PRM Late Night Games 17 March 2007 Saturday

One of the best strings of amazing games I can recall. I won't even begin to list names because there were so many great players on tonight. Squinty, BigGaayAl, Blindescape, Jeepo_SAS and SloppyJoe were in the squad for a while...who else? I'm tired so the memory's starting to fade...

I joined the server around 2200 EDT as PLA on Qwai. BigGaayAl was CO'ing and we were pushed back to our main flag. Joined E-male's squad and we retook Estate and held there for the rest of the round. Al dropped arty all around the flag when the enemy assaulted and we watched all the stairwells as the entire USMC rushed us. To tell you how intense the fight was, as stated I joined towards the end of the round but still ended up with 28 revives as medic. That's insane...

Jabal: I actually don't remember a lot, other than a lot of fighting around the dam. I think USMC had four flags at one point but MEC pushed them off the map, if I recall...

Ghost Train: This was a nail biter. Claymores, grenades and rockets all over. China led the entire game by a slim margin, and at the end it was around 25-10 but the British finally had bleed. The tickets were starting to even up but a clutch artillery strike by the PLA CO sealed the victory.

Greasy Mullet: Very odd unfolding. I had my squad grab armor and mobile AA and stay relative close to the MEC airstrip to defend it. Very quickly the other squads capped the entire map in a handful of minutes and the round ended. I just don't think USMC showed up to play!

Inishail Forest: The squad made a quick dash along the western edge of the pond and capped the Suburbs from the north. PLA made a strong showing initially but the round ended extremely close.

Mao Valley: Defended Supply Depot with claymores, GLs, LMGs and frags. I think this must've been what the Suburbs felt like during the vanilla Inishail scrim. If dead players bodies didn't eventually disappear in BF2 I bet there would've been a stack five feet high north of the walls surrounding that flag...

Airport: We held the northeasternmost flag against heavy assault the entire round. Eventually the MEC tank spawned and the squad used it to clear some pesky British squads that had set up on the silos east of the CP.

Muttrah: This was just brutal. I had my squad man the two southeastern AA stations (Construction Site and Wastelands), and had the two heavy AT kits, a rifleman and medic. So every helo that entered our airspace had two AA cannons and two rockets fired at it simultaneously. We toyed around with the idea of "just letting them land for once" but instead decided to talk about pancakes and keep hammering them instead...

Helmand: We didn't get bleed until the end of the round, but pretty great cohesion for the Insurgents. Of course there was the berating in text about people driving the spawn cars too close to danger zones; otherwise everyone did well in capping and defending the flags.

Al Basrah: The server crashed while this was loading, so I decided to throw in the towel for the night. There were people on TS asking for "just one more round" so I agreed. Joined the game and found my VoIP wasn't working so I took that as a sign. Ended up not playing the map after all...

Kudos to all that showed up Saturday, and really looking forward for password night later today!

Re: PRM Late Night Games 17 March 2007 Saturday

Some really nice games. I played until the end of ghost train. I was amazed at times how well the squad worked together. I grunt would ask us to get in a jeep, we'd all be in in under 5 seconds. I remember some incredible ammo work by jeepo, and excellent medic action from disinfey. All of the new players in our squad have more then made a name for themselves in PR. They are some of the excellent new players frequenting the server.

On Inishail Coridon had us do a daring infiltration at game start. We moved like lightning in a column formation, from outpost to between suburb and village.

Here is the whole squad in a column, some players are ahead out of sight. We all got trough without being spotted. That is no minor feat!

When we got there we destroyed the village RP and moved south.
We are getting ready to hit the still grey village from the north.

Soon enough friendly squads showed up from the south, and after a short skirmish we capped the suburb very early. As I said in game, nice game of chess there Coridon. It was also a lot of fun to be assigned the support gun as I rarely get to use speciality kits.

Ghost train was a tough battle, our squad was able to exert constant pressure on the enemy.

Flawless squadleading again by Cor let us experience nice moments like this one. We were attacking the bunker from the south east, with smoke, while the arty is still pounding on the enemy position on the west hilltop.

Note to myself: medic is not the ideal kit to do war-reporting with as most of the screens from this round have me seeing death animations as I sprinted out to get the good angles. Not good If you are Bravo three. Luckily disinfey was Alpha three and covered by bottom plenty of times.
