try and fix the artillery but was shot and killed and lost the flag. Damn, I'm useles...

I noticed lag was bad so if I was AT or engineer my CQC weapons were a bit of a hindrance, but otherwise a fantastic round...

Re: Monday Night - May 15

tons of fun for me.
Hooked up with wussypoo at Oman, we got the Hotel and waited it out. Got lucky and grabed a spawn tank that was 35 meters away.

Stayed with wussypoo at Mashtuur city. He is a good squad leader, does not say much, does not need to. but kept the squad alive while we were constanly being harrassed by the enemy at the Hill. I got some lucky flag defends in the Hummer. I had never played with Madd91 before, he was our medic and he got the job done in spads. i had 20 kills and 21 deaths. Finished mid way in the pack but without him it would have been much worse. I am a real agressive player so if a break even with Kill/deaths and finish mid pack in points i feel good. i normally do not fall off buildings but i did twice at that map. Madd91 got me up both times. One time i revived him, and the first thing he said us "i do not want to go support" walks over and grabs an enemies kit and i switched mine back to supply. another good line he had was, "Rick, you got to stop dieing" he finished second in team points, big suprise. Thanks Champ.

The next was Dragon Valley and i eventually hooked up with the |TG-33rd|experiment636 player (numbers are not right. This was the closes i felt to really being into the game and experiencing combat that BF2 has to offer. This cat brings it, then after that he finds some way to bring even more!!! We hopped over the Northern flag area and layed waste to the enemy. I did well here. I am real big into saving teamates so i got a medic kit somehow, took our SF kit off a body that could not be saved, was responsible for C4, then revived our medic making him the SF soilder. experiment always had us moving. The two Gunship were great support during the flag captures. Unfortantly my computer stopped the program and left the squad. The squad members were all darn good also. at one point before i left, the team had all the flags with only like 7 enemy left. I had never seen that before with so many players.

When i got back on it was at the Fushe Pass. i hooked up with WhiskeySix in the Chopper sqad. I had never been in his squad before. I got to tell you guys something, i took away some good memories. He is layed back. " Alright squad we are going jump this mountain here and attack East Mine Entrance" {we are in two jeeps} Biggy air was had by all. Later we had a caravan of jeeps and armor, and i kid you not he told us all to go over the mountain again (we were at mountain lookout) it was like when you are in a roller coaster and you see the people in front of you drop off and vanish. Just like that. super fun. We got the East Mine entrance. This sqad was super tight also. Seems like the server is really picking up!! ... o.k folks were is were i rap things up right, nope. At Upper Camp Six says alright lets get into two boats. Me and tysn get into one, the rest of the squad get in the other. He says we are going off the falls. I'm like goodnight, this place is a fun park to him. he said something about getting a picture, holy cow the man is on vacation. Our first ran suck hard cause Viper and Boots took out Six and his boat. Tysn and i apprached the fall, and i said to Tysn "uh lets wait for the squad first" Viper and Boots shot the boat up and wasted me. Tysn survied. Big suprise Six wants to do it again. Same as before. I see a jeep heading to the flag. Six, "Check your fire" Armor over bridge. Six, "Check your fire" "fire when we go over i want a picture. We are meters away and i decide to go with the shoulder rocket. Then the gun ship shows up right in front of us. it is like 30 meters away. without going into zoom mode i left click the mouse and blow the gunship up right when the boat is at the top of the water fall. The squad went nuts. I was proud to have pleased WhiskeySix. i do not think anybody got a picture of the event. Later Six found amusment with a Gunship and the rest of the squad members were dead weight so i eventually left the squad and started my own. the match was soon over.

