    AAR, Thursday PR P/W Night 5-July-07

    7 Gates, China, "DEVILS" squad (sq2)

    First off...my apologies to my squad for having to bail on you guys before the round ended.

    Now...to business. I really liked how tightly this squad worked together on this map tonight. Good communication, good suggestions, clean play, executing on commands promptly...man, what a total joy it was being SL for this crew tonight. Emdek wasn't on voip (he could here, but did not speak) but he managed to type out very meaningful and concise messages in the squad text chat...and fast as well. I especially liked his comment about being a bullet magnet tonight

    The round started and our CO (Opreal AppleJuice4u2) put out a request to the team to have a squad assist him building assets at River Fort. I volunteered our squad to assist with this and advised the squad. After we had done our thing at River Fort we set north out towards Outpost. I divided the squad into 2 fireteams (Blonov + inferno + sabre_tooth & Goat + Bc2ID + Emdek) and sent Blonov's team into help another squad cap Outpost, while I took my team south of Outpost to set-up mines and C4 traps on the road...I wanted to hinder any APCs that would come up to attack at Outpost.

    Well, that turned out to be the right idea, but I was too slow executing it and we found ourselves engaged by infantry. It was a pretty intense firefight in the woods around Outpost and eventually China was pushed off the flag by Britian. My squad got wiped out, except for Emdek who was now dodging bullets...he stayed in the area and provided intel for us for quite awhile.

    After awhile River Fort fell and the CO was telling the entire team to get there. Our squad showed up, but was w/out a whole lotta support and we just couldn't breach the fort. At this point we then spawned back up at Temple, and figuring we might see an APC rush up the road I set the squad to setting up mines and C4 further down the road. As we were moving into position the spots of enemy APCs crossing the river started coming in...it got pretty intense as we had very little time set-up our ambush. My heart was pounding as we set-up a very hasty ambush!

    I didn't manage to get a proper ambush zone established in the time we had, so the 2 fireteams were not in ideal position, but we still took out 1 of 2 APCs rushing Temple, as well as engaging infantry that dismounted during our attack. It was pretty cool, and fairly heated action.

    Again, major props to my squad...you guys were a hoot to game with and I was sorely dissappointed to have to leave early.

    Cheers,
    |TG-6th| eGoatBoy

    It is the rule in war, if ten times the enemy's strength, surround them; if five times, attack them;
    if double, engage them; if equal, be able to divide them; if fewer, be able to evade them; if weaker, be able to avoid them.

    LOL, it was my squad that was in those 2 APC's coming up your way! I had just issued a fire order from our second apc to provide long range fire support to the lead apc, so that it could get off of the main road...and then BOOOM! Quickly followed by my shouting on VOIP "bail out, >NORTHEAST!" I set up my own fireteam with a M60 and rifleman taking point along your temple's steep cliffs on the east. We breached the walls using an engineer grappling hook to take the temple rooftop, and I hid on the roof as we sent wave after wave down to take the flag. Your Chinese team did an excellent job of flushing us out however, and after I died to a very impressive hand grenage (touchdown pass I must say!) we realized that our rally point in the hills had been sniffed out, and returned to main base for reorganization. Very good firefights!

    The Chinese team did well at the start, defending the main bunker, and capping the next. I think this is the wrong strat though, outpost is not needed for bleed, and too close to the enemy spawn.

    I was just taking my squad to assist in defending outpost, when we lost it. Off course in the meantime the enemy was on the fort, so they capped both at once. The really bad was thatwe were now in between two flags, together with the only other friendly squad that was up. At that time we lost the round. We were on an Island with no ability to flank whatsoever and a very defensible fort to attack. After a few attempts to bust out of that island of forest north of the fort, I decided to respawn at the base to try and get a flank on the fort. When we spawned we tried to double back to the last flag, because we had no defense there and it was cappable. It was already too late unfortunately, and I couldn't get my squad to form up in time for a decent last assault. I'm still wondering how they spotted my engi dropping c4 at that door. I'm afraid you flagged them with your gun through the door or something :/.

    On the whole night our team had decent teamwork, but no co. We were simply out gunned by a small margin though. On Bi Ming "left flag" and Al Kuffrah (AT-squad in the hills) my squad did a great job holding off the enemy. But we were slowly pushed back.

    On Kuffrah, It was certainly the lack of dedicated armor squads that killed us. You can't do that against -I suppose- Fuzzhead's armor squad.

    I hope perhaps it was the lack of co that lost us most rounds, as we should have gotten one. Q: Did the other side have CO every or most rounds?
