Friday Night PR / OMAN, EJOD, MESTIA
I had much fun tonight! Thanks to all for a good evening of quality games!
Gulf of Oman, USMC
I took on the CO role for this round...mostly because the last round I played as USMC I watched our entire team die upon the beach like eggs on concrete. I hoped not to see that again.
As CO I started doing mic checks with the various squad leaders and advised everyone that we were going for Olive Hill Fort first. Once my CO interface was up I gave all squads the attack marker for that flag. Even with such a simple goal of getting everyone to the same place at the same time we had groups that wanted to do it there own way...I was momentarily worried that egg would meet concrete again.
However, I had communicative and responsive squad leaders. They made all the difference. Thos APCs in the water heading towards Village Fort started making left hand turns toward our goal...well mostly anyway. It didn't execute as well as I hoped, but we did manage to get a mass attack on Olive Hill Fort that then rolled down along the beach into Rock Fort.
I'm not sure who the squad leader was in squad 3, but that guy really helped the cause. I picked on him to to protect our beachhead, and help me with assets. Once we had Rock Fort I then had the team assault Village Fort, except for Sq.3 who I had remain and defend Rock Fort. It was interesting how many "reminders" I received from many different sources that the MEC could not recapture Rock Fort. The point of defending it though was that I was building a bunker and assets there so we had a base to operate from...and it needed defending. To the SL of squad 3...thanks much for your great cooperation tonight!
MEC held onto Village Fort with terrific tenacity, and just as we were taking it the server crashed. Oh well...even though we only had a small lead by that time I was feeling invincible! When a CO has squads that work with him, crazy things can happen

Really just a quick shout-out to my squad. You guys were a hoot to game with, and played very well! I was pretty bossy about what kits we played, and also kept trying to get a basic column formation going. That was fun...it may have only served to help organize the squad and keep the guys focussed...probably no combat advantage...but regardless, I noticed that everyone was where they needed to be when they needed to be there.
We essentially fought back and forth between East City and West City, with a very-concerned retreat to Gardens for awhile when it looked like the USMC was going to seriously have us on the run. It was a great back/forth battle, and kudos to the quality teamplay that round.

Mestia, British - "300Devils"

Mostly the same squad as last round, except Eol stepped in for PRC_H3AVY. Again, the squad performed very well...it was cool stuff! We had some fireteam action going, assigned zones for defense, column formation for our marches, and some wicked firefights.
I was playing it much more conservatively and trying to hang back so that the guys had a reliabel spawn point...besides I screwed up a couple times and failed to get my O'kit.
Our path through the game took us to East Tower, then West Tower, over to Storage Bunker, up to Perimeter Base 2, and then we ended up on Perimeter Base 1. It was quite the tour!
Our CO was krunk_is_my_GAME and he was doing a great job. The Militia had me plenty worried lots during the game though, as it seemed they never showed up with one squad, but always at least 2 full squads! Anyway, another fun round of quality teamplay. Thanks much to everyone for the good games tonight.

Cheers,

It is the rule in war, if ten times the enemy's strength, surround them; if five times, attack them;if double, engage them; if equal, be able to divide them; if fewer, be able to evade them; if weaker, be able to avoid them.

Re: Friday Night PR / OMAN, EJOD, MESTIA
Yea it was a dam pity Oman crashed, we might have even won that one. Only thing I would add is people can do alot of good on that map just pointing or spotting heavy targets for the helicopters to destroy.
If you can get the binoculars out and spot stuff continually and designate valid targets with a boat symbol prehaps then just that could turn the game if the tv missiles can be used properly.
The USA have that red circle UCB, 2 helicopters that can destroy anything in 1 blow from miles away unseen (The bf2 distance limit on tv is not there anymore in PR afaik). So thats like instant artillery available at your disposal.
Obviously it doesnt always work out like that but in theory usa should win this map every time.
Whats the rules on red circle ucb attacks though. If a heli is firing tv missiles from the deck of the carrier is it a valid target for the MEC choppers or APCs even?
In this game the MEC heli was attacking the carrier with tv missiles though they did not manage to destroy anything apart from the Carrier defence turrets
I played Mestia too as miltia and we certainly were not rolling over, you guys were just well coordinated and one step ahead of the game. Basically any mistakes made were compounded by your swift movement plus your apc are just a tad better though we managed to blow a couple up

Re: Friday Night PR / OMAN, EJOD, MESTIA
The question is going to be asked, why do you feel the need to be that close to the carrier? Sure it's a valid target, but someone is going to tarnish your name by calling you a base raper when the helicopter is taking off and feels a need to shoot at someone near the carrier. Your just asking for trouble.

Re: Friday Night PR / OMAN, EJOD, MESTIA
That was my first PR game ever on Oman and I was amazed how quickly we had the two western beach flags. We then continued east to River Fort (I was leading squad 1) which took alot more time to cap. We were first to get there and ran in some heavy resistance so I decided to flank them from the east. It didn't take long for them before they knew what we were up to but we were able to draw their attention away from River Fort, allowing the rest of our team to cap it. After that I think the server crashed...
Good CO'ing indeed :d.
