Spawning

Ok, noob question, but how in the hell do spawn points work?

I'm sitting here staring at the map, clicking on my team's flags while the game is telling me to select a spawn point but the crosshairs do not appear and I do not spawn! Even the uncapturable spawn points (like the aircraft carrier) won't let me select them.

Also, you are supposed to be able to spawn with your squad leader. I got this working at one point but for the life of me can't get it going again. Sure, I can see my squad leader on the map and click on him, but all that does is highlight his name and I can't spawn in.

This seems pretty complicated for a game that tells you "press W to move forward"

You just pull up the equiptment screen and click a dot...

Ok... I figured out the problem. I was bringing up the squad panel (caps lock) instead of the spawn panel (enter). What is displayed is identical except you can only choose a spawn if you use enter.

As I said kark I was clicking dots to no effect.
