Tac Mod Scrim Wake Island Rocked!
I must say that was the best round of BF2 I've ever played. The coordinated assaults from Blackhawks and boats were right out of the movies and it showed how the USMC is supposed to be played on that map. You would never see that kind of coordination on a pub server. It reminded me why I'm a member of this great community.
A special thanks to Beatnik and my squad mates for making a very enjoyable scrim.
Hat's off to the organizers as well!
Cheers.[TG-Irr] TravelinWilbury

Re: Tac Mod Scrim Wake Island Rocked!
Apart from the 26 server crashes and the Opfor getting raped on 2 of the 3 maps I would have to say it was a fantastic night. Wake Island was actually decent up until another crash.

that was definately the best round of bf2 ive ever played! (except for the server crashing three times) Even though we had less people than expected and the server crashed it was definately a great night!

Yeah that was great, 2 full boats + 2 full choppers landing at the exactly same time, from the 1st MIPs point of view it must have looked like D-Day !

Wake was very cool with the chopper insertions. Reminded me of my days back in Nam. I still cant be in a room with a ceiling fan without getting terrible flashbacks...

I want to thank Duke, Asch and the rest of the development team for geting us to 1.4. Those insertions with a dedicated chopper squad were right out of black hawk down and have made my month. With Asch coordinating a 2 chopper, two boat attack opening move, it really was the premier gameplay we have come to expect from TG.
Great rounds to everyone and congrats to Bravo for the victory on wake.|TG-12th| SHINER

Good games everyone. I agree that the first half of Wake was the highlight of the night. Actually landing two Blackhawks on that beach and coming under fire was probably the most immersive experience I've had in BF2 yet. VERY cool. The dedicated helo squad was a great idea and beautifully executed.
Great job to everyone who was in my squads throughout the night. Another highlight for me was my squad holding down the Storage Depot on Steel Thunder despite those massive assaults with Jaymind's squad.
And thanks to Asch for coordinating the scrim after JMJ got called away, and the Ric for stepping up to CO another round. All in all, despite the Wake crashes, it was a night of good hard playing.Beatnik

very interesting scrim.
Kudos to those who made it happened and showed up for role call and were patient with the server issues.
We basically winged the whole thing. (went to 32 player maps).
Steel T. things were even for both sides
Wake I. Bravo had the adavantage with the bleed issue.
I. Forest. Alpha had the advantage on initial deployment. If it would have been 64 bravo, u would have had a little advantage.
big kudos to the admins and senior personnel. This scrim was tuff to get going, but it was a good one. However, due to attendance issues bravo got something handed to them on I Forest.
I am glad i took Steel thunder cause I knew there is no way I could have done Wake the way asch would of. Kilrogg and Phonixfire made things almost too real. It was sick awsome. the server crashed when we were hitting Airfiled.
Man u really had to think and focus. We would get ready then scrub the mission, so it was sick real.
@ asch, will u post your strategy on this post.
Also guys, go easy on the team kills and spaming pre game.
Just because JMJ, did not make it does not mean u can forget about reading and understanding the rules. JK
Now lets get focused on FCW.
Too bad we could not have taped that, That one guy from the 12th could have made a sweet movie out of that. We could use Bodo's billboard to Market the movie.
Speaking of that, we should make a movie sometime. I am game. Feel free to make another thread on this issue.

I had a blast in this scrim, even though we did have difficulties with people not showing up and a couple server crashes (luckily only one midgame). Thanks to those players that came last minute to fill in spots.
I'll post my AAR at a later time when I'm not so tired.... but here's my Wake 64p USMC strategy. It's not all that exciting and was meant to be fluid and really utilize coordinated assaults from combined air, water, ground squads.
With the 64p map there would have been five CPs which would have been possible for the USMC to capture and hold three of them. But with the 32p version there's only four CPs and the USMC still has to hold three of them. That's probably not going to happen against an organized China team.
I also made the mistake of pulling out of the airfield too fast. That allowed China to get their helo and jeeps back in action.
I absolutely loved the initial insertion. It was incredible to watch top down... as were many of the other battles that took place on wake. The squads were excellent to work with, responded well, and battled hard. The chopper squad(s) really made the experience that much better.

Re: Tac Mod Scrim Wake Island Rocked!
You took the words right out of my mouth.
I was in the chopper squad as a gunner along with Kilrogg, Phoenixfire, PanzerHanz. Initially I volunteer to be the gunner thinking that no one wants to do it cause we are not going to be in the center of the action. Boy, was I wrong. All the insertions we did and more importantly the intel we gathered from the air, fending off hostile BH and ground troops. Nice piloting from the two fly boys. The guns are kind of hard to use without the crosshair and being constantly moving, but my SL Panzer did a damn find job at keeping the BH steady enough for me to actually pick people off with it.
All in all, it was great fun. Thanks all for playing, the scrim organizers, admins and the 'TacMod' team!Slow is Smooth. Smooth is Fast!

Re: Tac Mod Scrim Wake Island Rocked!
I had a lot of fun tonight. The chopper concept seemed to work well. My squad was in the boat insertion and it was awesome watching the choppers go in. Simply awesome.
Steel thunder went pretty well for our squad (led by asch). Inishail was fun but was probably my worst round ever. My luck was just horrible. I even spawned right in front of a claymore at one point. sigh...Retired 6th DB

Ahhh, no. Your damn capitalist, morally inferior, evilly armed and manned helicopters did not make life as a PLA ground pounder much better.
Granted, as a squad leader stationed at North Village watching the evil and unprovoked attack on North Base, the scene reminded me of the gracefulness right out of Yellow River, as only the Guangzhou Ballet troupe could have managed.
Later though, the graceful birds turned into air demons circling like vultures around our homes raining death upon us. In exasperation I had to dedicate one of my soldiers to using damnable anti-tank missles to fend of the hateful air machines.
So no, good asch (or is it bad asch), your vile chopper squad(s) did not make the experience that much better.

Cheers.
