Epic Tank Battle
Tweaky says it is because the Crusader is OP'ed, I say it is because I used cover and repaired...
I moved to Deir El Dhib in my crusader tank with a sherman as my wing man.
We engaged tanks together for a good 5 minutes before a stuka took him out.
From then on, I held the flag (with proper infantry support) over the rest of the map scoring at least 20+ enemy tanks killed.
Apparently 2 bombs, and the stuka that dropped them crashing into me wasn't enough to kill me :\.
But Kudos to Broome for catching me in the ass with his Panzer III.
I went up like a roman candle.
Point is, do you think some of the tanks in FH2 are overpowered / outclass to a degree of unfairness?
The Mark IV's High Velocity cannon is a terrible thing to be on the opposite end of.
I know that all too well.

I agree. As it stands, the AT rifle is next to useless against anything with an inch of armor plating. They should have something more like a bazooka or a PIAT, but to keep it from being overpowered it should only be able to do any real damage if it hits the tank in a weak area (sides, rear, turret etc.)

Re: Epic Tank Battle
Remember that some of the german armor have PzGr and HEAT shells that penetrates all tank armor regardless of direction.

Re: Epic Tank Battle
The anti-tank rifle wasnt very useful irl, either. This is a historically accurate mod, wait for the war to progress and you will have all the rocket antitank weapons you will ever need.
And now you see why antitank rifles were replaced.

Re: Epic Tank Battle
No matter what kind of armament I hit on Viscera's Crusader tank, it just would not die. That tank is definitely proof that we need a Tiger tank or something similar.
I even bombed his tank dead on WHILE he was getting hit by other tanks... and he was only on fire and never blew up.
Yet the only thing that could possibly kill him is probably some kind of huge artillery shell in the rear, which we could never get our hands on. That tank is just so hard to kill... I don't understand why the Germans cannot have anything to strike back at it with. Especially for the fact that the Crusader was killing us in 1-shot every time.
A lot of things are fairly overpowered, and underpowered. But it's not just that, it is seems it is the armor penetration that is the issue... we have some weak armor. Stuka's bombs are not powerful at all no matter how accurate you are. A lot of desert base defenses have huge AT guns, and there is just no way you can drive a tank near it in the distance without getting killed by one in 1-shot. There are some playability issues with how you can get into these bases and cap these flags... I don't think the map makers accounted for that to be honest. Because it takes LONG hard fights to try and get to at least ONE CP to cap it... it's not always easy. Which is why I suggest more tickets and more timelimit on the server here: http://www.tacticalgamer.com/battlef...ggestions.html
EDIT: In FH2 we only had Medium Tanks to fight you with. Too bad we didn't have a Marder. I believe it was the Crusader III that you were using, it basically has a 6-pounder mounted to use, and AP is the only ammo you have... meh.

57mm and 75mm guns are 1 shots against all armor regardless of direction.

Re: Epic Tank Battle
I doubt that, the Valantine and Matilda tanks have some absoluly awsome armor, and the M3 Grand, even though it is unconventionel with it's main gun in the hull has some great stamina.
Just remember that FH has a very advanced hitbox system, so sometimes frontal shots on the thickest part of the turret will just deflect while a shot to the tracks or rear hull will kill most tanks in one shot.

Re: Epic Tank Battle
The one thing you have to look at in the manual is that there are so many different 'versions' of one type of armor. Some earlier versions are 'weaker' with armor and power. Any newer version is always better, since tanks evolved to be better at the end of the war.
I was using 57mm rounds on Crusader 1's and they would just go down in 1 shot no matter what. Didn't even matter if it was normal AP or APgz(?) rounds... anything would take them down. Was also killing M3 Grants and some other tank with the same ammo. Was raining hell with the Panver IV
. They have weaker armor, and they would hit me maybe two or three time until I was really damaged, and all the Panzers aren't the strongest tanks on the battlefield. The only tank that just has shells bounce off it is the Crusader 3 I find... (eg what Viscera was in
). If you hit that thing on the side or front, it is just practically invulnerable. However, it is really weak near the rear, like all the tanks in the mod, and it can be killed with one shot easily.
6-Pounders and up will take out anything though, those are fun
.

Re: Epic Tank Battle
I don't recall needed more than 1 or 2 hits with the larger sized tank main weapons on any tank, but I don't pay much attention to why type the target is. I think I'll look at it. I can't imagine the 75MM needing more than 1 shot on anything in the game.

Re: Epic Tank Battle
I have tested the penetration of the shells on a local server and I can assure you that 57mm and 75mm AP/HEAT/PzGr will 1 shot all enemy tanks regardless of direction.
German PzGr and HEAT rounds have additional penetration that allows any caliber shell to damage any tank. 20mm PzGr shells on the Panzer IIs will damage the most armored tanks, where their 20mm AP will be like shooting BBs at them.-F-
