Infiltration - a PR video AAR

I wasn't sure if I should put this in the general forum, the tactics forum, or here, in the AAR forum - it's a little bit of all three.

Anyway, Inspired by Silver and Orca's great 2142 squadplay video's I decided to roll film on a few Project Reality rounds earlier this week. Unfortunately, I've been having sound-card issues for the last week+, and wasn't able to get the in-game sounds (including VOIP) to record in FRAPs..... hopefully some of our new PR SL's will still be able to pickup an idea or two. (I did add a few 'subtitles' here and there to help explain what's going on.)

In the round featured, with the help of some key artillery barrages from YerMom, our squad attempted to slip through enemy lines to stage by a rear flag. Our mission was basically to hide until our team captured the front-line flag, which would then make our back-flag able to be captured.

Kudos to my squad members, who were all very responsive that round, and definitely brought their A-game.

Enjoy: infiltration.avi (67MB) or Google Video version (I recommend the .AVI version so you can see what the squad is doing on the GPS)

Great work. Good story telling. Nice funny bits.

What video editor did you use (great titles/overlays)? I have yet to get Fraps to record in-game sounds, so please post if you mange to do so.

I used Pinnacle Studio for the editing... I think it's targeted towards making DVD's but it's got a nice simple interface and works well for this kind of stuff. (I was having an issue with it using a WMV compressor though, so I had to export and then compress using Adobe Premiere)...

Thanks for making that. It was fun to watch.

As said you told the story very well. I especially liked the arrow appearing with " this guy is going to have a bad day". Also liked the music.

You also chose probably the best part of that gaming night to make a vid.

Re: Infiltration - a PR video AAR

It's neat to see the squad maneuver on the mini-map... (I didn't notice it before, but while we were lying in the bushes there, you did a good job covering our six rather than looking at the bottom of my boots ). It also shows my inexperience w/ the map, as we were assaulting that NE flag from the complete wrong direction...

Heh - as for that guy w/ the arrow - I had a few things I almost put in there... "<- wishes he stuck with his squad " was a close second

Music is from "The K&D Sessions" album by Kruder & Dorfmeister... probably should have mentioned that in the video, oh well. (heh - I only have ~5 songs that are 6:30 long, so I'm glad you liked it... the alternative was either a Phish or Queen song )

oh yeah - thanks for the reminder

Unfortunately I'd already set our rally point (i.e. "spawn beacon") down so we wouldn't have to make the 5k hike south from our UCB if our infiltration failed (you can see it to the NE at the start of the video) ... Then, about 30 seconds after what's shown in this video, I requested a supply drop* before we returned north so that I could grab an officer kit and put a rally point down up on the dune there... unfortunately the damn crate drifted juuust out of bounds and I died trying to get the kit

BTW, what's the deal with placing a new rally-point after you've already got one on the ground? Does the old one have to be destroyed?

*edit: actually - watching it again, I almost requested supplies right after we made it to our objective, but decided against it to avoid attracting attention.

From what I've seen, the old one disappears when you put up a new one.

BTW, nice vid!

You can place a new one after 3 minutes provided that you still have an officers kit by the time

Re: Infiltration - a PR video AAR

Great vid Whiskey! I loved the arrows.

I believe I was playing that round as SL in Squad 1. If it's the round I'm thinking of then we had major problems at the 1st flag. We just could not break through. Plus it was my first time ever as SL in PR.

Yeah, that flag looked pretty nasty - Although we had most of our team attacking it, they also had most of their team defending that one CP. When you combine the limited entry points to the compound with the open ground around there... yeah, good luck w/ that.

TG, in cooperation with Al Jazeera (a Fox Network Company), presents:

The Mujahedeen Responds
http://www.tacticalsites.com/~e-male/

Dateline Baghdad, Februrary 21, 2007

In this world premiere of the new Al Jazeera situation comedy, The Mujahedeen Responds, Al Ahmed Mohamed Mohamed Alli Alli IncomeFree, a videographer with Al Jazeera (where our motto is 'We may be Biased, But at Least We are Not Fair and Balanced'), shoots a new insurgent video which challanges the lies of the Great Satan (no offense intended), recently reported in the unholy propaganda known as WhiskeySix's 'Infiltration - A PR Video AAR'.

With the signing of their first major sponsor, Halibuton (where their motto is 'You Start the War and We'll Start the Profiteering'), studio executives at Al Jazeera have high hopes for the future of their new sit-com.

Enjoy, my infidel friends....
