Giving up weekday play for Great Lent

Today is the first day of "Clean Week", the start of Great Lent in the Eastern Orthodox Church on the Julian calendar. I did this last year too, and it felt good, and wasn't so hard, really. Hard enough to remind me I play it a bit more than I need to, though! And tha6t's the whole point...clean out some junk in your life that takes priority over things of more value.
I put a lot of value on my friendships and the job I do here, so I will still be in the forums, but playing with you all will have to be a weekend treat for a while now.

Traditionally, the fast begins by asking family, friends and all others to forgive them for any wrongs or offense during the past year, and to forgive all offenses. So, I sincerely apologize for anything I've done or said that has hurt or offended any of you, and ask you to forgive me. If I ever held any grudge or ill will toward any of you, I hold them no longer!

To anyone else beginning (or in) the time of the Great Fast, I wish you a profitable and blessed Lent!

It's nice to see in this day and age that some people still hold onto traditional practices.
See you at the weekend!

Re: Giving up weekday play for Great Lent

So, does clean week just mean the start of great lent or does great lent only last a week?

Re: Giving up weekday play for Great Lent

Actually, it lasts about seven weeks. The fast ends this year on April 27th on the Gregorian calendar. The food part of the fast entails no meat, eggs, dairy or fish, with olive oil and alcohol limited to the weekends. On the other hand, invertebrates are allowed throughout! So lots of seafood and tofu to keep up protein intake. And insects, worms or snails, if one is so inclined.
