Just a thought
The Forgotten Hope for 1942 gave me chub. It was the most realistic thing I could play at the time, and the levels were beautiful. Tanks were few and far between as troops were the backbone (understandable as it was an entirely different theater of war), artillery fire was vital, ect. I think that the maps, and Crete alone, were a definite mark in gaming history. I think that has all been replaced in order to create fast-paced games, but after years of anticipation, has also left it a bit mickey-mouse. Do not get me wrong.. I love what the developers have brought to us, all of their hard work, and all for free. We are very lucky in developers generosity and creativity. I am just saying, FH was an addiction for me, I loved what they did to the game. I would have paid good money for a
BF2 mod that delivered the same gameplay. And now I give that crown to PR, even though I am a WWII junkie. I think with a little modding FH2 might win me back over but I may be in a minority of what kind of gameplay to seek. I was, however now I am not, one to frown on all the down time and huge learning curves.
