Steel thunder was the shiznit. I was in jayminds squad defending the storage depot. Initially we moved a bit north, near where the road goes into the power station. Phoenix and I as AT must have taken down 5 tanks in the span of a few minutes without anyone in our squad dying. Eventaully we crossed the road and promptly all got shotgunned, but what can ya do.

Most of the rest of the round we defended more south of there to mess up any armor that decided it wanted to attack depot, where beatnik's squad was. China launched 2 HUGE attacks during the course of the match that seemed to have every single one of their armor pieces involved. The armor would come in from seemingly all directions. Phx and I kept shootin the armor as it neared, and often they would drive right next to us or even over us. There was chaos everywhere with the sound of so much armor firing and moving around us. Easily the best time ive had playing steel thunder thus far. I have no idea how the rest of the battle went, particularly near the bridge, because there was just constant action where we were.

Re: Tac Mod Scrim Wake Island Rocked!

The Wake round was quite memorable. Too bad with the servercrash, but theese things happen.
I was piloting the second choppersquad after we decided to spilt it up in order to allow respawn on the pilot for the gunner. I'll tell you all the adrenaline sure was pumping when we closed on the beach full armada. I was fearing that they would have a couple of ATs or the .50 cals racked up there, that would have spoiled the attack. But luckily they must not have spotted us until quite late so that we were able to land our boys and change to hoverkill mode. My gunner did a terrific job on taking out the reds in the AA turrets so the only real threat to us was AT. I believe that got us 2 or 3 times during the entire round.

Asch did a wonderful job at directing us to specific map points with the comorose interface and that worked like a charm. Good thing that he let the involved parts know who where to travel with who in the chopper. The difficult thing from the piloting perspective was knowing when everyone who should had boarded the chopper was on board so that I could move out.

My first TG scrim was a great experience.

God stuff aculle01, u'll get a case of beer for that one.

Yeah, Santa, at one point I said over teamspeak: "Be advised the Depot just blew up." At one point it looked dicey, but I knew u guys could handle it.
Kudos to asch(3) for letting me know they could assist. Reader1234 came up some times and made things happen.
The teamspeak channel worked for me on this scrim. Maybe cause It was quite were I was. We had a Alpha channel and a Bravo channel.

@Panz. Good point, Over teamspeak the squad leader should give the go ahead sign.
Yeah, it was super real to get your squad on a tranport.
the chopper pilots really handled themselves quite well.

This was my first time playing mod 1.4. The flag logic is great.
If your too sorry to have enough people on the flag orb it should become contested. Also, u should have to work to get the flag up if it is just u who is trying to take it. This will help the defenders on attack/defend maps. Awsome flag logic tac mod guys. I doubt this will change for some time.

Wake was a great fight. I have to ask one question to anyone on the U.S. side. I was the SL of MEC 's squad 2. Are job was to defend the air field. Experiment let us know that choppers were on the way at the beginning of the round. My squad rolled three jeeps on to the runway and started giving you guys a 50 cal. welcome. I noticed both choppers turned and flew back to the north base. Your synchronized attack was incredible but did we (squad 2) mess up the plan just a little bit? Just curious.

I definitely want to thank both my squads on the first two maps. You guys were great. We still punched holes and captured flags against a well trained enemy with higher numbers. I felt we were taking on more than one squad the entire scrim but we held our own.

Congratulations to the U.S. team. You guys were extremely well prepared. It was a fun scrim. To be honest if fear taking on any opposing TG team more than any other server/clan out there. I’m amazed at the talent on this server.

Not sure if asch posted his plan yet, but the goal of the helos moving south toward the airfield at the start of the round was to make you guys think we were assaulting the airfield, then turn around for the coordinated assault on the North Village. I even forgot that and was telling my guys we were taking fire from you, before Santa reminded me that that was the plan, stupid. Such a good feint it fooled me for a sec.

EDIT: REMEMBER scrim participants... Submit your ribbon nominations for outstanding performance ASAP. It's always much easier to submit a nomination soon after the scrim when the details are fresh. Just submitted mine a few minutes ago.

Wow...buzz-kill. I was just starting to feel good about myself again. Why couldn't you just say...”My god! The air field defenses were so good we had to run away.”

Yeah Santa, we will not report in this AAR who did not have the 1.4 downloaded by roll call.

Meanwhile, at Steel, I forgot to go commander in the first 20 seconds of the count down. lol. I would have died laughing if i would have gotten kicked.

bravo, after we got north base, u guys really locked the iland down and were really agressive. With 17 minutes left we were down less than 30 tickets. We were making our second push to airield when she crashed.

U guys deserved the victory there.

Re: Tac Mod Scrim Wake Island Rocked!

I just remembered seeing one super cool thing on wake. My squad was push a bit south from noth bas and hitting a ton on resistance. I wan on the east side on the hill above the beach and I saw a black hawk flying just above the water moving fast north. As it got closer I could see it was on fire and I remember thinking "If they can get justa bit further north they will behind enemy lines". It blew up just as it passed the line killing both people on board. It was a really cool moment.

That was asch's plan right from the get go, I say it worked pretty well.

Re: Tac Mod Scrim Wake Island Rocked!

Another cool thing at Wake was when oen of our seahawks went under the bridge be-tween North base and North village during a mid air turn. good night.

My self and three others landed at north beach. A second four man squad had a boat also and came in with us. The wild man, Lord Zarfax came in first, we started supressing them when they strated shotting at us. My guys were hit by a frag when we landed, i was wounded and we lost our medic. I got on the flag orb and it was 1/2 up by then.

Kudos to RP at Steel. U said on teamspeak u did not die once. I guess squad 5, tanks was the squad to be. I guess u saw a lot of people getting Shakeyfied. The AO was village cap and protection, as well as putting preasure on Bridge checkpoint. Once u guys helped at Damn to get it back so u guys saw a lot of action.
    Good hustle RP.

That might have been the only damage we were able to deal you guys. I just miss timed that grenade, a fraction of a second earlier I would've gotten more than just the medic.

I wish I didn't have to leave after the first round. I would have like to have played wake. Either way I had a blast in Beatniks squad on steel thunder!
