Rifle Range
I have been playing on a light combat server for a while now and I have noticed how utterly useless the rifles are at anying over medium range. Surely in if you can see a target with the naked eye a full powered rifle round would reach it? I assume FH2 has bullet drop, but it effects the round waaaaay to much, I think it needs to be drasticly reduced. If people insist on keeping it then there needs to me some system (like in real life) where you can ajust the sights for the range. It becomes impossible to hit anything when your rifle is point into the sky when currently trying to ajust for bullet drop. Then you have the problem of WTF!?!?! is the range, my only guess is that the bonocs have some sort of range finding tally on the lense.....Anyway, I think it needs to be addressed to make the rifle a medium/long range weapon rather than a short/medium one.
What does everyone else think?

Re: Rifle Range
I've been able to hit targets at quite a long distance when the enemy is merely a small lump in the distance with out having to compensate too much. The rifles seem fine in my opinion. I haven't really noticed that much bullet drop on them. But the target is generally moving so it's hard to be sure.

Re: Rifle Range
I was unable to hit an enemy on a ridge from far away, I could see him as about 1-2 pixels across with rifle sights zoomed in (I soptted him with my binocs while looking for tanks). I wasted a few clips of Lee-Enfield, then realised I was standing next to a Lewis gun. Bam. I guess I could have left him alone, but I was determined to kill him (he was calling mortars onto our position).

Re: Rifle Range
Had a similar experience last night...was spotting with binocs and saw an enemy on a distant ridge--expended a clip and a half then moved on. His rounds were pinging in but I didn't get hit...at least it's equalized...I've been very pleased with the Kar and the Enfield at medium distance. Good stopping power.

Re: Rifle Range
the bullet drop is a bit much at far ranges you need to pretty much put the tip of the iron sight at the tip of his head to score a body shot and at real far ranges you may need to aim a bit above his head its not that bad but I find its very inconsistent sometimes I need to aim way above guys then other times I hit them right where my sight is the deviation seems a bit much to me but whatever

Everyone is just experiancing the "noob" effect, we all just need some time to adjust.

Re: Rifle Range
I can hit an enemy solder with a standard rifle at 75 Yards easily, like 50 for 50 easy. I'm not a weapons historian or a gun nut, but somehow I think thats a little too acurate. I mean in reality there is wind, bullet deviations, wear and tear on a rifle, physiological factors of combat, percussions, etc.......

Re: Rifle Range
I do think that the bullet drop needs to be reduced. I also noticed that there was a large bullet drop with the armor which made it much harder to actually put machine gun fire on an enemy bunker.

Re: Rifle Range
The K98 had an effective range of over 500m and the Lee Enfield had a range over 910m. (Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karabiner_98k and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lee_Enfield)
If I wanted weather, ballistics, gun maintenance, and combat experiences among other things, I'll enlist as Infantry in the US Marine Corps or Army. Until then, I'll stick to the un-realistic FPS games.
