Discussion: Battlefield 2 / Battlefield 2 - After Action Reports - Tac Mod June 05 2006 - Good night.
Kudos to Duke for being C.O. at least twice.
Wake Iland.
I hooked
Wake Iland.
I hooked up 12thShafik at the Wake Iland in the closing minutes. Good warrior. We attacked the Airfield by doing a nice flanking move. Another squad helped out. from the opposite direction. the squad was very keen. Myself and another dude kept the flag neutral and while the rest of the squad supressed the enemy. I got a grenade launcher kill on a certain holiday figure that involves christians that helped clear the area. I started to put a banner up to annouce to world the accomplishment but the SL told me to defend the area. We held out there until the end. Chinese win, i think.
Oilfields. I know Duke was C.O. were. After some confusion I started a squad and we moved to the Old City. I sent everybody except Viper86 to Gas Station. We took that and defended both positions the majority of the map. Old City went down first and we were all at GAs. The squad did well. One time I requested Gunship support and the C.O. delevered in person!!!
The enemy booted us out of there a good force near the end.
Later, i made a mistake by not correcting my caravan when attacking old city. For some reason we all headed back at Gas station and were destroyed easy. I take the blame for that, i should have made the correction. Good round, the Chinese won.
The map with the CB flag on the ship.
I stepped up and took command on a map i had little knowledge of. We did well there. We had some insubordination. Question: What is worst about leaving a defended position? That's right, not telling your C.O. WE are all here to bring the noise, but at least request it so that the C.O. can make it happen with some kind of unit integrity.
The enemy was really agressive. We got our stuff together and did really well. Later in the Map we had another walk off of a flag. I was so blanking pissed. Besides those two hicups, the team was spot on. I put Drunkensoul in for a silver star for his 50cal work southwest of the hotel. SQuad 6 did good work at the Hotel. Ramrod was put in for a silver star. I know thay had some good fights. I know they suffured a lot of casualites but keep the heat of the central flag. Squad 5 did good support work and did a lot of sniping. Squad 4 was led by Jaymind from the 7th. I already have put in the paper work to get the squad to their choice of R.R. in the South Pacific. Good intel, sitreps, and tactical feedback, and good work overall. Chinese win. I think the timer ran out.
Dragon Valley. Hooked up with squad one led by RedBane from the 33rd.
Good fun overall, got some more practice with the shotgun and wrench. We had a nice helo attack on the Powerstation. I looked after the armor as best i could. I had a grenade laucher killon a light jeep. Good to know one round will get the job done on a light jeep.
no Commander here. I think the Chinese won.
Mister Burns map. Played with squad one, but did not like the way things were going.
I thought i could be more of an asset to the team as C.O. So i took command 1/4 into the battle.
We got our stuff together and literally just killed more than what they did.
Good Defense all a round. The enemy was a worthy foe. the team had some really good unit integrity here. I screwed up and maybe muted a mic cause it was x out, but when i clicked on it was open.
I finally relaized just how much the warriors on the ground can make the C.O. look good. The best part of the night was when squads one and two were defending Chinese BAse and the enemy was pouring in on them. I had squad four take a fire team and engae the middle flag. Man it barley worked. WE took the middle flag just as the enemy took the Chinese base. SQuad 4, the pet squad of the C.O. made things easy for me. The enemy was all like, " we just got took a fair amount of casualites, getting the Chinese Base flag, now the enimeis got the middle flag. SQuad 1 and 2 respawned on the middle flag. I never got to thank the team for the win cause the timer went out.
I hate to bring this up and put a sour note, But squad leaders, if given the order to attack, let the C.O. know your going to do a madd flank. Sorry for the micromanage, but Things need to be squared away on the Battlefield. NOte, this could be when i muted the MIC so i'll take the blame for that. Again i never got to thing the team cause the timer ended the match.
I put jmaker in for a bronze star with the assault on Chinese BAse. He flanked the enemy real smooth like, i spotted like three guys in front of him that were near the flag. He jumps in the Chooper and heads to the flag and then mounts the 50cal turnig the flag grey for a few seconds. Good hustle.
Thanks teamates for the coop.
P.S. thanks sever for not doing the Karkand map at 32 or 64 player level. What's the deal with not being able to flank the enemy from south of the dry bridge. Man the programers of this game really now how to almost make an awsome game. I hate that map no matter what side i'm one. Dont make no sence to me.

Man the Mister Burns map was fun. Santa and I took the power plant flag away from the Chinese like 3 times. Just the two of us. Well there wasnt a whole squad but at least we were given a challenge. It was tuff cause it seemed like everyone was defending. Santa good job. I am always at the end of your gun and now i finally expierenced being by your side
Funniest thing on the Mr. Burns map (Bocage) was Wussypoo circled all around me, I was in a tank and he was in a FAV. I hit that thing six or seven times with the main gun and he just kept going. It might have been the lack of sleep but I had a good laugh seing that damn FAV absorb round after round. All the other buggies blew up just fine but that thing's made from whatever the Terminator is constructed of, on Bocage anyway...
