I miss me some Tac Mod.

I'm pretty sure most of you remember Tac Mod. A little diversion from vanilla BF2 and child of TG, it was the stepping stone towards Project Reality and definitely provided us with much fun. The last time I played POE, I thought to myself "What was that map we used to play?" It took my sister and I forever to find out the map's name (Checkpoint Abadan), but we both remembered that it was from Tac Mod. I see that Tac Mod development has stopped (last update was in 2006), but maybe we can bring it out sometime for Mod Night **wink wink, nudge nudge**.

Re: I miss me some Tac Mod.

I'd be happy to play it again. An event like this might even bring back together some of the remnants of 1st MIP. A little planning and organization could help make the most of the mod and the event. Several of us are in Euro time though so it would probably have to be on a weekend afternoon (when it's night here).

We had some incredible games on the TacMod. I would love to play but don't think I'll have a gaming rig until the March time-frame.

Perhaps for a Wednesday Night Madness deal? Sounds like a good idea.

I'd be interested in getting in this, do i have to DL POE2? Tac mod from what i heard though i have never played is using the tac nuke right? Keep me in the loop, I am down, plus I haven't played POE2 in a long time and am interested in getting into it again.

Tac mod (or Tactical Mod) was a mod created here at TG for BF2. It added a lot more realism and tactics to the game by increasing accuracy, tweaking flag caps, etc. It is completely separate from PoE.

I would love to play again. I remember those Sundays and Thursdays spent creeping through Operation Frog's swamp or the 12 v. 12 battles on Oman. So much immersion and teamplay. Best times I ever had on BF2.

It is a shame the newer guys don't get to experience it as well.

Re: I miss me some Tac Mod.

Man, I've been tooting this horn for a while now. I guess I wasn't loud enough! Wouldn't you know it, I gave up and finally erased the huge file from my HD just days ago. It's like a cosmic law or something.

Every time I mentioned it someone would say, "well if you want more tactical, play PR" but PR has gone so overboard with permutations and realism, the fun factor has been sucked dry for me. TacMod was just about right. I really like PR on the version that added the rally points but bfeore sandbags, bunkers and no tags/minimap.

Some of my best times at TG, ditto. I was just getting used to it when I moved to an area with no broadband cheaper than astronomical, and by the time I was able to play again, everyone was getting tired of it and moving on to POE and PR.

I was so bummed, what cool maps.

Anyway I'll re-install if it becomes a regular thing, but for one night, I don't think I'd bother.

Count me in. Tacmod here at TG was awesome. Oh yeah Gahlas, Operation Frog was sweet crawling around in the swamps. I also had a lot of fun on Jibbel City everytime we played that map.

Yep...totally agree. What I'd really like is PR 0.5 with the 0.6 game play. I loved most of the 0.5 maps...all you had to do was expand out their borders a bit on some of the smaller ones.

Anyhow, I'd love to see TacMod on a Wed night session. I've got Apocalypse all ready to go for this coming Wed.

Re: I miss me some Tac Mod.

Inishal was always my favorite map. Tac-mod was indeed a blast and I would love to play it again.

All of the map packs are still online at various sites. I had to reinstall the other day and I managed to find them all thankfully. So if one of you SMs set this up we can all install and play! If anyone wants to check the mod out or we do play I will post the links. (I still play the single player! It is fun!)

Re: I miss me some Tac Mod.

I think that asch is currently working on getting the Tac Mod content back up or at least some working links to it in case an event like this ever happens.
