Pirates 2 testing, Sunday, August 24, at 3PM EST
Ladies and Gentlemen:
The 71st is going on a little testing run of the upcoming 2nd Release of the Pirates 2 mod for BF2, and we'd like to have some others along for the ride. We've been invited to play along with 1/2Hawk and some of the rest of the devs on Sunday, August 24, at 3PM EST. We'll be using their game server and our TeamSpeak. BattleField Podcast guys will also be in attendance to film this event and do interviews. It would be great if any other players want to participate in this. Quite a few of us had a lot of fun testing Release 1 last year, and this time offers more ships, weapons, maps, classes and four brand-new game modes including CTF, naval deathmatch, rally racing (in conjunction with BattleRacer) and a completely unique style of play called Zombie mode. We will preview 2 maps from each gamemode during the event to help discover any issues. We will hold 40 spots for this event, with first opportunities going to Supporting Members and Irregs. We will be playing under an non-disclosure agreement to not distribute copies of the mod before the release date. As 1/2Hawk has said, discussion and screen shots are permitted. Download information will follow at a later date. Sign up in this thread, please. I'll keep this post updated with a list of participants. Come check it out! Participants, 27 so far. I'd like to be there. I used to have a lot of fun with this mod before I was enlightened by PR.

Thanks to everybody who's shown interest so far. I first started bumping into TGs over a year ago on the PR servers and was really impressed with your committment to taking the mods seriously. So when we needed testers for R1 I naturally came here looking for some folks. We got a lot of crucial feedback that really helped up polish up what we had back then.
Now that we are nearing a 2nd release, we have a ton of new stuff to give a try and Im really struggling to get our community members to come test... if I get 2, thats twice as many as normal. LOL So here I am again asking for your help. Pirates2 is no longer yet another Conquest mod different only in that it has pirate crap in it. We've classified many of the ways guys like to play - from tournament style CTF rounds, to team-based naval warfare, to night maps, to urban CQB, to racing, to fun in the air, to small area maps that are still fun with only 6 people on. If youre the kind of player that takes great pride in your KDR, youre going to love the zombie maps which remove the flags and even the teams turning rounds into a survival of the fittest individual competition. Given that we have ~20 maps with several sizes and multiple modes available that can be mixed freely into rotation, you can honestly play all night on a server and never run the same round twice. Or, for those server owners that want to specialize in just one type of experience - its easy to setup a rotation with just those types of maps on it. So not only do I hope to get 40 of you guys online to test all this stuff out, I expect to hear from you guys what youd like to see changed to make the mod more successful. And if you like what you see, you guys will be amongst the first to help give us some positive word of mouth so that as many players download R2 as possible. Afterall, this is a lot of @$#% work just to see a bunch of empty servers a week later. LOL So in that regard, I've told khaerus its okay if you guys discuss what you see publicly or post screenshots etc. Good luck to those who are chosen to participate... and see ya on the battlefield! YAARRR!
