POE2 9/9/06 AAR: PWed Night
Great games all around! This was definatly the best night I have seen so far come out of PoE2, and I was quite impressed with the squads I lead.
First map, Zytomer, I joined up with a squad and we defended the central flag while trying to attack the Easternmost flag.
I decided once again to take up the CO seat for 2 maps, and the beginning of the 3rd, then I had to leave. The first map was Rivne and I was CO for the Ukraine team. I cannot remember if I logged in after the game had already been running for a big (I think it had), but we had the 2 western flags and were trying to make a push on South Island. After an almost sucessful cap, I had one of my squads defend the West South Island bridge and sent everybody else rushing across to cap the North East flag. That was the main point of defence until I sent 2 6-man squads down to the lower flag (Windmill?). I also sent them down to South Island after a few trys, and they got close and actually capped it once, despite the resistance. I then sent them back to try Windmill again. We capped that and then it was a tug-of-war between the North East and South East flags. Final score 177-122 Urkaine?
Next map was Rolling Thunder and I COed for Ukraine again. My first push was to cap Bridge, Train Yard, Lumbermill and Village. We got Bridge and Train Yard and Village, but Lumbermill was attacked and we couldn't get there in time. I set Squad 2 (|1st-MIP|Grunt?) to defend Village and they did a great job of holding that flag all night. Squad 6 (Tybalt?) held onto Bridge for most of the map, while Squad 1 (Beatnik) and another squad, I can't remember who was the SL, held Train Yard, although it was under heavy attack from Farm. I sent Squad 1 up to Farm with the help of the chopper squad and they capped it and held it for most of the map. Train Yard got capped once, but I sent some squads there with the chopper and it was recapped. Final Score: ?? Ukraine.
The next map I jumped in the seat quickly and had our guys cap all 3 Western flags and hold them, and then I had to leave.

Re: POE2 9/9/06 AAR: PWed Night
Good night.
One execption.
Some Jackaninny kept spamming "enemy infantry spotted" none stop to the point where I had to leave it was getting so irritating. The joke was it was on Fallen. Funny yes to a certain extent, but as the info text filled over and over again with his spamming I just couldn't take it any longer.
Baur something or other was his name.
With a room ful of TG regulars I was suprised a quick one mintue ban wasn't implemented. It would have sent a message and not actually caused any hard feelings like a one week ban or perma-ban.
Also I shot a TG reg at close range with an RPG. I apologized right away. Old habits do die hard.

Re: POE2 9/9/06 AAR: PWed Night
I had a blast Sat night working under BigBill and LuckyShot as my SLs. None of the rounds appeared to be a blowout, though all but one game I played ended by time instead of tickets.
I did notice that when our team was w/o a CO it was pretty chaotic. I think on fallen our team had bleed. The next thing I know the squad I'm in was defending a flag... and all three other squads were attacking the same flag.... which of course led to us losing all those undefended flags. ugh.

Yeah, I don't know how long it went on after I left, but I made a comment and a few others did so also. I wasn't the only one who was at the point of becomming irritated.
For some reason I seem more susceptible to it's agitating effects then others. I simply can't concentrate on anything with the "enemy infrantry spotted" spamming over and over again.
Even a different warning message probably woudn't effect me as much. It's when it's the same one over and over again that it just grinds on me.
Other then that it was a good night. As SL I didn't stay alive as nearly much as a wanted to, but we got some things accomplised. I'm still finding my way around POE2 maps.

Fallen was the funnest for me last night. I led a squad with sordavie, lily, bodo, jep, and ransack. I went 50-1 but mostly due to sordavie and lilys impressive medic work (as soon as i went down, i was up in 5 seconds. Then id die again, be up in 5 seconds, and finally get to cover
). The rest of the squad managed a ~4.0 k/d ratio which is very impressive in that map. The squad used cover well and listened to orders effectivly. We were on defense almost the entire game and simply let the enemy run into our lines of fire. One of the better squads ive been a part of.

Re: POE2 9/9/06 AAR: PWed Night
There's enemy troops on Fallen? I did not know that. I'll have to focus more next time. lol.
I have had only limited success on fallen, The squad has got to have its stuff together, as well as the CO.
There is defenitly a certain type of disipline to playing the map.
For this reason I created two threads.
This one is in regards to Fallen tactics: http://www.tacticalgamer.com/battlef...n-tactics.html
This one is for playing kits to their specs on infantry maps: http://www.tacticalgamer.com/battlef...eage-poe2.html
P.S. i thought that the Fallen map had all white flags at the beginning of it? The Ukraine have two, not that i disagree with this, just checking.(PO3) Marcinko_R. (BF2 PR .509) Squad Member

I had a blast last night. Fallen was great, as was the map after that (Orel maybe?). We got the victory and I was able to get some good sniping done with BaraccudaMagoo keeping me supplied.

Re: POE2 9/9/06 AAR: PWed Night
Yes, Fallen....
I wasn't in a talkative mood last night, so I do apologize to my squad for appearing to wander off on my own a bunch last night. However, on Fallen, I really wanted to try out the full effectiveness of small, defensive fireteam flanking manuevers, something I happened upon the other day defending a flag with Silver. My conclusion is that it works to great effect (as I'm sure PheonixFire can attest to
). I'll write it up in the tactics section, but in short, the method is to "Think Ninja." I think at one point, I was on a 12 kill streak, which is pretty awesome considering my usual skill and how far removed I was from medics.
Also, I was really impressed at how well smoke works in Fallen and some of the other maps. I know it was critical in my squad capping some of the Fallen flags, especially on crash site. I was actually able to keep myself alive long enough on Crash Site to get the flag myself using a smoke screen to first go in and clear out the defenders and then (picking up the ammo packs the defenders had put on the flag
) drop some more smoke down when I realized I was capping the flag by myself
. It gave me just enough cover to cap the flag before I was killed, allowing my squad to spawn in and defend it.
After that and dropping smoke into enemy squads to confuse them, I saw alot more smoke being dropped the rest of the night. It made me happy to see the game being played TG style, with cover, coordination, and tactics!

Re: POE2 9/9/06 AAR: PWed Night
We kept good cover as we were prone at the edge of those pits that were scattered around. The enemy had a very tough shot to get us, while they were an easier target running from tree to tree. We would spot them and then in unison, mow them down. Of course, the scope on that support rifle helps just a bit...

You can logon to our TS and let the admin know.
In fallen, smoke is your friend. Especially for medics, trying to revive someone in Fallen without smoke is really a 50/50 gamble. Make sure you have a support in your squad to keep the smoke..... smoking
. In addition all the assualts have smoke, when charging a flag in numbers, make sure you use smoke to help your squad advance and force the snipers to adjust their positions. In POE the sniper can't even snipe if he is not prone.
I had a great game in Rolling Thunder under Lucky's squad with Reader, Robocop, asch...sorry I forgot the last guy. Good game guys!Slow is Smooth. Smooth is Fast!

Re: POE2 9/9/06 AAR: PWed Night
Great games all around last night. I SLed for a few earlier games, then took a break for Carpathian and joined back up in Tybalt's sniper squad for a couple games, which were (thankfully) much more laid back. Good times all around.
There was a decent amount of flag hopping with no COs, but much less than on a non-PW night. Looks like these PW nights are definitely elevating the level of play and teamwork on the server. Which is a Good Thing.

Re: POE2 9/9/06 AAR: PWed Night
That was definitely an elevated level of play compared to the open PoE nights and I think the server was close to full most of the night. Heck I'd be for password nights every night