Bocage was simultaneously frustrating and funny. Santa and Visser cleaned up pretty nicely at the Power Station flag, and were probably the most effective members of our whole team as far as completing their objective.
Good job to my squad members throughout the evening, some of them being TCaltrop, thundeer, Diceman, Santa, Visser, Bodofooko, Rocket Punch, and IRS.
I had a good time commanding several of the rounds in the beginning of the night, first for USMC then OpFor. The highlight was commanding China on Wake. We lost the airfield earlier in the round and I wanted to take it back. I had one squad distract from the west and slowly move to the north flank while another squad flanked to the south and then east. When both squads were in position I had them slowly move in from the north and east while trying to provide constant intel on all enemy positions to both squads. We hit them from where they weren't expecting, cornered them, and then flushed them out and captured the CP. It was a great sight to see from the satellite view. Excellent job by both squads.
I have some advice for squad leaders, if you don't do this already. Alert the commander, as soon as possible, when you are being overrun or when backup is otherwise critical for the success of your mission. If your defense is being overrun by overwhelming forces, then the commander may order you to retreat in a specific direction so that your squad may be the second or third side of a counterattack. Staying at defense against almost certain defeat is rarely the best way to help your team. Also, request intel from the commander whenever you might possibly need it. Significantly increase your chance of mission success by understanding where your enemy is and what they are composed of. The general idea to consider is use your commander's leadership and technical capabilities to its greatest potential. And the cliche, help him help you.
That was me there squad leading while defending the airfield. I'm just not that good at squad leading so whenever possible especially in Tacmod I will not do it. I hadn't realized we were getting overrun until I'm lying face up looking at the sky. I just get so pissed off sometimes that I don't say anything.
Last night was just bad for me. Along with the debacle on Wake, my wireless connection went on the fritz plus I had another crash to desktop I think on Daqing. That's where I went Rick. Sorry to abandon you. When I came back on I got switched over to US and of course we were getting killed since we(my original side of China) did so well at the beginning of the round holding Old City and the gas station. I just think all that combined made me play like crap. I logged off around 10 to cool off but came back on in time for Bocage.
Let me tell you Rick what really happened on Bocage. I think you'll take back your nomination of the bronze star after you read this. Well you had it mostly correct. I think we were at Power Station and I can't remember if I was told to go up to the Chinese Base or went there on my own. Anyway I'm creeping and crawling my way up the middle over the hill through the woods to grandmother's house we go.....so I'm up to the brick wall just on the outside of the base and I'm getting shot at by someone near the rock east of my position. Crap! I run insdie the compound on that eastern wall flanking north. That guy doesn't pursue. I'm by that last building up north and I go prone to check out what enemies are around. Some guy spawns in front of me and starts running near those construction buildings. I think I hit him once with my support gun. Whoa look at that our chopper is still up. I'm thinking I'll hop in this bad boy and turn the flag gray while sitting in the 50 cal taking out the enemy while they come back to the flag all the while distracting them while the rest of our squad/team advance from the south. Yeah....either that or some AT guy blows up my chopper while I barely make it out alive. I'm still behind the wreckage of the chopper and peek my head around it only to get blown away by Visser. I managed to kill no one and do nothing to help our team. That's the kind of night it felt like for me.
After last night I just feel burned out. I wanted to take tonight off and come back strong for AF tomorrow but then I saw you guys were tyring out that new map from Kilrogg. I'll probably be on. I can't resist. This game is like crack. No matter how bad of a night I had I'll still come back and play it.
....... I had another crash to desktop I think on Daqing. That's where I went Rick. Sorry to abandon you. When I came back on I got switched over to US......
I had the exact same problem. I crashed twice to desktop and when I log back in I always had to go to the "other" side. The problem is, if my squad didn't know better, they will think I jumped ship half way and turn against them......
Good tips Duke. Good C.O. work. At WAke Iland I was in Shafik's squad during the airfield assault. I did not see anyone near the flag and had no troulbe asseting others in taking the position, so the other squads must have been doing there work.
jmaker, Good work early in the Oilfield map, we missed your grenade launcer later on.
jmaker, the bronze star paper work is most likely on some one star general's desk right know just collecting dust. They really do not like me. I'll never see a star, guranteed; and you will most likely will never see the medal. I'll just end my career in a blaze of glory cause rust never sleeps. Sorry you had a tough night, been there.
Yeah the enemy was real active at Bocage, but they had no chance at the U.S. base once squad 4 took it, none. Jaymaker and squad four had that iland locked down super tight. Like i said before, the team had to have killed the enemy something powerful, cause it seemed like the bleed was never on and we had maybe 50 more tickets when the game stopped.
I really think players are trying to do their best for getting the team win, and mostly forget when they do not give contact reports up the chain of command.
Eight months later I finally received the reports from three peer-reviews on my latest manuscript with the University of Toronto Press. This will be my third book with the same press and the second...