Next was Stalemate. I led clawhammer and pjornex (misspelled) Again solid players. i stayed back as a spawn point most of the night and pulled out my note book and documented my squads kills as they attacked flags. (Medal Hungry) This was a lot of fun. |TG| 33rd Rip came in later. Cal21 also. the vets helped me out a lot. And their comments were precise and very relivent. One time we were attacking Chineese Base, way west and i drove. clawhammer was like, Rick you alright driving. I paused, then said " i have my bearings" and took off with claw and Rip, seconds later we are in the water. "i lost my bearings, i lost my bearings" We had a laugh. We were on foot from there. Good ol Cal21 was still up there, i said, Cal stay low, back up is five minutes out. We lauged again. clawhammer said that Central Front was closes and so we took that. I told our CO TG blood (i think) this, so it was cool. He was a good CO and i felt good to do great work for him. My best time of the map was when the squad attacked West perimeter. they moved in, like always i am slow to the fight, plus i had a tank. I got lucky and flanked the enemy from the south and cut them down while the squad took the flag. i was super proud of the sqad. For Good measure i was chanting "serenity now" for fun, cause clawhammer was with me sunday night when i upt and left the server like a chump. Sadly i still whin and whin about how sometimes (with shotgun) shoting someone( non armor) three times at close to moderate range will not give you a kill. This is the last thing i whin about in the game. I need to work on this. I really do want to paly the engineer kit i really do, but hey, if you can't get the drop on someone and shot them with the cross... opps i am whinning again, sorry chief.
P.S. heyob, i hate you, hate you, hate you. you owned me like no other on that map. kidding, i had some horrible luck with the shot gun. plus your very good.

Last came the Peninsula. some members left, i told the squad to just have fun and engage the enemy. I think everybody had fun. Seemed like the USMC (my team) had the advantage all match. clawhammer swithced teams. Seemed like silverwolf was new to the server, he did well. i got most Team work, and flag capture, and support, soemthing else to. The match was very laid back. I have a soft spot for teammates who are down. So i stuck close to Mantis and Sordavie squad sometimes and helped them out. The returned the favor so that was tight. you know everytime i revived those guys they had no amo at all. I guess i need to work on being a better support soilder. {mean while, judging from Mantis and Sordiavie's 100 plus scores, the Corp would have bit it quick and hard without them} My squad was good. Their kills were very diversifed. knifes, M24, SRAW. I stayed back a lot when the Corp had the Office Buildings and the T.V. station. with less than 20 enemy tickets left a freak thing happed. The enemy moved in on office buildings and t.v station at the same time. Mantis and Sordavie were defending t.v. i ran up and switched kits with Sordavie to revive him. guess what, no amo. we revived each other a couple of times and i screwed up by charging to the flag and getting wasted. I most likley lost the game with that move. After that we lost all of the flags. We had our sniper left and he feel off the side of construction. We had a good 100 tickets to 11 and lost in seconds. Still good fun. Best part was when i was laying down fire on the office buildings roof, and all of a sudden three enemy solders were all tossed like rag dolls. i checked out the scroller and saw that Sordavie had fraged the lot of them.

Next came Oman 16 player. after about 2 minutes it was me and |TG| blood ( i think). i tried typing to him "lets have a truce and race buggies around" but he did not type back. perry the admin told me to stop spaming. i tried one last time, and after that i left. Too bad, Calvin, amedic and me did this before at Wake Iland and had a blast.

Fun night. I am really lucky to have found Tactical Gamer.
Why do i enjoy Vanilla more than Mod here of late. Must be my kill/death ratio is more even during Vanillia than Mod. Maybe i like having more frags. or maybe i'm starting to get used to the fast pace of vanillia.
Cheers.

I said "sqd please so it will stop spamming" meaning that I wanted you to join a squad so the server would stop spamming messages telling you to join a squad. You & I know that it was 1v1, but the server doesn't care -- gotta be in a squad. The server had just given you 4 messages saying you weren't in a squad and were going to be kicked. Normally the server will kick people that don't join a squad within a minute of spawning, but that plugin has been broken for a couple weeks (should be fixed here shortly, gotta test a fix before we put it on the server). If the plugin had been working, you would have been kicked before I got to tell you to join a squad and before you could ask the other guy to buggy race

I was "watching" that Sharqi map in our little admin console and was shocked to see the score 150-11 one minute and 11-0 the next.

