Sunday 11-26 PR (what I still remember!).

This was a few nights ago, I'm sorry I have not posted this sooner, I have just been really busy the past few days. My memory of that night may not be the best, so I may miss some details and if I do correct me. However a few of the rounds left me with pretty vivid impressions. And they are as follows:

I was on the server for most of the night, as were many TGers, and it was terrific to see all you there. The server began to really start kicking fairly early in the night and the first map I can remember was Strike At Kakand 2. I had had mixed experiences with this map in the past, so it was by no means my favorite, and finding all the TG squads filled up was an even bigger disappointed. I was forced to join a squad with two others, on the hope their would be some leadership, or a plan, or something, which there wasn't. But soon a few other TGers jumped on the squad with me. I can't remember all of them but the ones I do remember are Finestyle, Wimp, and Viper (I know I am missing a few). Since I had been playing the longest when the SL dropped out I became squad leader, I am generally reluctant to accept this position, not only because I don't have voice capabilities, but also because I am quite the novice. However that night I decided to give it a try, the game seem like it was in it's wanning moments (which would prove to be an incorrect assumption), and I had some idea what was going on in the match (I was also incorrect in this belief). We were MEC, and stuck on the east side of the river with bleed and were taking high causalities trying to take the west river flag. I thought we were playing AAS mode for a few moments of confusion and ordered the assault on the west river flag, I quickly realized the error in my ways and launched a high risk flanking maneuver around their north flank to capture the TV station flag. We took the boat located on the far north central dock on the map then followed the road to the flag, we meet little resistance and took the outpost with ease. The USMC soon made numerous counterattacks, using jeeps and artillery, as well as pretty vigorous infantry assaults. We were able to fight back every one, with good positioning, and the use of an APC which spawned near-by.
However before the round was over, I had to change a dressing on one of my digits. I had taken a pretty large chunk out of it at work, and to stave off infection I needed to clean the wound and put a new bandage on. I'm really sorry to my squad mates for this, I thought it would take less time than it actually did, and I was away on the order of 10mins. This was a terrible blunder on my part, I should have left the game and come back when I was done, I'm really sorry I did not!
In any case it seems we were able to hold the back outpost and the MEC won over the USMC that round (making a pretty significant comeback).
The next map was (some Korean word) security area. This round saw Viper in the squad leader's chair, for what I saw of the round it was somewhat uneventful for our squad. We were tasked with the crucial, but not that exciting role of defending the outpost directly west of the main crossing bridge. The USMC started the round like a lion and quickly had bleed on us, Viper formulated, what I thought to be a pretty unique, and quite effective plan for defense. Most SLs would have probably spread out his forces about a rather wide perimeter, and destroyed the bridge. Viper, in a move of sheer genius, left the bridge in tact, and had the squad behind cover, looking about in all directions never more than 15m from the flag post. His logic was he could us the wide approach plains to the south the mow done incoming enemies, and the bridge would be an inviting route for jeeps and infantry, once they were on it they could quickly be eliminated. Using this strategy with fended off, APC, helicopters, boats, jeeps and infantry almost systematically. The flag was never really in danger, despite being the only flag the Chinese held for sometime. We were so effective, for most of the round the only action we saw was on the hills across the bridge. This was not a bad strategy for the USMC, they used their accurate M-16 to pick me off several times from the cover of high grass, while I was stuck on a flat platform with an inferior AK-47. I just could not hit them, even in cases where I could see them, which were all too rare. This was an excellent siege tactic, but they were never able to make a definitive assault, and we had the flag the entire round. The Chinese made another huge comeback this round also, by rounds end we had all but one of the flags, and we ended up winning, but it was still a close match.
There were two instances of fratricide in the game that I think were worth mentioning. One was me running over some of my squad mate's mines. I saw them when I took a jeep past the first time, then I reversed around them when I went back to pick up more players, but when I hit the gas to go out again I clipped one of the mines and it killed three players. Oops, sorry! They might have been Wimp's mines. The other instance was quite comical, I had secured a helicopter towards the end of the round, we were going to make our first offensive attempt, when I brought the helicopter from the southern portion of the map to the western portion, where our squad was I was hovering right above the squad trying to pick them up. And BAM I took an AK-47 round right in the head, I died and the helicopter floated harmlessly to the ground. It turns out Gahlas had a random discharge incident and I was in the wrong place and the wrong time, it was quite funny and unexpected, I had a good laugh. But needless to say that ended our first assault of the round even before it had begun.

There are still two more rounds I would like to write about, but I realize this post is quite long so I will save them for another post.
Anyways, thank you all for a fun night of PR. I hope to do it again soon!

I hate it when that happens.

Those were very fun rounds. I got to spend a lot of time with the AT kit and I really like what they have done with it in this mod. You did a fine job as SL, even without the mic. Viper1985 did great as well. You guys should take the helm more often.

Oh yeah, get the mic fixed

Ha, I remeber that. Everyone was standing around looking through their sights watching you land I wandered, "What is the big deal?" So I looked through my sniper rifle scope and when I was moving my mouse it got wedged under my keyboard and fired. Turns out it is really easy to get headshots when it is a friendly but not so easy when it is an enemy.

Some of the best rounds I had in PR yet. I am really warming up to this mod!

Thumbs up Re: Sunday 11-26 PR (what I still remember!).

i gotta say i had a lot of fun that night playing with you guys. At first i didn't want to take the SL role cause of my mic, but then a faint voice rattled my ear drumming telling me the Sam didn't have one either and took the SL role. So after numerous moments of musicial chairs, i stayed as SL. I take my hat off to all of whom stuck with me through the night and did an awesome job making mine easier. Everyones actions were second nature to what i had in mind. In all honesty, our squad was one of the best with no harm intended to the other squads. Respect to the others but i feel we operated very strategically and effectively. For any SL, there are maps we excel at and those where it seems what you can do is mostly sit and watch the fireworks. Those who played with me know who they are and thanks for an awesome night which happened to be my first night of PR.

oh i still can't get my mic to operate in BF2, so if i happen to get the SL position in the future im gonna resort to speaking over teamspeak. So im curious as to whether its alright to use the Irregulars portion of Teamspeak to communicate to everyone. so that means people will need to be on teamspeak. Im just trying to find ways to actually speak to people, instead of having to type and shoot at the same time.
