QRF squad on Ejod was a well oiled machine.....we took East side of the map and just didn't let go. It was fun as hell playing with you guys (2 of us were backups...)

    MingMong
    Vendi
    Viper
    Crombo
    Shafty

That was a great round...hope to do it again soon!

On Ghost Train...we took the South Hill and held it, that single handedly allowed the rest of the team to cross bridge and grab south bridge....quite the battle on that map....still not sure what was going on with the strategy....but I am just a pee on, so what do I now.

I was an SL for Alpha team on Ghost Train and we did follow orders. About 2/3 of the way through the match CaptMorgan became distressed because some people were not content to stand idle on defense when our team was down significantly in tickets. As CO to SL I heard barely a peep from him from that point on. Everyone had to adapt at that point and the attack on South Bridge to secure it was the end of the round.

I must have stared across the river on the far east for quite a while, only shooting at the distant enemies when I saw to keep them pinned down, sometimes having to turn around back to kill a squad that flanked us.

It did get a little dull with the staring, but it was quite obvious that if we left our position to get some action, our team would get flanked, so we stayed in position.

You barely heard a peep from him for the rest of the round because the team had already walked all over him in TS and made their own decisions. Maybe I don't have the full story, but listening in TS it certainly didn't sound like TG.

No offense taken, as I completely agree. I feel bad after just jumping in after a call for extras (I was in 2142) and climbing into the armor (something I've never been terribly good at). The inability for our armor to provide support to the infantry and to pin down their advances definately lost Ejod for us. Their tanks on the western wall with AT infantry was impossible for us to get past as we had to approach through an open field. Oh yeah, and I didn't know who was talking to who. Like you guys said, if we only got a full dress-rehearsal once before....

Sorry about Ghost Train, too. We were supposed to be incharge of the South Bridge flag, but with 3 of the 5 original squad members dropping (I had dinner ), it's hard to hold the original objective. If we had stuck in, the result may have been different just because we were attuned to that area.

I couldn't hear the CO VOIP, but despite the discussion on TS the team was following orders. It was not until CO said he was done explaining his position and not going to say anything more did the team move out, again for the win. That's probably what is not clear is that all of this was taking place on TS and not in game. It wasn't until after that any action was actually taken.

The problem is that the CO wanted defense, had the CO wanted us to do lemming charges I don't think people would be as upset at the team for not wanting to follow those orders.

Re: Project Reality Scrim 6/2/2007 - EJOD Desert, Ghost Train

Well heres my take on it, granted i was not in your TS channel. Morganan stated earlier that he wanted to do it defensively, but his team did not want to. From a common sense standpoint, it was Bravo team's onus to attack since we were behind by 33 from the get go. If you guys had just stayed back like we did and not attacked for the first 5 minutes, I would have had to send everyone on attack. It really is just common sense. A team should only ever attack if they have to.

However, and its kind of sad, I assumed that even a TG team would not have the patience to defend so i stuck with my defensive plan. Just think about it. You are ahead by 33 tickets from the get go, and you KNOW what our strategy is going to be. You KNOW i love the total defensive strategy. Why on earth would you attack an entrenched TG team when you are ahead? Just sit back, wait for me to realize you arent going to lemming rush, and then let US lemming rush. You might be bored for the first 5 minutes of the match, but you certainly wont be once we realize we have to attack. But alas, you ran at our defenses and that was the main reason Bravo won Ghost Train. I am almost certain that had Bravo team been forced to attack your defense, we would have lost since we were out twitched and outmanned most of the round.

After the scrim i looked at Alpha teams forums, and it seems to me Morganan came up with the brightest ideas for strategies. The only thing that seemed to hold him back was an unwillingness from his team to listen to him.

But do take that with a grain of salt, as i was not in your TS channel or know exactly what yall did throughout that round.

And I really hope this doesn't go forgotten or ignored.

Re: Project Reality Scrim 6/2/2007 - EJOD Desert, Ghost Train

I didn't say much for the last half of the map because there was nothing to say. It was made clear to me over TS that I was in command in name only as I gave a clear order which was questioned fully and then basically ignored.

Part of it is my own fault, as I have "commanded" organized teams since battlefield 1942 came out, and only once had a situation where my orders were questioned or at least not even attempted to be followed. Since I couldn't just ban the offenders in this case like I did when it was someone on my team I was honestly unsure what to say as I am still a relative newcomer to this community in terms of longevity in comparison to others and don't want to come across as a domineering elitist jerk. Anyone who has gone thru a strat discussion with me before knows I am more then willing to make adjustments in the "basic plan" based on people's opinions, as long as it is gone about in the proper method. Once the round begins there is no room for anything but "blind obidence" to the commanders orders whether or not you agree with them. I thought the EJOD plan we used was horrible, and attempted to change it right up until match-time. Once the round went live however I followed orders whether or not I agreed with them because that's how it's done.

It's over with and it was still a fun experience overall the orders issues aside, I just learned that in case there is another scrim not to be so diplomatic about these things when/if I am in command and just be myself and do things in the methods I feel comfortable with.

Everyone should write that one down, and read it, until they get it.

    Kudos for stepping up!

COing a scrim is a tough job. The opinion of those who have been there is the one that matters most.

I'd like to thank to Blonov, an honored IRR Alum, for his very cogent point made above.

Despite an apparent breakdown that happened to the command structure of Alpha, Capt.Morgan (aka morganan) has shown discretion and upheld the exact strength of character needed at TG.

His conduct as both a player and CO is exemplary of the kind of member the Irregulars strive to become, and I'm proud and honored to say he's one of us.

Wait one second, I asked for everyone's opinion on the plan and I didn't see a post from you. Now your saying its bad when we won? It's kind of offensive since I commanded that map but whatever I'll get over it.

We all want to win when we play, but the focus at Tactical Gamer should be one of winning with some sort of dignity, honor, and skill, not because you were able to out-exploit the other team or box them into a corner built on technological weakness that gives you the advantage.