The OpFor team had a couple of commanders that would send every single squad after an objective.. That caused us to be pushed down to a single flag on Mashtuur and caused us to be capped out on Dragon Valley -- with all those damn flags, that's pretty tough. We literally had every single squad attacking the refinery on DV and not a sole on defense at that village flag. I think a squad may have been tasked with defense and didn't listen or the CO gave the defense order too late. Hopefully the CO's we had tonight will learn from their mistakes and can come up with plans that are a bit less daring in the future.

Re: Monday Night - May 15

Nice writeup rick. Was indeed a mostly fun night....glad you found a home here at TG. BTW on Fushe...Whiskey asked me if I could pick a flag to attack that would give him an excuse to ramp two boats over a ledge. I happily obliged. :lol

I just hope in the future we can make sure dragon valley 64 and fushe 64 are never played during the week again....especially back to back. Those two maps in succession really hurt the higher than normal monday population. On the weekend we can sustain those maps but the 32 versions are much better during the weekdays.

p.s. Got to give props to the Assets team on Oman. You guys probably won the game for your team....very persistant.

Re: Monday Night - May 15

great write up! yeah we made the most of that Fushe map... seems like it was around like 18 vs 18 on the 64 player version of the map, so there was a lot of flag hopping going on... figured we'd have a little fun along the way

you guys did a great job - of the 15 or so flags we captured during that marathon of a round, I think only one or two went down uncontested... we had some particularly great firefights at East and West Mine Entrances, along with the Bridge Camps....

GG!

Re: Monday Night - May 15

The whole evening was full of great games.

Oman was a great round, with the USMC able to pull off a win despite continuous bombardment from the MEC.

Then Mashtuur, with Santa doing a great job to pull victory from the jaws of defeat. Whoever was holding the hill and destroying the US arty, you guys were impossible to dislodge!

My last round of the night was Dragon Valley. No commanders on either team at the beginning, but then OPFOR got one and I had to step up for the US. It was great to have such responsive and competent squads, with everything operating like a well-oiled machine. TG truly is the best place to play!

Last night was a lot of fun. I lead the sniper squad for the MEC. Two guys that I need to mention were Delta and Aphex. I hope these guys become TG regulars. Both of them have some serious talent. I think we got some of the U.S. troops pretty frustrated last night. We stuck together for most of the night. That is why we had so much success. I would have never thought having snipers stick together would be so lethal...and fun.

I got to say you guys were great!! The most fun I've had in awhile playing vanilla. When you get a good squad of troops and they are all having their "A" game it makes me proud to be SL *sniff* <<tender moment>>. As a squad leader you feel like an invincible killing machine and all the credit goes to the squadies. I was thinking, "Dang ...OPFOR, is that all you got!??!" Those are the times it is good to be SL. Thanks all my squadies. Look me up anytime!

Again congrats SANTA for pulling a victory for us...damn close game there for awhile.

Me too, sorry to my squad at that point. But we were capping flags, being blown out of the sky, caping flags, being blown out of the sky...i think the map was just way to big for so few of us online at the time. Great having you Gas...you were on fire that night! Which given your combustible state....well, I don't know....

Re: Monday Night - May 15

Hey guys,

Last night was pretty cool...During the Mashtuur round I kept telling my squad that Santa was starting to get a bit cranky!! Down by 200 tickets does not make Santa jolly!! LOL, anyway, Congrats to Santa on a great comeback and especially to the guys in my squad!!! I really felt uncomfortable being squad leader at the beginning of the round and you all really did a great job...even when I started to lose it a bit!!!

BTW...as we were heading to Mosque to try and regain control I happened to be driving the APC...I'm not sure who it was in the squad...but someone said "powerplant" so instead of making the left to Mosque I went straight and drove us to the Powerplant....Thanks to whoever it was...Faultline I believe.

Great fun last night!!
