AiX BF2 Mod

I am trying to get the word out on a new mod for BF2 call AiX. It is so much fun that I havent played vanilla bf2 or poe2 since I found it. It has tons of great new weapons including some cool sniper rifles and timer c4 for spec ops. Its great fun to throw timer c4 on an unsuspecting tank and watch him blow up 20 seconds later without a clue. They also have grappling hooks for many of the kits which makes no rooftop off limits. (Great fun for snipers) They have also got some awesome airplanes and helis. You can carpet bomb in an A10 (15 bombs at a time) or use a heat seaking air to ground missle to blow up a tank. They have lots of great new maps as well as some fun twists on some old favorites like karkand, dragon valley (at night!) and wake island (at night) Come check it out. We could always use some more targets....errrr....i mean players! ;-) check it out at aixtended.com

Re: AiX BF2 Mod

This mod does not really fit TG all that well. All there are is assets and that in turns means less boots on the ground capping flags. I think that the AIX mod is beautiful and well designed, it lacks the need for teamwork.

Re: AiX BF2 Mod

I agree with you there. The way the mod is designed there isn't as much need for teamwork what with the healing and supply points around the map. But that being said, a team that works together in this mod will totally dominate a team that doesnt. So you can still use teamwork all you want! I just enjoy all of the new creative weapons. It puts a new spin on an old game. They do have a few maps that are infantry only and those are some of my favorite ones to play (the push day and urban jungle are two of my favorite maps and they are infantry only) Im not sure, but can't you take the vehicles out of maps in the server settings like they do in karkand for vanilla bf2? Or does the map have to be designed that way first?

Re: AiX BF2 Mod

oh my!....After downloading and playing the PR mod I must now put a disclaimer in my recommendation for AiX. If you enjoy the Project Reality mod then you will most likely not care for AiX. They are totally different! For myself, the 30 minutes I spent playing the PR mod was complete and utter torture. The weapon choices are severly limited. The vehicle choices are severly limited. The game wont let you drive or shoot from the vehicles that are there. If you try, you will die. I know there is a way, I just didnt have enough fun to make me want to learn how. I spent most of the time running or sitting in the passenger seat of a vehicle hoping that the driver would start moving. But most times I would end up just having to get out and run. I tried to join one server and was kicked while the map was loading. The reason.....too many team kills. That is an interesting one. Not sure how I got too many team kills when I wasnt even in the game yet. There were quite a few people playing the mod so it does appeal to people. I suspect it appeals more to people who enjoy turn based strategy games, board games and such. I on the other hand enjoy the "runnin and gunnin" type action games. So to my point: if you are a strategy game junkie PR may be more up your alley.....but if you like fast paced action, give AiX a try!

Re: AiX BF2 Mod

I only enjoy AIX in jets and the Littlebird. Infantry combat against the bots is too hard for me, they always kick my butt. I tried playing online but I think I must have stumbled onto a server full of deaf quadriplegics. I went like 32-1 k/d ratio and it was my first and only time playing online. It would probably be fun to get a TG infantry squad on a random pub server to see what could happen.

Re: AiX BF2 Mod

There's additional thoughts on AIX in this topic.

AIX has a huge number of maps available and the type of game you get will depend largely on the maps you are playing on. I disagree with Dirtboy on this one...it doesn't have to be all about assets. And as treebark1 mentioned, just like with any BF2 mod, teamwork can make a big difference.

I enjoyed playing it in the GC tournament. The main reason I left was because they didn't have the type of game play that we encourage here at TG. Bunnyhoppers and all sorts of other gamey activities were rampant even worse I think that what you can do in vanilla BF2 these days.

Now having said that, some of the weapons do get old after a while. Mortars and Snipers in particular can be brutal once people figure out how to properly use them. The AT kit saw rampant use with its mortar and grenade launching capability.

Strategy games and PR have nothing in common. PR is fast paced...trust me. You just have to learn to play. I wasn't into it the first few times I played, and I almost quit. But then I got in a good squad and everything went uphill from there.
