PR / Feb 20 Tue / Suppress and Flank

Just wanted to share a nice moment we had last night.

    1stMIP
    A1(Sgt): BigGaayAl
    A2: Dirtboy
    A3: Finestyle
    B1 (SL): John_C
    B2: Lt. ?
    B3: Amosely

    Place: Albasrah

Situation: An enemy squad trapped behind the frontline is exchanging fire with 1stMIP. Both squads have good cover and fire fight will continue if teams stay at their current positions. SL of 1stMIP, decides to hold ground and pin the enemy down with suppressive fire while waiting for a friendly squad backup, attacking them from their right flank. After a request and waiting a minute or so, seeing that there was no response from friendly units, he sends Alpha to flank while Bravo fire team continues suppression.

B1: "Bravo...increase fire volume and continue suppression while Alpha flanks"

Alpha responds quickly and following Al's lead takes flanking position. Sgt contacts SL:

A1: "Alpha in position...Enemy is engaging us !"

Alpha team does its best to approach without detection but due to open terrain enemy spots them. Good news is enemy has to watch two different directions now. Bravo team's guns go silent. Enemy is expected to put full attention to Alpha now, thinking that it was the full squad changing position to flank.

    B1: "Bravo...advance...use grenades !"

While Alpha and enemy squad are in contact, Bravo members push forward towards enemy position. Flying bullets, grenades.

    Silence...

    A1: "Enemy squad eliminated !"

    ...

Combined effort of two fire teams, well-practiced and enforced squad procedures, responsive and reliable squad members add another memorable moment from the virtual battlefield. Thank you gentlemen.

Project reality, a BF2 mod which puts "suppressive fire" back into tactical gaming.

That was a good little firefight we had...although we had 2 RPG guys (myself), we still suppressed them. Even though the enemy was taking cover on a little embankment we still got their heads down by just shooting RPG's in the general area. Good job JohnC

I remember that well. Those moments are the reason I play these games. Thanks to all participants! They died suppressed, in a barrage of molotov cocktails; quite the sight to behold.
