Great post there Brooklyn...and welcome to Tactical Gamer. Now my thoughts on Al Basrah. Granted, its a beautiful map, I think that it is a server killer. Once it shows up, people leave almost immediatly.

No no no, sorry, i have to disagree, i love this map!i sometimes play just because it is on!love being USMC and trying to find new ways to hurt the insurgents! So far best tactic seem to be asset destruction, which is what Root is very good at Brooklyn! But we usually end up attacking the flags because he gets impatient!

Love the map, love the long, dirty struggle of a fight, and i KNOW that USMC can win it with the correct use of assets and teamwork!!hope to see an improved version in 0.6

I've certainly never seen any problems along these lines.

I'm loving this map, and to be honest, it gets better every time I play, as I get to know the map, and the real ideas behind the map. I just checked out the PR wiki and I had no idea there were so many insurgent assets.

I think the USMC are slightly overpowered with their aircraft, and the fact insurgent spawn cars can be destroyed so easily, but then, I don't think I've ever seen an insurgent squad make really good use of all of their assets.

Oh Brooklyn certainly isn't new to TG, he was the SL of my first round of vanilla BF2 I played on Operation Clean Sweep on TG .

Well last night it was a server killer as the population slowly dropped and the map wasnt allowed to finish. With low population the map takes way too long to play out. Once the population was in the low 20's it seemed like half of the US side was either in the air or in armour. By the end there was little chance of the US holding any flags, and for the insurgents it was just standing around until you got bombed.

I like the smaller version we've been playing lately. It's quicker and just as much fun.

Of course it is a fun map when you are USMC...you got ALL the assets. Whenever I join in, I am always insurgents and we are undermanned BIGTIME. Everyone wants to get the A-10s and Cobra's. All I am saying that it kills the server...just like last night.

i understand what you mean Dirtboy, but i dont mind being the insurgents, in fact, in most other levels, i enjoy it cause they have the G3!!!and i cant fly, lol, i mean, i can go straight up, but the whole moving from there things usually ends abruptly for me.....

That's why we should play the 32-player Al Basrah (nicknamed "Small Basrah") more often. Also, Jeepo, only the War Veteran kit has the G3, and I rarely see anyone using that.

    Re: AAR Basrah 19.04 Attack&Secure Squad 6

The small version is a bit unfair to me. I've seen insurgents win easy, yet I do think the us has an unfair advantage.

    -rallypoints
    -special kits
    -commander
    -revives

-and last bot certainly not least-
    -3 spawncars wtf?
Too often the very few cars get destroyed and it seems like you are stuck walking from your base the rest of the round. This is very boring imo.

The large map also takes too long imo and therefore is too boring as a SL or CO.
Both of these roles are quite intense imo and I just can't imagine CO-ing a two hour map (as pr devs say they are going to do). Sort of a pity to me when you cannot finish a round as a co.
Also Basra is often a forced stalemate (ecause some flags are fixed for balance reasons). The battle just goes back and forth for sooooo long and nothing really changes. And every round it's the same fight for facility. It can be really fun with a very engaging squad, but when I sl the insurgents, it often comes down to lying around as a spawn for as long as possible.

Nice write-up Brooklyn. It was a good squad all-round.

I don't see it as impatient. I see it that my squad is fulfilling the SpecOps role, without using the SpecOps kit. We're a mobile and flexible squad, that can be trashing spawn cars one minute, and taking a flag quickly the next.

It's very rare that the US wins on Basrah (the 64 player version). That's because people don't treat it as real life. People drive APCs around the city without any backup (also preventing spawning troops from deploying) and get blown up. People fly around in the A10s kidding themselves that they can't be of more value to the team on the ground. No-one seems to understand the concept of securing a flag after it's caputured, or if they do, they deem themselves to be above perfoming such menial tasks. Everyone just spawns in where they please, when what we need is a CO to give orders for the opening moves to the SLs, and those orders to be executed properly. Limited kits are grabbed by those who want them, rather than leaving them for those who need then. It's rare that an SL or CO will issue any orders regarding kits or vehicles.

Small basrah is ok, but I'd rather lose it in favour of having the 64 player version make 2 appearences in the rotation.

Agreed, i like small basrah, but the big one is more fun, more of a challenge!I want to win it on Password night.....

As for the impatient, lol, didnt mean it as an insult Root, meant that, because most of the team doing their own thing usually (apart from reliable squads), we dont have an alternative but to attack the flags, because no1 else seems to want to!i rember the night we capped it on our own about 6 times......
