![]() Synopsis: BFK is a un-release mod set in the “forgotten” conflict: the Korean War (1950-1953). In the year 1945 the Japanese occupation of Korea was terminated by the Allies. The country split into two parts: the democratic south and the communist north (led by Kim Il-Sung) with both states claiming to have the sole legitimacy over all Korea. This conflict eventually led to the invasion of the southern Republic of Korea (ROK) by the communist "Korean's People Revolutionary Army" (KPA) of North Korea on Sunday 25 June 1950. The ROK forces weren't able to withstand the powerful and well-armed KPA troops, which overran nearly all Korea within few weeks. The UN reacted fast and decided to send troops to Korea to support the ROK forces and to fight back the communist troops. North Korea was nearly defeated, when there Chinese comrades forced the UN troops to retreat by overwhelming manpower. The new situation led to a bloody static war that ended after three years on 27 July 1953 with the long-awaited Armistice being signed at Panmunjom. The Korean War was the first war to see jet vs. jet combats and the strategic advantages of helicopters was shown for the first time as well. 84,000 Soldiers of the UN and the ROK as well as 140,000 North Korean and Chinese soldiers were killed in a war, that didn't know a winner. But the real losers of this war was the civilian population - over two millions were killed through 'collateral damage' or murdered brutally by invading troops in a war its reasons they did never understand... Factions: -US Army and the ROK -KPA and the PLA/PVA Most of the skins are not done yet. But the team will try and create authentic uniforms and gear to fit this era. Here’s a glimpse of the US model: ![]() ![]() Weapons For the moment the team as created more then 25 hand held weapons of the era. It’s a good mix of automatic and bolt action rifles, carbines, SMGs and LMGs. Here is a list of the weapons and a few screenshots. US Army and the ROK: -M3 Trench Knife -Colt 1911 -M3A1 "Greasegun" -M1 Carbine -M2 Carbine -M1 Garand -M1C (Garand Sniper) -BAR 1918 -M1897 "Trenchgun" -M20 "Super Bazooka" -Mark II Grenade -KPA and the PLA/PVA: -Tokarev Tula 33 -Nambu Pistol -Mauser C96 (With and without stock) -PPSh-41 -PPSh-43 -Type 50 (PPsh with a stick mag) -Thompson M1928 A1 -Sten Mk.II -Mosin-Nagant M1944 -Mosin-Nagant M1891/30 -Scoped Mosin-Nagant M1891/30 -Simonov SKS -DP-1928 -Stick Grenade ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Vehicules The team is also hard at work to get some era vehicles in the game. The M26 perishing, the Jeep and a few jets are already done, but more goodies will come. Here’s a list and a few screenies: US Army and the ROK: -Willy's Jeep -M3A1 Halftrack -M4A3E8 Sherman -M26 Pershing -F-80 Shootingstar -F-86 Sabre -B-29 Superfortress -H-13 Sioux -H-19 KPA and the PLA/PVA: -BA-64b -BTR-152 -SU-76 -T-34/85 -SU-100 -MiG-15(bis) ![]() ![]() ![]() Help and support At the moment thiers only four core members for this mod. They have done almost all this work on their own. What they need now is experience coders and animators to bring the mod to life. So if you have a talent or know someone that could help them out please contact me or Zefan on the official BFK site. Also, beta testing is on the way, but the team lacks a good server. So if you have a server and would like to participate in this test please contact me. The bottom line I’ve played a few hours and this mod is a blast. It still needs a few tweak, but its potential is endless. The Korean War hasn’t been moded before (at my knowledge) so this team is really trying to bring something new to BF2. This conflict sits between WW2 and Vietnam so it offers a good mix of old and new technologies. Therefore, you can fly a jet, but theirs no easy missile kills yet, or you can chose between a fast automatic gun and a slow, but precise, bolt action rifle. IMO, this mod could become the next PR or FH2 … but we will need your help! Questions and comments are appreciated Contact me or visits the official BFK site: http://www.bf-korea.com/

Re: Welcome to Battlefield Korea!
ATM it's a internal beta test, but I've contacted Ash to see if TG could host thier Beta test server. If we do so I guess they will et some TG members join the test crew. I've played today with 8 of thier members. It's fun, but with 32 players it will be mad!

Re: Welcome to Battlefield Korea!
I've talk with the BFK mod leader, and he's ready to open the beta test if we can find a good server. So if you are a BF2 admin for TG or you know someone with a private server please contact me.

Re: Welcome to Battlefield Korea!
Hopefully this doesn't got the way of EOD (Vietnam) mod. That game was decent, needed tweaking and whatnot, but there were hardly any servers and even less players on said servers. And me without my mike and SL fix

Re: Welcome to Battlefield Korea!
I am SO going to play this when it comes out.
Err... are you on the Dev team? As I recall, many of them were German..!I mailed them over a year ago, saying that I could help doing the in-game voice files in Korean if they want, as I have knowledge in both military and the Korean language, mostly South but also got basic knowledge about how to fake a North Korean accent. And I'm not Korean myself, just a Swedish linguist with many Korean friends =D hehe.. Somewhere along the road I got more and more busy, but I think the voiceover for the Korean armies still aren't done yet.. Plus, it'd be fun and challenging. |

Re: Welcome to Battlefield Korea!
Wow. That looks very nice Nix. The weapons are nicely detailed down to the realistic looking ejecting brass and the "smoke" coming out of the barrel.

Re: Welcome to Battlefield Korea!
I would love to beta test the mod, help look for bugs and learn alot about balance issues. BTW the Korea jets only had guns on them did'nt they besides air to ground rockets (prob wrong, I am old and fragile). Anyways i'm here to help if needed. I have beta tested before ie. Planetside (should I claim that? lol)
Looking forward to his mod!!! |

I played that game solid for over a year before the lack of a good higher level strategy layer made it get old. Can only take the same continents so many times. Damn SOE for not investing more in it.Bernout |
